House-Museum of V.I. Lenin
The house in the courtyard of which that same little Volodya Lenin “with a curly head” and “in felt boots” was running along an ice slide, at that time still being Ulyanov. Here he grew up, played and, of course, “studied, studied and studied again.”
This place takes visitors back to those distant years when Lenin was still very young, and perhaps was just beginning to think about politics. The home of the Ulyanov family seems to tell us that even such famous people needed the same things as an ordinary person - a warm bed, a mug of hot tea and evening leisure with a fascinating book.

Spaso-Voznesensky Cathedral
Among the architectural sights of Ulyanovsk, the Spaso-Voznesensky Cathedral, which is especially important for Orthodox Christians, occupies a special place. It was built back in the 17th century, but in the harsh 30s of the last century it was closed and then destroyed.
And only in 2014, to the great joy of believers, the first service in many years was held there. And in 2015, Patriarch Kirill celebrated the Divine Liturgy in this sacred place.
The cathedral amazes with both its interior decoration and the external beauty of its golden domes. He will always shelter within his walls all those who long to find solace and peace in faith.

Historical and Memorial Center-Museum of I. A. Goncharov
Another interesting place in Ulyanovsk for tourists. The museum is organized in the house of the great Russian writer, where he lived and worked. Perhaps it was in this room that the image of that very Oblomov that the reader remembered was born.
Particular attention should be paid to the exhibition department. The exhibition is based on the personal belongings of Ivan Goncharov and his relatives and friends. All of them are genuine. The excursions are very interesting and educational, revealing to us different sides of the author’s personality.
The center has its own hall where cultural events are held, there is a conference room, and a library. A children's center has also been created.
Ulyanovsk is the cultural capital. Ulyanovsk is a city of contrasts.
So many characteristics can be found to describe this place. It is so different, and most importantly, so interesting for all ages.
Ulyanovsk is filled with various recreational places, which for the most part are known only to city residents. After all, tourists usually visit only attractions, but interesting recreation areas are known only to city residents.
For this reason, I would like to tell you more about those places that will definitely be interesting.
To begin with, I would like to offer a list of places where you can go with children . Going somewhere with a child is a whole event. After all, if he is bored and uncomfortable, then so will the rest of the people around him.
Singing fountains are a favorite entertainment for children in Ulyanovsk. On warm summer evenings, when music is playing on the square and colorful lanterns are shining, a huge number of children jump and run on the water, trying to try their luck and not get hit by a strong stream.
Lenin Square, the very place where these fountains are located, can be interesting for many other things. For example, horse and pony rides, cotton candy and attractions. These are the simple joys and desires of all children!
The Ulyot water park is a place of entertainment all year round. Whether in summer or winter, the doors of this place are open to visitors.
The Skazka cafe in the former Children's World building is another favorite place for children. A huge recreation area with toys, a playground and video games - this is what every child dreams of.
Children's space in a shopping mall.
This recreation area is simply huge. There are both attractions and slot machines. Children are constantly monitored. There is also a Children's menu so that children can eat their favorite “snacks”.
If we talk about warm days, then these are, of course, the city’s parks. Park "Family", "Youth Park", "Park Matrosov" and "Victory Park". There you can find animals, games, children’s favorite sweets, and various entertainment.
Undoubtedly, the city is filled with young people who constantly want to visit new places. This is exactly the group of the population that is ready to explore the city every day in search of new “trend” places. These can be clubs, bars, restaurants, parks, “chill zones” and spaces for cars, where it is popular and entertaining to listen to music and communicate in large groups.
One of the most popular places is, of course, Aquamall. This is the largest shopping center in the city, where you can buy something, eat, go for spa treatments and visit a cinema.
Further, all respondents named coffee shops that are now extremely popular. These are C offee Bean , Dali , Il Carro, Volsov, Traveler's Coffee and Why Not . These names appear most often in conversations and advice on where to go.
These coffee shops are popular not only for their product range, but also for their competitive prices. Also, the interior is very suitable for Instagram bloggers, which is the reason for the constant sold-out in these places.
A place like Kvartal is very popular among creative youth. This is a kind of creative space where you can express your really crazy ideas and easily find new friends. Most often, students of the city spend their free time there, since it is there that all large-scale University events are invented and planned.
“ UMA ”, Kravchenko Group restaurants Gonzo ”, “ Vse Svoi ” are the best restaurants, according to young people. A pleasant atmosphere, loyal prices, attentive service and a desire to come back again and again - this is what distinguishes these places from all others.
Also, undoubtedly, young people are interested in clubs and bars. But quite often, the question arises about where to go, since most of the options presented are not pleasing to the eye.
