Where to go in Krasnodar - 2021: ten tips from locals

I love Krasnodar! Even when I’m stuck in ten-degree traffic on a Friday evening or on a hot July afternoon (+40°C in the shade!) I save myself with ice cream. I will tell you what a tourist can see in Krasnodar in 3 days - I hope you will fall in love with the city as much as I do.

Where to have a snack, what children will like, where you should definitely go to the sea, to incredibly beautiful beaches, and how much it all costs - you will find out everything below.

Update. From July 1, 2021, tourists in hotels in the Krasnodar Territory must present a PCR test no older than 72 hours or a certificate. From August 1 - only a certificate.
  • It's time to remember the private sector - apartments, rooms and suites (from 1,500 rubles/night) can be found and booked on Sutochno.ru.

Why is it worth coming to Krasnodar?

Perhaps for you Krasnodar is a transit point on the way to the beaches. An ordinary Russian city, where it’s hot, there are probably palm trees, and there’s no snow, and in general “let’s go to the sea, why waste time!” But in Krasnodar there is something to see and where to walk - and at such a level that you can stay for 1-2 days.

A loose paraphrase of the story so you know where you stand. Krasnodar is quite young, just over two centuries old. In ancient times there was a city here, but all that remained of it were clay shards, which are still encountered during excavations. At the end of the 18th century, Catherine II handed over the south of Russia to the Cossacks from the imperial shoulder, and gradually the small military camp grew into a full-fledged settlement.

Many attractions of Krasnodar from the time the city was founded did not survive the Soviet period and were destroyed. The current authorities began to restore and reconstruct the surviving buildings and banned the construction of high-rise buildings in the historical center. In addition, we now have a beautiful and modern Krasnodar park, the likes of which I have never seen in Russia. And I'm not exaggerating.

So, I’m telling you what you can do in Krasnodar and how to be enchanted by it in just 3 days.

Sights in Krasnodar - what to see in 3 days?

Where do locals relax if they stay in the city on weekends? Where do tourists go first?

A small clarification. Of course, I can’t help but put Galitsky Park first. I wouldn’t be surprised if you’re going to Krasnodar mainly for him. But I still advise you to see other attractions first - otherwise they will not stand comparison with the park!

If you have limited time, it’s worth combining Galitsky Park and Krasnaya Street in 1 day. Or do it even simpler and more logistically thoughtful: take a tour of the main places by car - see the entire range of guides (and compare prices) on the sites:

  • Sputnik8
  • Tripster

Galitsky Park

So, Krasnodar Park is its official name. About ten years ago there was the outskirts of the city and the field, then a stadium appeared - the home arena of the Krasnodar football club, founded by Sergei Galitsky (ex-owner of Magnit). And then a cool place was built around it, which is popularly called Galitsky Park.

Now this is a famous area (if not the most famous, especially among nonresidents) and the main attraction of Krasnodar, definitely the most photographed. There is something here to grab your phone or camera. For example:

  • the stadium resembles the Colosseum, and alien plane trees grow around
  • sculpture “Geolocation” or an inverted drop in the middle of a pond
  • Japanese carp pond
  • art object “Inner Child” of four children’s heads, 700 kg each
  • painting “Victory Red” made of 140 thousand flowers the size of a field
  • an alley of steel dandelions taller than a man
  • Infinity fountain - you can go upstairs to a bowl of water, or you can go inside so that the water flows around

And at the beginning of summer, sage blooms in the park, like in Provence, and in winter all the trees are “overgrown” with garland lights. The list could take a long time, but it’s better to just see all these unusual sights once:

  1. You can do it on your own - at a brisk pace, stopping for a photo, you can walk around it in about two hours.
  2. You can take a tour from a local resident - so that with all the details and interesting things that you can’t google in a hurry (the reviews on it are entirely positive).
  3. Or take note, if you never get to Krasnodar, that a panoramic guide has been published on the park’s website.

The park is huge and continues to be built. You can sit by the water on comfortable chairs or even lie down on sofa benches. There are many playgrounds, swings, and even an artificial sandy beach for children.

Stories and reviews from tourists

The winter months for traveling to Krasnodar are not as popular as the summer, but visitors are always happy to have new experiences and the decision to go. It’s interesting that photos of a winter city from local residents often contain snow, although snow is a rare guest here. You can see it like this in the stories of site users:

  • “Winter on Sunny Island” and “Bright Lights of the Park” from Natalia Semchina;
  • “White Christmas in Krasnodar” from Anastasia Buyanova.

Red Street

It is customary to start getting acquainted with the city from the historical center. In Krasnodar this is Krasnaya Street, 5 kilometers long. There is a lot of greenery, restored buildings from the Tsarist and Soviet eras, shops, restaurants and other worthy places that a tourist should definitely visit.

The street is divided into two parts - I’ll call them “promenade” and “historic”.

Let's start with the first one.

From the Aurora cinema the wide pedestrian and green Alexander Boulevard runs 3 kilometers into the distance. Peace reigns here even in the midst of workdays, mothers walk with their children, dog lovers walk with fluffy tails, everything blooms and smells most of the year.

