The most famous places for tourists

Don't know where to start getting acquainted with Tyumen? Take a walk around the center, go down to the Tura River, sit in one of the parks. And we will tell you about the most beautiful and iconic places in the city further. Everyone who comes to the oil and gas capital of Russia is obliged to see them.

Embankment of the Tura River

The first place a tourist should go is the only four-level embankment in Russia. It was opened in 2012, but has already earned the love of residents and guests of the city. Its length is 4 km and its height is 24 m.

The best artists and architects of Tyumen worked on the embankment project. The result is a spacious walking area with stairs, ramps, walkways and benches. Sculptures and metal bas-reliefs are installed along the river: in honor of the founding of the city, the conquest of Siberia, etc. And trees, shrubs and flowers are planted on the slopes.

The waterfall fountain and wave-shaped granite railings give the embankment a unique appearance. At night, the area is illuminated and takes on a new mysterious appearance.

In summer, pleasure boats depart from the embankment. This is a great way to see city panoramas from the river. The duration of the excursion is 1 hour.

Tsvetnoy Boulevard

The main pedestrian street of the city stretches through the entire center from Ordzhonikidze Street to Pervomaiskaya. Its total length is 800 m. And the abundance of cafes, shops and entertainment make the promenade an ideal place for a walk. On the boulevard are located:

  • Squares of Love, Sports, Arts, Fontannaya and Circus;
  • sculptures of famous circus clowns - Yu. Nikulin, O. Popov, Karandash;
  • the “Seasons” fountain with a bright stained glass dome;
  • cinema;
  • circus;
  • sports complex “Central”;
  • cafes and restaurants;
  • shops and shopping centers;
  • amusement park.

In the evening, the promenade comes alive: the streets are filled with young people and families with children, and training takes place on the sports fields. A walk along the boulevard is interesting at any time of the year. Ice skating rinks are open here in winter, and concerts and public events are held here in summer.

central square

Initially, the square was called Trade or Bazaar. In 1860, the city authorities decided to move the main retail outlets and merchant shops here. A carousel and a circus operated to entertain the townspeople.

Later, the territory was improved: residential buildings, a temple and a fire station were built.

During Soviet times, administrative buildings and a post office were located on the square. And in the late 1970s it began to be decorated with a monument to V.I. Lenin.

Today on the Central Square there are buildings:

  • Tyumen Regional Duma;
  • Administration of the Tyumen region;
  • Tyumen State Oil and Gas University;
  • Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation for the Tyumen region.

In summer it is nice to walk here or sit in the shade of the trees.

Znamensky Cathedral

A beautiful church in the Russian Baroque style - one of the oldest in Siberia. The first church on this site was built in the 17th century. And in 1786, construction began on a monumental stone cathedral.

After the revolution, the building housed warehouses, a prison, and a tractor station. Despite significant damage, the architectural monument has survived to this day. Even the original bells and the miraculous Znamenskaya Icon of the Mother of God have been preserved.

Now the cathedral has been restored and services are held there.

Siberian cat park

The unusual alley appeared on city maps quite recently – in 2008. In memory of the thousands of cats sent to besieged Leningrad during the war, sculptures of these pets were installed at the intersection of Respublika and Pervomaiskaya streets. Children and adults love to take pictures with them.

Kolokolnikov Estate

This unusual wooden building is the only surviving example of merchant architecture of old Tyumen. The estate is included in the list of monuments of federal significance. Today it houses one of the branches of the museum named after. AND I. Slovtsova.

The carved wooden house was built in the 19th century. commissioned by Ivan Ikonnikov, the owner of the lard plant. The Kolokolnikov merchants, who traded in sugar and tea, became the second owners of the estate. But it is their name that she now bears.

What interesting things will you see in the museum? The surroundings of pre-revolutionary merchant shops, shops, household items of the inhabitants of Siberia in the 19th – early 20th centuries. Exhibitions are open from Tuesday to Sunday from 11:00 to 20:00.

Tyumen Drama Theatre

The largest drama theater in Russia was founded in the mid-19th century. You will find it on the square of the 400th anniversary of Tyumen. Its total area is 36 thousand m2, and its height is 4 floors.