Therefore, after surveying Ulyanovsk youth, we can make a rating of the best of the best.
Firstly, this is " Day & Night ". This is not just a restaurant with an incredibly beautiful interior, but also a club at night. The prices, of course, are not small, but such a vacation is worth the price.
Next, “ Top Hop ” is a bar-restaurant located right in the city center. This is a favorite place for Ulyanovsk youth; on weekends there aren’t even enough seats and people dance outside the doors of the premises, right on the street.
And finally, the Royal Music Hall , a relaxed restaurant by day and popular club by night. Very often, themed parties and celebrations of university events are held there.
These places are the most popular among people from 18 to 27 years old.
Of course, we cannot miss such a segment of the population as pensioners .
In fact, they also love to go to different places. These are, of course, not clubs, but they are also places that deserve attention.
They have a huge number of clubs based on interests and areas. But it is much more important to name exactly the places where they will feel comfortable spending their free time.
“ Vladimirsky Garden” is an area where older people can engage in fitness, dancing, various practices and even play chess. For this purpose, there is a stage and instructors who can help anyone with this.
“Ulyanovsk Philharmonic” is a place to meet and talk about great things. Also a very popular place for retirees.
“Ulyanovsk Regional Drama Theater ” is always filled with elderly people who want to spend their evening culturally in wonderful company.
The Lenin Memorial quite often hosts various exhibitions and fairs, the visitors of which are pensioners.
Well, Lenin Square is a popular place for them. There they can listen to live music, ride a horse-drawn carriage, buy souvenirs and just hang out with their friends and grandchildren.
As you can see, Ulyanovsk is really filled with a huge number of interesting places. And we indicated only those that were mentioned by all of the random city residents we interviewed.
There are also many pizzerias, burger joints, parks, clubs, squares, attractions and recreation centers. Ulyanovsk is truly a cultural capital.
Very often you can hear that there is nothing to do in Ulyanovsk and you have to stay at home. But this is not at all true if you have a company of like-minded people and a list of places according to your interests.
Monument to Nikolai Karamzin
In this monument to Ulyanovsk, the sculptor very subtly reflected the style of the era of classicism, during which the great Russian historian Nikolai Mikhailovich Karamzin lived and conducted his research. On the pedestal we see a statue of the muse of history, Clio. In one hand she has the tablets of immortality, in the other a trumpet. Below is a bust of the historian himself in a recessed niche. The other ends depict stories from the writer’s life in the form of high reliefs. Among them is his dialogue with the emperor; the next one depicts the sad death of the author.
This monument is not only to a prominent figure in Russian historical science, but also to the invaluable works that he left behind.

Where does Father Frost live in Moscow?
Visiting New Year's grandfather will be happiness for any child. Everyone knows that the main Father Frost of the country lives in the Vologda region, in Veliky Ustyug. However, the hero, so beloved by children, of course, could not do without a residence in Moscow. There are several of them here.
Moscow estate of Father Frost
- Address: Volgogradsky Prospect, 168D, building 7.
Since 2005, New Year's grandfather had a capital residence in the Kuzminsky forest. It is called “Moscow Estate of Father Frost” and is part of the Kuzminki-Lublino museum-reserve. You can get to Santa Claus in Moscow at any time of the year; the estate is open not only on New Year's holidays, but the most interesting things happen in the winter season.
In addition to the grandfather himself, other characters live in the estate, called the “magical place”: his famous granddaughter Snegurochka, as well as Snowmen and funny creatures “Shurshuriki” - friends and assistants of Father Frost, forest mischief-makers, whom, according to legend, the grandfather found in the forest and sheltered. They don’t charge money to enter the estate; you only have to fork out for entertainment and excursions.
The main introductory program of this Moscow landmark in the format of an interactive excursion is called “In Search of Your Heart’s Desire.” Grandfather has a magical workshop of New Year's toys and gingerbread cookies - master classes are held here. The range of holiday game programs is updated every year.
Residence of Father Frost in the Riviera shopping center
- Address: Avtozavodskaya st., 18.
From mid-December until the end of the New Year holidays, Grandfather Frost receives young guests in his “temporary” residence on the third floor of the Riviera shopping center, at the Avtozavodskaya metro station. This residence operates under the auspices of the Fairy Tale House museum.
The residence is colorfully decorated, and children are promised a real immersion in a fairy tale. The children will enjoy a fascinating performance and communication with grandfather and his friends, the snowmen, who entertain visitors.
House of Santa Claus on the “Island of Dreams”
- Address: ave. Andropova, 1.