What to look at while walking along the boulevard:

  • Monument to Cossack and Highlander - heroes of the First World War. There are many sights dedicated to the Cossacks in Krasnodar, after all, thanks to them we have all gathered here! You will see this more than once while walking along the streets of Krasnodar.
  • Triumphal arch and monument to St. Catherine (patroness of Krasnodar). The current arch, or the Royal Gate, is a new building from 2008, a copy restored from photographs. The original arch was erected at the entrance to Krasnodar before the visit of Emperor Alexander III, but it was destroyed during Soviet times.
  • Movie Shurik and Lidochka. A funny monument to students in the exam room opposite the Polytechnic.
  • Obelisk in honor of the 200th anniversary of the Cossack army. Another monument restored from ruins from the end of the 19th century, there is a funny and absurd story associated with it. The troops celebrated the anniversary with style and grandeur and decided to immortalize this deed in stone, but they didn’t have time to build it. Therefore, the local head handed the ataman a drawing of the monument, and the memorial itself was built six months later and the fun was held again - why not? This monument ends the pedestrian alley on Krasnaya.
  • Fountain on Theater Square. On a hot afternoon, children swim in it (but there is no need to repeat this; they point at swimmers in wet shorts from the windows of the city hall), and on weekends at 10 p.m. a fountain show accompanied by classical music begins.

And a personal recommendation: A farm yard in a shopping area off the boulevard. Turn left at the Arc de Triomphe and stop by for some refreshments. Street food, local vegetables and fruits are sold in wooden houses. Finally, it’s simply colorful here: touching huts with bright flower pots, carousels, garlands lit in the evening - beauty.

Attractions

Monuments, ancient churches and merchant houses remind us of the past history in Krasnodar. What should a tourist do? Of course, look at this property. Below you will find information about where to walk and what to visit along the way.

Most of the places that have become symbols of Krasnodar and therefore interesting for guests are located in its historical center. It is built on a clear grid; independent acquaintance does not require special preparation and is easily possible in one, two or more days.

Galitsky Park

Krasnodar Park is the official name of the park, built with funds from S. N. Galitsky, the founder and owner of the well-known Magnit grocery chain. The park is young, modern, striking in its splendor, scale, and combination of details. It will surprise you at any time of the year or day.

There are thousands of trees in the park, sometimes very bizarre and exotic. To prevent them from freezing, the latter are covered with stylish transparent domes. The trees form dozens of unusual alleys. On winter evenings they light up with billions of lights. The park also pleases with a variety of art objects; more and more new ones appear from time to time. Particularly photogenic are the huge mirror heads “Inner Child”, a real mirror labyrinth and the sculpture “Geolocation” in the form of a geotag drop. The artificial lotuses on the pond and lavender fields are beautiful in the evening illumination. In addition, there are many benches, places for relaxation, meditation, walks with children, skateboarding, and a cafe.

Krasnaya Street - Alexandrovsky Boulevard

You should definitely walk along Krasnaya Street, the main street in Krasnodar. Its length is 5 km, half of which is occupied by Aleksandrovsky Boulevard. Along it there are dozens of institutions and shops: the Administration of the region and the city, the Kuban Technical University, the Art Museum , the Drama Theater , the Municipal Concert Hall , the Philharmonic , the Krasnodar Regional Puppet Theater , Gallery" and the shopping center "City Center" . The architecture of the street is eclectic, represented by openwork mansions, strict Soviet forms and modern glass structures.

Krasnaya Street starts from Catherine Square and stretches to the Aurora cinema , an architectural monument of the Soviet period. In part of Aleksandrovsky Boulevard there are:

  • monument “Aurora” - a 14-meter tall Soviet girl fighter with a five-pointed star in her hand:
  • monument to the Cossacks and highlanders - heroes of the First World War:
  • The Triumphal Arch is the restored Royal Gate, dedicated to the arrival of Alexander III in Krasnodar. 1888;

Continue to the beginning of the street. In red are:

  • “Zaporozhye Cossacks write a letter to the Turkish Sultan” - a bas-relief based on a painting by I. Repin for the anniversary of his visit to Krasnodar, for the creation of which eminent Cossacks of the region posed for him;
  • “Kuban is proud of them” in Zhukov Square - a memorial arch with the names of heroes awarded honorary titles and a bust of G. Zhukov in front of it;
  • opposite is a monument to the Kuban Cossacks - a Cossack on horseback;
  • the sculpture “Walking Dogs” on the corner of the house with the city clock is a symbol that fulfills wishes, as well as a monument to V. Mayakovsky’s lines about Krasnodar as the “dog capital”;
  • monuments to I. Repin in the park at the intersection with the street. Soviet and A.S. Pushkin on Pushkinskaya Square.