The theater's repertoire is quite wide: from classics to modern productions. In addition to performances, 7 permanent exhibitions are open to visitors. You can view them before the start of the performance or during intermission.

The area in front of the building is conducive to leisurely relaxation. There are benches and a fountain here. Children will enjoy renting cars and hoverboards.

Tobolsk Kremlin

The former capital of Siberia is located 250 km from Tyumen. But it's definitely worth a trip here. The main attraction of the city is the white stone Kremlin of the 17th-18th centuries.

On the territory of the fortress there are ancient churches, watchtowers, and museums. And from the observation deck you will have stunning views of the Irtysh and the surrounding area.

The most unusual exile of the Tobolsk Kremlin was... the alarm from Uglich. The bell “offended” before Tsar Boris Godunov when it notified the city residents about the death of Tsarevich Dmitry. For this, the new ruler decided to send the alarm to Siberia.

Where to go with a girl in Tyumen

Everything will depend on preferences and financial capabilities. There are several win-win options:

  • Tsvetnoy Boulevard is the central street of the city, rich in developed infrastructure, numerous cafes, bars, and restaurants. The center of the boulevard became a fountain with statues.
  • The Lovers' Bridge in the evening will not leave a girl indifferent, because thousands of lights breaking the darkness of the night beautifully illuminate this majestic structure.

Don't forget to take a walk through parks and squares. There are many options - Tsvetnoy Boulevard, Komsomolsky Square, Alexander Park, Central Square (Plakha), Gilevskaya Grove, Tyumen Embankment and others

Beautiful places for a romantic walk

Invite a girl on a date, have a photo shoot or off-site wedding registration - in Tyumen there are many places for lovers. Choose parks and squares where there are no crowds of people. And we will tell you where they are.

Lover's Bridge

One of the main symbols of Tyumen was built in 1979 on the site of an old wooden bridge. It received its modern name in 2003. The reason was a kissing competition taking place there.

Two years later, the first locks appeared on the fences of the cable-stayed bridge: Tyumen newlyweds hang them on their wedding day, and throw the key into the river. This tradition has become a symbol of a long and happy married life.

Lovers often walk along the bridge, because it offers romantic and picturesque views of the city. And young people choose this place to propose to their soulmate.

Country garden

The former Alexander Garden is a real decoration of Tyumen. It was founded in 1851 and named after Emperor Alexander II. And in 2007, the park area was restored: new trees were planted, park sculptures and benches were installed.

Shady alleys and winding paths are what you need for walks with your loved one. Therefore, the Country Garden is often chosen by lovers: there is no noise and fuss here, and gorgeous views open from the observation deck.

Do you believe in omens? Then find an iron daisy in the park - a symbol of love and fidelity. Tyumen residents believe that she makes wishes come true. To do this, just tie a ribbon or hang a lock at the base of the flower.

Gilevsky Park

The romance of natural landscapes awaits you in Gilevsky Park. People come here to relax and breathe fresh air, play sports or feed the birds. Why not a place for a date?

The total area of the park is almost 80 hectares. There is everything for a leisurely walk here:

  • a stream with an elegant bridge;
  • gazebos;
  • sculptures of Siberian animals;
  • observation decks.

If you wish, you can arrange an unusual date. For example, ride bicycles or roller skates. For this purpose, the park has equipped bicycle paths and rental facilities.

And you will find secluded corners in the depths of the park. It’s nice to sit here in the shade of trees, listen to birdsong and chat away from prying eyes.

Japanese garden

A new walking place on the map of Tyumen is the Japanese garden in IvaPark. This landscape park was created by the staff of the Akhmechet nursery and has no analogues in Siberia.

There are three thematic zones in the park:

  • Valley of Roses;
  • Prairie Valley;
  • Japanese garden.

As you get to know them, you will see hundreds of unique plants and unusual landscapes.

Parks and squares of Tyumen

The historical square of Tyumen occupies one of the highest places. It was from this place that the construction of the future city began about four hundred years ago. Here you can see a beautiful view of the riverside part of the city.