“Dream Island” is the largest indoor amusement park, opened in 2020 in the south of Moscow in Nagatinsky Zaton near the Technopark metro station. Conventionally, it is divided into three zones:
- “City Promenade”, where the streets of the world's largest capitals of London, Barcelona, etc. are modeled;
- “Landscape Park” is an adjacent walking area designed by Italian architects;
- An amusement park with several thematic sectors dedicated to various well-known stories, “Pinocchio Fairytale Village”, “Hotel Transylvania”, “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”, “House of the Smurfs”, etc.
During the New Year holidays, Father Frost's reception room is open here. His house, located near the Snow Queen's Castle, opens its doors to children in the second half of December - early January.
Museum-estate of urban life in Ulyanovsk
By visiting this landmark of Ulyanovsk, you will learn about the pre-revolutionary life of the residents of Simbirsk. The building previously belonged to a priest. On display are samples of furniture and fabrics of those times, costumes, dishes, and household items. There is a collector's department where rare and original household items are located.
Recently, acoustic and lighting equipment has been functioning in the estate, which makes it possible to plunge into history headlong, to feel completely immersed in the life of an urban inhabitant a century ago. Creaks, voices, ringing, sounds of musical instruments - this has its own charm.
Vinnovskaya Grove
They say that this grove is described in Ivan Goncharov’s work “The Cliff”. Not surprisingly, the alleys of the park have a picturesque view, and the park itself is located on the banks of the beautiful Volga. The natural pond brings a special romantic mood. The variety of vegetation in the area is impressive.
For entertainment purposes, there is an amusement park for a fun family holiday. There is a place for newlyweds called the “corner of family happiness.” If you get hungry, you should go to local cafes serving Russian and European cuisine; they have a menu for children. In summer, evening discos and songs at the karaoke bar are popular.
Ulyanovsk Puppet Theater
The cultural institution is named after the first presenter of the television program “Good Night, Kids.” By the way, it was in this theater that the famous Stepashka, Khryusha, Karkusha and Filya were produced throughout the USSR, and then Russia!
The repertoires of performances are designed for different age groups - some you can bring a child to, while others are worth going to for a teenager, and even an adult.
The Family Club has been operating for several years now. Children aged 3-10 come with their parents and try themselves as a make-up artist, artist, director and puppeteer. Theater workers conduct master classes that are interesting and useful for children's development.
Where else can you go?
Children are the greatest explorers in our world, so the more we expand the boundaries of this world for them, the more developed they will become. In addition, not only children, but also parents, who are increasingly asking the question: where to go with their children, need a break from their usual surroundings and everyday life? What exactly can our city of Ulyanovsk offer?
It is not difficult to answer this question for residents of a large city, since the variety of services offered is amazing - these include amusement parks in shopping centers, and all kinds of master classes, and children's cafes, a zoo, a circus, a puppet theater, a horse yard, a dolphinarium, and a swimming pool.
But a small city also cares about the comprehensive development of its small residents. On the Internet, as a rule, there is a page with a name like “children’s poster of the city of Ulyanovsk,” where all upcoming or ongoing events for children are collected.
Another great invention of recent years is family clubs, which organize leisure time for children and adults, based on the city’s resources. Staging performances for children of different ages, organizing holidays, readings and tea parties in a sincere family atmosphere, excursions to enterprises (post office, theater backstage, factory, fire station), where you would never get to with a child on an individual basis.
The city of Ulyanovsk also has its own attractions. Of course, a child is unlikely to enjoy a long excursion, but a dosed study with a brief but vivid description of the main events is exactly what is needed.
Even if their historical value will not be so interesting to children, it is necessary to introduce them, tell them and show them the riches of their native land - be it a beautiful landscape, industrial buildings or ancient buildings, beautiful buildings - it wonderfully develops their horizons and trains their memory.
We are sure that every parent in our city will be able to remember places where they can have fun and interesting time with their child, and share with us. Where do you go with your children?

Ulyanovsk Drama Theater
The first troupe of the Ulyanovsk Drama Theater consisted of serfs; later people of noble origin also appeared in it. After the change in the form of government and the establishment of Soviet power, the repertoire changed somewhat. It is worth noting that during the war years, the actors toured Ukraine and performed in front of the soldiers.
Now the cultural landmark of Ulyanovsk has acquired a new look, after reconstruction in 2007. There are two scenes: Main and Small. First-class actors perform a wide repertoire, including the famous classics “Woe from Wit”, “Poor Lisa”, “North Wind”, “Marriage” and many others. All art connoisseurs should definitely appreciate the high level of acting and theater directing.