Monument to Catherine II

The monument to Empress Catherine the Great is one of the main attractions of Krasnodar. It appeared on the centenary of the Kuban lands from the day they were donated by the empress in 1792. Catherine in a robe, with a scepter and orb stands on a high pedestal. At its foot stretched a letter of grant. At the base there are figures of Count Potemkin, three Cossack chieftains and a kobzar with a guide. The monument has been restored because, like many other tsarist ones, it was demolished during the Soviet years. Nearby lies a stone at the site of the founding of the Ekaterinodar fortress.

City Garden

The city garden is located immediately behind the monument to Catherine. This is one of the first city parks, established in the middle of the 19th century. Among the venerable trees here there are real long-livers - oaks 400–600 years old, natural monuments. Although most of the plants are without leaves in winter, the garden is cozy and pleasant to walk around. It is decorated with animal sculptures, a rotunda, a sculpture of an angel on a high pylon and a pond with ducks. There are many benches and a cafe on the territory. In warm weather, the Ferris wheel and other attractions are open.

Botanical Garden of Krasnodar

The botanical garden (arboretum) of Krasnodar is located in the western part of the city next to the Kuban Agrarian University and was founded by one of its professors. Its collection includes hundreds of plant species, including exotic ones and those listed in the Red Book. In winter, conifers are especially attractive - pines, yews, cypresses. If there is no snow, combined with green lawns, there is no winter here at all. Other areas resemble late autumn. The greenhouses, which can be visited on a guided tour, display heat-loving plants. The inhabitants of the garden - nimble squirrels and bright peacocks - delight visitors who come for a leisurely walk.

Ancient architecture

A hundred years ago, the image of the capital of the Kuban region was formed by skillful city institutions and merchants' mansions. It is those that have been preserved to this day that today attract the attention of all its guests. Winter is quite convenient for exploring the architecture of Krasnodar. Summer greenery greatly decorates the city, but at +30 °C you don’t want to walk, but rather hide under the air conditioning.

A significant part of the architectural monuments is located in the center, approximately within the boundaries of Postovaya, Oktyabrskaya, Severnaya and Mitrofan Sedin streets.

There are many of them on the same street. Red, which no traveler avoids. Please pay attention to the following, although this is not all:

  • at No. 166, the Women's Seminary and the house of A. M. Protsenko are nearby;
  • № 103 — Ensemble of military almshouse buildings;

If you suddenly find yourself nearby, it’s hard not to notice other estates, full of variety of shapes and colors:

St. Catherine's Cathedral

A tall and solid red brick church at the intersection of Kommunarov and Mira streets is St. Catherine's Cathedral, the main temple of the Orthodox Church of the region. It was erected at the end of the 19th century. The seven thrones were named after the patrons of the royal family of Alexander III, who had survived a train accident the year before. Services were not held in the cathedral, unlike most churches in the country, for only ten years from 1934 to 1944.

Holy Trinity Cathedral

Cathedral on the street Frunze, 65 was built at the beginning of the 20th century. After the Second World War 1941–1945 it worked until 1950, and after that it served as a salting base for Gorplodoovoshtorg and a sculpture workshop for a local art factory. Services there resumed in the 1990s. Today, a theological seminary operates next to the temple. The cathedral is made of red brick and richly decorated; in the window openings there are images of saints. All volumes are crowned with 11 domes covered with green paint. The original paintings on the walls have been preserved.

St. George's Church

At the corner of Severnaya and Mitrofan Sedina streets in the center of Krasnodar there is another outstanding representative of the city’s temple architecture. The Church of the Great Martyr George the Victorious is distinguished by artistic brickwork, 11 blue onion domes with gilded crosses and tiles and mosaics of saints in the decoration. The temple was founded as a courtyard of the St. George Balaklava Monastery at the beginning of the 20th century. Despite the atheistic actions of the state during the Soviet years, services did not stop there.

Old Ekaterinodar

The second half of Krasnaya begins from the Theater Fountain - old Yekaterinodar (the former name of Krasnodar) with historical buildings.

By the way, on weekends and holidays, part of Krasnaya Street from Teatralnaya Square and below is completely pedestrianized - and then the best entertainment in Krasnodar accumulates here, and even free. Artists, musicians, traders of all sorts of tinsel. And near the Marriott hotel, the local Latin school organizes dances! Did you see Nikolskaya in Moscow during the World Cup? The atmosphere is about the same, only on a more modest scale.

As I mentioned above, historical houses and simply beautiful buildings are concentrated in this part of Krasnaya. I will list the most interesting for tourists:

  • High reliefs with fountains in front of the House of Books - you can simply not notice them, but pay attention: they depict scenes from the life of Ekaterinodar residents, they are interesting to look at.
  • Now the Central business center, and formerly the Central Hotel - a green building with turrets and spiers. In Yekaterinodar it was considered the most prestigious, built by the rich merchants Bogarsukovs. The facade has been preserved, but inside there are office premises.
  • The State Bank building was built at the beginning of the 20th century. The decorated façade contains sculptures, tiled panels, and many small details. Inside, just like a century ago, there is a bank.
  • A monument to dogs in love - the lady needs to rub her nose, and the gentleman needs to rub his paw. The sculpture appeared thanks to Mayakovsky, who came to Krasnodar after the revolution. Then many rich townspeople were shot, and their purebred pets wandered around the streets and annoyed the poet. That’s when he called the city “the dog capital.”