Gagarinsky Park, just like Gilevskaya Grove, is preferred by active citizens. Roller skiers, mothers with strollers, cyclists and active pensioners are here from morning to evening.

Aviator Square is intended for people of all ages. It was opened in 2014 and is located near Plekhanovo airport.

Alley of Newlyweds. This is a small boulevard in the area of the House of Defense, a traditional place for newlyweds to visit.

Unity and Harmony Square was founded in 2004 and is located in the city center near the Central Department Store. This is a cultural and entertainment facility in Tyumen. This is the only place where festive events throughout the city take place.

Tyumen: what to see?

In one of the previous articles I talked about a trip to the Tyumen Hot Springs ().

I think it won’t surprise anyone that in addition to this oasis, we decided to also look at Tyumen itself, along with its surroundings? And, of course, tell you about my impressions.

Of course, it was not possible to see everything in a couple of days. Therefore, the most accessible and interesting places were chosen (to our taste, of course).

A short excursion started from the place where the city was founded

– after all, whatever one may say, this is the beginning. By the way, Tyumen was founded on the site of an ancient settlement, a khanate, which was previously called “Great Tyumen”, the Tyumen kingdom. Now there is a stone on the tiled square; a sign on it says that it was here that the city was founded on July 25, 1586. By the way, I was surprised that many townspeople do not know “what kind of cobblestone is there” and have no idea at all where the founding site of the city is located. /Although... I’m not sure that a large percentage of Yekaterinburg residents know where that “cobblestone” is located in our country/.

In any case, you will not have any difficulty finding it, as well as other attractions - they are all located in relative proximity to the city center.

The area with the stone is located

at the beginning of Republic and Lenin streets. The Tyumen Eternal Flame is located nearby (it seemed to me that ours looks more solid).

The next place we visited was the Lovers' Bridge

.

This bridge today is perhaps one of the main attractions of Tyumen. The most popular - for sure (we were there in rainy, cold weather - the rest of the city was hiding, but life was in full swing there). This is a pedestrian cable-stayed bridge. It was opened in 2003 - on June 25 for the city day. The Lovers' Bridge is considered a symbol of a bright feeling over which time has no power.

A clock hangs above the entrance to the bridge - its purpose is to remind you that there is always time to love. It is under them that lovers make dates. During the ride, wedding processions consider it their duty to visit this place and hang a lock on it with the names of the newlyweds, and throw the key into the water. Those who do not tie the knot also join this tradition. I foresee a question from fans of “House-2”: we didn’t come across a castle with the names of Alena Vodonaeva and May Abrikosov. But it’s so cool to watch a couple of young people (about 12 years old), looking around bashfully, hanging up the lock and throwing the key into the water.

The bridge offers a magnificent view of Tura. By the way, at the time of our arrival, the embankment there was being repaired and improved - it will be a wonderful place for walking.

But negative impressions also remained - the bridge was mercilessly covered with inscriptions, painted with graffiti and other things. Sad.

Located

The Lovers' Bridge at the beginning of Republic Street (where it intersects with the parallel Lenin Street).

Another interesting place with a similar “love” theme is the Alley of Newlyweds

. Wedding processions also constantly come there. They tie colored ribbons to the arch above the alley for good luck.

It is believed that if a lonely person touches the sculpture standing on the newlyweds’ alley and really wishes to meet his destiny, his wish will come true within a year.

In addition to the newlyweds, other residents of the city also visit this place. Still would! – everything is equipped for relaxation there. A small but beautiful fountain is surrounded by comfortable benches. Nearby there is a cozy children's playground with swings and a large sandbox-ship.

Located

Alley of newlyweds on the ring of the House of Defense.

The most popular place for walking among residents of Tyumen is Tsvetnoy Boulevard

.
This boulevard is currently the first and only pedestrian one in Tyumen. It was donated by the city of Yekaterinburg and its residents in honor of the anniversary of the Tyumen region. The architects of our city built five squares
: sports square, fountain square, arts square, lovers' square, and circus square.

The fountain in the central square is decorated with special glass. From the inside, all the details are illuminated - so at night it looks simply enchanting (but absolutely unphotographable).