The street ends with Pushkinskaya and Cossack Squares with a monument to Catherine II surrounded by (dammit!) Cossacks - a modern reconstruction. At the very end of Krasnaya there is the snow-white Military Cathedral of Alexander Nevsky. As befits Krasnodar attractions, the cathedral was previously located in a different place and was later blown up. The new building - its exact copy - was built in the early 2000s, and a tiny chapel now stands at the original location.

Excursions in winter

If you wish, you can see Krasnodar together with a local resident and local historian - a guide who will tell its fascinating history, guide you along the streets of Krasnaya, Northern and Kuban embankments, show the monument to Catherine II, St. George's Church, Holy Trinity Cathedral and other attractions. Tourists also have access to narrower topics of excursions: for example, about churches or parks in Krasnodar. An interesting and tasty journey, presenting the gastronomic “tricks” of the region.

Weekend tours from Krasnodar last 1–3 days. These are trips to the mountains of Adygea and the Krasnodar Territory, to wineries, to Goryachy Klyuch, to Novorossiysk and other places on the Black Sea coast. Multi-day tours from Krasnodar lasting 5-7 days follow the footsteps of the former Bosporan kingdom, including Gelendzhik, Novorossiysk, Anapa and Taman, go to colorful Grozny or introduce you to several wine farms, like Phanagoria or Abrau-Durso, and always include tastings and good dinners.

Krasnodar museums and other cultural attractions

Photo from the Kovalenko and Felitsyn Museum

What interesting things to see in Krasnodar - both beautiful from the outside and educational from the inside? Here are three of the best, in my opinion, representatives of the city’s cultural scene, and all of them are within Krasnaya Street.

— Felitsyn Historical and Archaeological Museum. Beautiful on the outside, interesting on the inside. Exhibitions dedicated to the history of Kuban have been collected.

Address: st. Gimnazicheskaya, 69. Ticket price: from 150 rubles.

— Kovalenko Museum. Art gallery of original works and reproductions in the gingerbread and monogram historic building. Initially, it was collected by Krasnodar resident Fyodor Kovalenko, who himself wanted to become an artist, but realized his dream in collecting. At the beginning of the 20th century, he donated a valuable collection to the city, from which the museum began, which you can visit in Krasnodar even now.

Address: st. Krasnaya, 13. Ticket price: from 150 rubles.

- Philharmonic. The building of the former Winter Theater from the early 20th century. It’s worth going inside at least once: it’s expensive and rich, columns, stucco, red velvet. At the entrance there is a monument to the composer Grigory Ponomarenko, who wrote music for Zykina, Kobzon, Gazmanov, Kirkorov and other singers.

Address: st. Krasnaya, 55. Ticket price: from 250 rubles.

Parks of Krasnodar

After taking a walk in Galitsky Park and on the second day along Krasnaya Street, you can exhale. In the city, only parks and squares remain unvisited.

Krasnodar residents love picnics - of course, with this weather! - and for similar purposes they choose:

  • The 30th Anniversary of Victory Park (Zaton) with a wide embankment is located along the river. It is closest to the historical center, which is why it is popular. Adults will love the Kissing Bridge - the place where newlyweds lock locks on their wedding day, while little ones will be interested in the museum of military equipment with tanks, cars and a submarine. Here you can also take a boat ride around the Kuban: the ship departs from the Bridge of Kisses every 2 hours from 11:00 to 21:00. Ticket price is 350–450 rubles.
  • The City Garden is the oldest park in Krasnodar, where you can ride the tallest Ferris wheel in the city (300 rubles) and feed the ducks and geese in the pond.
  • Dmitrievsky Square is a place for walking next to the lake. After recent renovation it has become cozy and modern. Nearby is the Kuban stadium, which collapsed with the advent of Krasnodar.

Another cool place to go in Krasnodar to lie on the grass is the Botanical Garden or Arboretum. Noisy peacocks live here in enclosures and arrogant squirrels in the trees. You can rent a bicycle and ride along the shady alleys.

And not the most obvious place to take a walk and lie around is the German Village. In general, this is a residential complex with an elite private sector and cozy streets in the spirit of some European town. There is a fountain, a small lake with ducks that sometimes come ashore to graze and are not afraid to approach people.

Things to do

In addition to walking around the city in Krasnodar, you can look into museums: learn the most interesting history of the region and its capital, meet people who played a big role in their development, and also see not only the climate and therefore agricultural benefits, but also their other riches. Windy days, which are not uncommon in Krasnodar in winter, are especially conducive to exploring such attractions, and long winter evenings are a good time to include entertainment venues in the route, for example, theaters, which traditionally invite guests in the afternoon.

Museum-Reserve named after. Felitsyn

The Krasnodar Historical and Archaeological Museum began with the collection of military foreman E. D. Felitsyn, who lived in the second half of the 19th century. Today it occupies the beautiful mansion of the Bogarsukov merchants. It displays thousands of exhibits that represent the rich history of this area. As is known, in ancient times it was part of the territory of the Bosporan kingdom. Permanent exhibitions tell about the population from the Bronze Age to the Middle Ages, show the regalia and achievements of the Black Sea and Kuban Cossacks, the life of the Cossack hut and the first townspeople, life during the Second World War of 1941-1945. Separate exhibitions reveal the nature of the region and the Black Sea.

The Krasnodar Art Gallery occupies one of the notable old mansions in the city center, which belonged to the railway engineer B. Shardanov. The exhibition is based on the collection of paintings by F. A. Kovalenko. Watercolors, graphics and paintings by M. V. Vrubel, N. K. Roerich, M. V. Vasnetsov, A. Benois, I. I. Shishkin and other artists of the country are presented here. The museum's collection also contains ancient icons, examples of Japanese woodcuts and works by European artists of the 17th-19th centuries.

Museum of Military Glory and Park of the 30th Anniversary of the Victory

To the west of the center of Krasnodar on the banks of the Kuban lies the 30th Anniversary of the Victory Park , separated from the city neighborhoods by a backwater. You can get into it through the Kisses Bridge or the beginning of the street. Guard. In the open air, it houses the Museum of Military Equipment , where more than 40 pieces of guns, tanks, armored personnel carriers and other vehicles from the Second World War of 1941-1945 are exhibited. There is also an Exhibition Hall of Military Glory , which tells the always difficult story of the Second World War and other military conflicts.

Theaters

Krasnodar is the cultural capital of the region: there are more than 10 theaters and more than 10 concert venues in the city. Guests are invited to musical evenings by the Philharmonic and the Premiere show theater ; the latter’s repertoire includes musicals, ballets, and operas. The latter is part of an association that includes the Youth Theater - Youth Theater. Among his productions there are those that require greater awareness and are rated 16+.

Premiere Theater Photo: © Anna Kudryavtseva

Dramatic works of Russian and foreign classics and contemporaries can always be found at the Krasnodar Drama Theater . “One Theater” and “Fantomas-show” will delight you with lesser-known stories and their non-standard execution . In the latter, the action is built with the participation of the viewer, who hears, feels, but does not see everything.

Holiday Club SUNDALI

Relaxing in warm water under a contrasting cold sky is an unusual winter activity. The hot outdoor pools of the SUNDALI club are an option for where to relax in Krasnodar if the visual impressions are already enough. The pools are heated to +36 °C all year round. In addition to them, on the territory of the establishment there is a font, hammam and Finnish sauna. Guests are offered various relaxation areas, including warm gazebos. There is a cafe.

Pools and boat trips

Let's move closer to the water. There is a rumor among visitors that there is a sea in Krasnodar, but there is no (to my regret). Only those who are not afraid to grow fins and gills swim in the city limits - it’s too dirty. But if the Krasnodar heat gets to you and you want to cool off, go to the pool.

The main attractions of Rostov Veliky in 1 day

Every year there are more and more of them, I will list the most interesting places in Krasnodar, where you should go in only swimming trunks and swimsuits.

— Santorini is the largest complex in the city with several swimming pools, including heated ones. Animators work for children, for adults there are sun loungers right in the water and a bar in the middle of the pool.

Address: st. 3rd Trudovaya, 1B. Opening hours: 9:00–20:00. Entry price: on weekdays for an adult 1000 rubles, for a child 800 rubles; on weekends and holidays - adults 1500 rubles, children 1000 rubles. Children under 110 cm are free.

— Sandals — heated pools in the very center of the city, open all year round. It’s bright here: flamingo tubs with flowers, inflatable mattresses, and warmth - the hammam is open, and the water is always +35°C.

Address: st. Aerodromnaya, 168/7. Opening hours: 10:00–20:00. Entry price: on weekdays for an adult 1000 rubles, for a child 800 rubles; on weekends and holidays - adults 1500 rubles, children 1000 rubles. Children under 100 cm are free.

— Sunny Island and SUP boards — a park located on Lake Staraya Kuban. There is a beach here (but you can’t swim in Krasnodar!), and in the depths hides a large and sparsely populated forest with clearings. If you cross the bridge onto Tramvainaya Street (house 2/7), you can rent SUP boards and ride on the lake for 700 rubles/hour. Or here you can sign up for a real urban rafting trip in Krasnodar (routes from 8 to 24 km!).

Where to go with children

The Sunny Island park has become a convenient place for a walk and entertainment for the whole family . It occupies an island in the middle of the old bend of the Kuban. On its territory there are attractions, a cafe, an indoor ice skating rink, rentals of bicycles and other equipment. The alleys and embankment are decorated with monuments to S. Yesenin and Yu. Gagarin, real squirrels can be found among the trees and ducks on the pond. The most attractive place in the park is Safari Park . Children will be delighted with a tall giraffe, a very black panther, a white tiger, a clumsy hippopotamus and will happily treat deer and llamas.