On the circus square you can see sculptures of famous clowns - Yuri Nikulin, Oleg Popov, Karandash.

On the Square of Lovers there is a sculpture “Tenderness”. She is a naked girl with her head thrown back (and a hole in some side). Several legends are associated with it. The most famous one says that if a man and a woman touch her sides at the same time, their family life will be long and happy.

In general, Tsvetnoy Boulevard is completely shrouded in certain superstitions. For example, if you hit the very center – a star – of a certain circle (“zero kilometer”) with a thrown coin, you can make a wish. It is also believed that what is planned under the entrance arch will definitely come true.

There is a large amusement park on the boulevard - entertainment is provided for children and teenagers of all ages. I was especially pleased with the Ferris wheel - it’s newer and doesn’t creak as badly as in our Central Park of Culture and Culture. Prices for attractions are approximately the same as in Yekaterinburg. And there are amazing pigeons there - almost tame.

In this place there are various catering establishments - so you can safely go there for a walk for the whole day. This bright colorful place is one of the favorite vacation spots of city residents.

Located

boulevard within the boundaries of Pervomaiskaya and Ordzhonikidze streets, parallel to Lenin and Herzen streets.

Not far from Tsvetnoy Boulevard there is a rather unusual place - Siberian Cat Square

.

It would seem like a strange idea to make a cat alley almost in the center of the city? And in general, “monuments” to cats cause bewilderment... In fact, this is not a whim - the park was designed based on historical facts. During the Great Patriotic War, there were simply no representatives of the cat family in besieged Leningrad... they were eaten during the terrible hungry winter. What does no cats mean? – the rats multiplied – there were almost more of them than people. The rats became the “masters of the city.” If people could still somehow fight them off, then saving the museum treasures was impossible. Therefore, as soon as the blockade of the city was lifted, cats began to be brought there to protect the Hermitage and other priceless museum depositories. More than 5,000 cats were sent to Leningrad - from Omsk, Irkutsk, Tyumen - Siberian cats.

It was in honor of this historical event, according to the design of Marina Alchibaeva, that 12 sculptures were cast from cast iron, covered with golden paint.

In general, at first glance, there is nothing particularly remarkable about them - especially since time has already worn them out pretty well. But after walking around the square, you somehow imperceptibly become charged with positive energy. And the kids like it.

Located

park on Pervomaiskaya street (between Respubliki and Lenin streets).

Tyumen will delight museum

– there are a great many of them there. The residents themselves especially recommend visiting the Museum of Oil and Gas Geology (the map of the Tyumen region made of precious stones on display there is especially interesting), the Masharov House museum (its exhibitions are compared to the pages of a family album), the City Duma museum (there is even a mammoth skeleton there) there is J), a gallery of modern art.

The city will also be interesting for those who like to visit various temples, churches, cathedrals

. The most ancient shrine of the city is the Holy Trinity Monastery, the Znamensky Cathedral, the Spasskaya Church, St. Nicholas Church and even the Roman Catholic Church of St. Righteous Joseph.

Almost all buildings are architectural masterpieces.

We, burdened by a dog, a child who had a sewing in one place and a love of nature, decided to go on a small country trip along the Yalutorovsky tract. By the way, history buffs can go all the way to the city of Yalutorovsk (about 70 km from Tyumen) - there is rumored to be an absolutely stunning Decembrist Museum.

But other places attracted us...

For example, a children's railway

. Tyumen residents talk a lot about it: it is considered almost the best in Russia, “it’s definitely worth going on an excursion there.” It’s interesting to take a child for a ride (probably). Just don't repeat our mistakes! – without knowing the exact information, we saw closed gates, a fence and a complete absence of people. In general, we didn’t hit it. The road is open, but no one knows exactly when, and the telephone numbers listed on the Internet answer with long beeps.

To be fair, it is worth noting that we were not particularly upset - after all, this was not the only goal. At 23 km of this tract there is an Archaeological Museum-Reserve

. Finding it will not be difficult - there is a noticeable sign at the turn.

Arriving there, it’s like stepping into a fairy tale. A complete absence of people, only a bearded, extremely good-natured “guardian”. A wooden structure, with centuries-old pines rustling overhead...