The Ocean Park aquarium , located in the Galaktika shopping center, will captivate your child with the colorful fish. The feeding show of sharks, piranhas and other fish species will impress not only children, but also adults. In addition, in the shopping center you can visit the Mirror Maze , go ice skating or spend time at the HappyVille entertainment club playing Lego, the Brio railway or colorful KidKraft houses. Fans of the construction set should keep in mind Legos in the Red Square shopping center , but you can go beyond that and ride on children’s cars or jump on the trampolines of the FlyZone park .

Slides, soft trampolines, labyrinths and animators from the gaming network will keep children occupied while parents are shopping at the City Center shopping center or City Center shopping center. Of course, in a big city there are also classic places. For example, in Krasnodar there is a circus and two puppet theaters - the Krasnodar Regional Theater and the New Theater . They appeared 70 years apart, but most of the productions in the repertoire of both are well known to all generations of Russians: “The Tale of a Turnip”, “Teremok”, “Cat’s House”, “Kid and Carlson” and others. Unusual interactive performances with games are performed by the Skazkino Theater . Children's works are in the repertoire of the Drama Theatre , Youth Theater and Music Hall .

Where to go from Krasnodar?

Beach on the Bugaz Spit

What is a holiday in the Krasnodar region without the sea? True, it’s a two-hour drive to the nearest Dzhubga in the off-season, and at the height of summer it can take seven hours to get to Gelendzhik...

I won’t put too much pressure on the patient and mention the “delights” of holidays during the peak season, but rather I’ll tell you about secret coastal places where you can go from Krasnodar - where the most beautiful beaches, fewer tourists and you can meet dolphins!

To begin with, Sosnovka Beach is the most beautiful wild pebble beach near Gelendzhik. There is turquoise water, bright underwater landscapes, no jellyfish, hot corn and churchkhella. The sad thing is: there are no umbrellas, sunbeds, or toilets either, you can’t get to the shore by car (about 3 km on foot under the pine trees), and you have to go down 160 meters to the sea (just imagine the way back). There are also a lot of nudists here.

Blue Bay is a quiet area of Gelendzhik around the bay of the same name. It is no less beautiful here, there are crabs and turtles, there is a ladder to the sea, and a pebble beach. Minus: lack of basic infrastructure, even trash bins.

In the other direction, near Anapa, is the Bugaz Spit . A wide strip of sand, on one side of which surfers ride, and on the other, the clearest sea shimmers. Dolphins often swim to the shore. There is some infrastructure and a couple of decent cafes. You can enter from Blagoveshchenskaya or Veselovka.

Taman is located on the shore of the bay that connects the Azov and Black Seas. Go down to the sea from the Ataman tourist complex. The sea is clean, sometimes huge jellyfish the size of a human head drift by. There is cheap housing in the village itself.

If you are not going to the sea, but want to see a little of the Krasnodar region, below I will give all the appearances and passwords for the right places.

So, three points near Krasnodar, where the drive takes about 1 hour:

  • The most popular weekend route is to Goryachy Klyuch. You can wander through the mountains, drink ice-cold water from springs or medicinal water in a balneotherapy clinic, and ride catamarans.
  • Plancheskaya Rocks are stunningly beautiful mountains between the villages of Plancheskaya Shchel and Krepostnaya. Climbers train here, but it is also possible for untrained beginners to master the route.
  • Usadba Familia is a country recreation club with a huge territory. There is a hotel, a restaurant, a swimming pool, and a spa center. You can fish, ride horses, and sometimes concerts and festivals are held here.

Hot key

And now I will list places further away from Krasnodar, but believe me, you will fall in love with them and want to return more than once (yes, almost all with a focus on wine!):

  • Lefkadia Valley is a huge complex with its own winery and cheese production. In summer, lavender blooms, you can take a tour of the vineyards, arrange a photo shoot in Provence style. The restaurant is cozy, the food is delicious, and fairs and folk festivals are often held on the premises.
  • Semigorye Estate is a cute winery with rustic buildings and flowers. Located on the shore of the lake - no swimming, but you can feed the ducks.
  • Abrau Durso is a village on a lake with turquoise water. Sometimes on weekends so many people gather here, as if it were some kind of holiday. Of course, it’s customary here to take champagne from the factory and have a picnic under some flowering bush or on the shore (no, the police don’t mind). You can take a boat ride, and the evening fountain show is a must see.
  • Cypress Lake is a mountain lake in the village of Sukko, in the middle of which cypress trees grow. It is especially beautiful here in the fall, when the trees turn orange-red.

Hot Springs

The Krasnodar Territory and the neighboring Republic of Adygea are famous for their natural thermal springs - waters saturated with minerals and heated by the heat of the earth's depths. The opportunity to swim in an outdoor hot pool is a pleasant and easy-to-organize holiday. Some recreation centers provide it.

One of the closest to Krasnodar is “Thermal Baths” in the Kubansky farmstead, Belorechensky district. True, their pool is under a canopy. Most of the others are located in Labinsky and Mostovsky districts. “Aqua-Vita” and “Rasputin” in Mostovsky, “Kremnievy Termy” in the village of Yaroslavskaya are in demand On the territory of Adygea these are “Aquathermo” , “Water Riviera” and “White Nights” in the village of Tula.

Ostrich Ranch

The route to the hot springs and mountains of Adygea passes through Belorechensk, and before it is the Dolgogusevsky farm. In it you will find the Ostrich Ranch - a farm and recreation center rolled into one. Children will certainly like it, because you can feed many animals, but you need to take vegetables with you. African ostriches and emus live on the farm, domestic animals include goats, sheep, chickens, turkeys, pheasants, peacocks, and wild animals include foxes, badgers, raccoons, and deer. For relaxation, barbecue areas and covered gazebos are organized, there is a bathhouse and houses for those who need an overnight stay.

Plane rocks

Plank (red, golden) rocks are located 50 km from Krasnodar, in a gorge on the left bank of the Afips River, in the foothills of the ridge separating the capital of the region and the Black Sea coast. The hill is covered with forest and boulders. People climb it to see the picturesque landscape - low wooded mountains stretching far, far away and a river running through them. The route to the rocks usually takes no more than an hour, but in winter the steep rocky paths can be complicated by precipitation. For the trip, you should choose dry weather and non-slip shoes.

In the Mineral Glade, the spring of St. Panteleimon the Healer and the Iverskaya Chapel . Guam Gorge

The fabulous nature of the Krasnodar region impresses everyone who visits the Guam Gorge - a five-kilometer gorge on the Kurdzhips River, in the Absheron region. The gorge is created by high sheer cliffs, sometimes converging to a corridor 2 m wide. Bizarre tree trunks, icy boulders and frozen waterfalls complement this incredible mountain world. Under the snow it takes on a special charm. Guests are taken around Guamka by a tourist train passing along an old freight narrow-gauge railway.

Where to go with children in Krasnodar?

We've covered the main attractions and excursions, now it's time for the next sub-topic - where to spend time for little tourists.

Among the parks that are worth visiting with children are Krasnodar, Safari Park (you can sign up for an excursion with feeding the animals), City Garden and 30th Anniversary of Victory Park. Active kids with built-in motors will love Fly Zone - where you can jump on trampolines to your heart's content, learn to climb artificial rocks and do parkour (price per hour starts from 650 rubles). An additional option for small energizers is an ice skating rink . You can have a blast at the Red Square shopping center, OZ-mall or Mediaplaza (from 200 rubles per hour).

Where else to go with a child in Krasnodar? We have a small but proud oceanarium in the Galaktika shopping center (ticket from 300 rubles). Here, at certain hours, fish are fed, and a brave scuba diver puts on a show with sharks. Nearby there is a crocodile farm, parks with exotic animals and butterflies, a petting zoo, and a mirror maze.

What to see in Krasnodar with children

Park of the 30th anniversary of the Victory. A place for the best outdoor recreation in Krasnodar. Located on a peninsula near the Kuban River. The park has many gazebos and attractions: carousels, a Ferris wheel, an autodrome, trampolines, a paintball club. In the central part there is the Museum of Military Glory (including the Museum of Military Equipment in an open area). On the northern edge of the park there is the Kissing Bridge, which is especially revered by newlyweds.

Sunny Island Park. Located on Lake Staraya Kuban. The territory here is also vast, you can take your child to the attractions. Sunny Island also has a cafe, a planetarium and a Safari Park, where giraffes, camels, tigers, zebras, lemurs and other exotic animals walk.

Swimming pools. In Krasnodar it is impossible to arrange an all-inclusive sea holiday, but recently modern outdoor swimming pools have appeared here: perfectly clean water, sun loungers, bars for adults and animation for children. Among such complexes, we highlight “Santorini” (3rd Trudovaya St., 1b) and “Sundali” (Aerodromnaya St., 168/7). Entrance - from 1,000 rubles for an adult and from 800 rubles for a child.

Oceanarium "Ocean Park" (TRC "Galaktika", Uralskaya St., 98). A large aquarium complex, the main feature of which is a shark feeding show. You can also go into an underwater tunnel filled with other marine life.

Museum of Retro Cars (Voronezhskaya St., 124). Here you can trace the history of the automobile industry since 1907.

Joule Park (Zipovskaya St., 5). An interactive amusement park for children, in which natural and scientific phenomena are presented in a non-standard form. Here, together with your child, you can study optical illusions, walk through mirror labyrinths and inverted rooms, take part in scientific experiments, etc.

If you often travel with children, we also recommend spending a weekend in Kazan: there is a lot of interesting things for your child there - for example, one of the best water parks in Russia.