The first excavations here were carried out in the 19th century. The exhibition presents many elements of ancient settlements and stages of their development. You can learn about the culture, way of life, way of life, religion of the peoples who lived in the Tyumen region and to the north. You can book a tour (the price is purely symbolic), or you can explore everything on your own. Even my daughter (as you remember, I described her above) got into it and walked around looking at the exhibition stands. Naturally, the settlement models and the skull turned out to be beyond competition.

On the street at the time of our arrival, various dwellings and outdoor fireplaces were being restored. Probably today they can be seen in full splendor.

In general, oddly enough, the main wealth of this museum is... the forest, which stretches for hectares around.

When we were going to Tyumen, Yandex said that there was a zoo

.
A survey of city residents in this direction did not yield anything (you will soon get the impression that we were telling Tyumen residents where and what was located - but this is not so). We found it, or rather the “ Steel Excitement
” complex, on the basis of which it is located on the same tract.

Strictly speaking, calling several cells a zoo is overkill. But again, the child liked it. Firstly, no one crowds around the bars (we were alone again). Secondly, you can feed Styopa the hare through the bars, “if it suits you.” Thirdly, in my opinion, geese and chickens roaming freely never leave children indifferent.

Personally, I liked the “set” of animals - such a successful one, Siberian: a bear, wolves, a fox, the aforementioned hare, arctic foxes, a raccoon... And the names on the cages are creative - Berlozhnaya Street, Wolf Avenue, Hare Boulevard, etc.

In addition to the zoo, the complex also houses an ethnographic museum of the peoples of the north.

. This can be called a continuation of the previous museum. The same yurts + wooden sculptures. But crawling around and touching everything (and trying on costumes, if you’re not squeamish) is really cool.

Well, as you understand, I think from the name - in this complex you can also shoot with almost all types of weapons.

A little personal...

In general, I would gladly repeat the trip to Tyumen. Nice people, beautiful city. The only thing is, it seems to me that his old streets and houses suit him better than new buildings - but there’s no escaping technological progress, no matter how you look at it.

And, despite the development of civilization in full, Tyumen pleasantly surprised me. A very green and VERY clean city. Especially in comparison with Yekaterinburg, I even felt a little envious.

One piece of advice is to take a navigator with you. In general, of course, this device will be useful in any city - but in Tyumen, where even parallel streets manage to intersect - especially.

It is also worth noting the amazing nature around the city. But the absence of mountains, such as in the Urals, seems unusual...

Have a nice trip!

Churches of Tyumen

The Znamensky Cathedral represents the architectural and spiritual crown of Tyumen. Founded in 1786. The cathedral is of great interest not only for devout parishioners, but also for lovers of antiquity, as it is the oldest temple of Orthodoxy.

The Eliinsky Convent is located away from the city center, on the landscaped embankment of the Tura River. Today, the monastery operates a shelter for orphan girls, a sewing workshop and an almshouse for elderly women. Every year the monastery is visited by many pilgrims and tourists who have a desire to take part in divine services, as well as those who want to enjoy the beautiful view of the monastery.

Why is Tyumen considered one of the best cities for recreation?

Tyumen is the very first Russian city in Siberia; it was founded much earlier than St. Petersburg. Tyumen is one of the central megacities of Siberia. It is not surprising that the city is very interesting for its attractions and has many unique features. As a rule, visitors are surprised by some of the city’s sculptural structures. Tyumen is a major business center of Siberia. Many people come here on business, so there are plenty of hotels of any price range here.

What are Hot Springs?

Hot Springs - Thermal springs are underground water that comes out of the ground and has a temperature higher than the average annual temperature in the area. All mineral springs are divided into warm - the water temperature is 20-37 degrees, hot - 37-50 degrees and hypothermal - very hot with a temperature of 50 degrees and above.

For example, in Iceland there is a hot spring, Deildartungukver, in which the water is 97 degrees all year round, this is the largest thermal spring in Europe, which also brings economic assistance. Hot water from the spring can be used to heat houses, which is what they do in Iceland.