Where to go to eat in Krasnodar? Cafes and bars

From the heart I tear off my list of delicious places for all occasions. And since everything in life is transitory, except for one thing - coffee - first I’ll list some cool coffee shops:

  • Coffee Library is a network with a huge selection of coffee throughout Krasnodar. A cup of espresso costs 130 rubles, a latte from 160 rubles.
  • Surf Coffee - delicious and unusual coffee and many desserts, and they also conduct cultural and educational lectures. Baby espresso is inexpensive - only 99 rubles.
  • Zetsepi Kofe is another Krasnodar chain of coffee shops. Most of all I like to take a glass of cappuccino (from 145 rubles) to go on the street. Severnaya, 299, lazy cats live here. And on Chapaeva, 88 you will find yourself in the surroundings of the Soviet Union.

Now food - from cheaper to more expensive:

— Tsekh is a very budget cafe with an interesting concept: you pay for entry and eat and drink for ridiculous money: Caesar with chicken costs 149 rubles, carbonara with bacon 169 rubles. And no, this is not a canteen, everything is tasty and at a high level. — Israel Grill is a small eatery of Israeli cuisine. Hummus, falafel, babaganoush, if these words make your mouth water, this is the place for you. Prices start from 100 rubles. — Luka Pizza is the most delicious pizza in Krasnodar; on weekends there is live music in the evenings. Margarita with mozzarella costs 330 rubles. — Ridna Khata is a favorite tavern with local cuisine. They serve Babusina pickles (370 rubles), assorted lard (365 rubles), “Solokhina Chary” salad (350 rubles), hot “Alya de Khokhlya” (395 rubles) and everything in this style - delicious, right? — The Bridge is a restaurant-bar overlooking the Kissing Bridge. Come here in the evening, the view will be amazing - and choose a table on the open terraces. I recommend the roasted camembert salad with peanut cream (630 rubles) and the coconut-mango smoothie (390 rubles). — Skygarden is an open rooftop terrace from where you can clearly see the city. This is a party spot with electronic music and is worth going to for drinks and dancing. A signature cocktail costs 500 rubles.

Small bonus. Write a comment below on this article, and in return I will send you the name of an establishment with cool modern breakfasts (avocado toast, pancakes and poached eggs on the menu) by email!

Where is the best place to stay in Krasnodar?

Here the answer is clear: of course, in the center - from here it’s more convenient to walk on foot, and public transport runs from early morning until late evening, and a taxi arrives by clicking on the Yandex or Uber application.

Housing prices in Krasnodar in 2021:

In the centerIn a residential area
1-room apartmentfrom 1800 rublesfrom 1100 rubles
Hostelfrom 800 rublesfrom 500 rubles
Hotel 3*from 1200 rublesfrom 1500 rubles
Hotel 4*from 2000 rublesfrom 2700 rubles
Hotel 5*from 4900 rublesfrom 5800 rubles

A large selection of hotels and inns - on well-known and familiar aggregators:

  • Hotellook
  • Booking

But for apartments and houses they came up with something new - the Sutochno.ru service, or the Russian analogue of Airbnb. Works great in Russia (and answers the question “Where to look for housing in the resorts of the Krasnodar Territory?”) - with accurate photographs, REVIEWS (sorry, Avito, you lost) and client protection.

Weather in Krasnodar

Krasnodar weather can be described in one word - hot. Already in April, the “interesting” season begins, when half of the residents wear boots and the other half wear flip-flops. But a light leather jacket would be ideal.

In May, a consistently comfortable temperature is established, which cannot but please lovers of barbecue in nature. Starting this month, you can explore all the sights of Krasnodar without turning into melted ice cream. Walking in June and September will also be pleasant, but July and August are better spent near the pool or on the coast.

And in October we have Indian summer - warm and a little sleepy before the cold weather. By the way, snow in Krasnodar is a rare guest (winter 2020-2021 is an anomalous exception), but such winds blow that at any moment Ellie and Totoshka will arrive.

Budget for a trip to Krasnodar

Typically, a trip budget consists of spending on accommodation, food and excursions - and Krasnodar is very modest in this regard. See for yourself:

  • prices for apartments and hotels do not rise during the season, as on the sea coast; On average, a day in the city costs 2,000 rubles for two;
  • a large selection of delicious and inexpensive cafes; and the average bill is 500–700 rubles per person;
  • you can buy ready-made food in supermarkets (best in Tabris);
  • you can buy food from markets and cook it yourself if you have a kitchen; prices for vegetables and fruits in the summer are cheap, and the choice is huge + a chic assortment of fresh farm meat and poultry, cheeses;
  • taxi around the city - from 200 rubles per trip;
  • tickets to museums that are definitely worth seeing (Felitsyna and Kovalenko) are affordable - 150–300 rubles;
  • You can see the main attractions for free: Krasnaya Street, Galitsky Park and many other places in Krasnodar are free.

In total, we have for a weekend trip for two (from Friday to Sunday): accommodation - 4000 rubles; get from and to the airport by Yandex taxi - 800 rubles; food - 8000 rubles; transport - 1200 rubles; the best sightseeing tour of the city - 4000 rubles; other expenses - optional.
