Where is the resort located
Arkhyz is not just mountain ranges located near densely populated villages. This is a complete natural complex, an excellent place for family and single recreation. The nearest railway station is called "Dzheguta". The settlement itself is located at an altitude of more than 1000 meters above sea level. However, in snowy winters you can ride under the cable car lines, or between the routes leading to Romantic. Perhaps there will be good conditions on the north-oriented slope, but it’s too early to talk about it. In fact, the only opportunity to roll out powder is heliskiing or backcountry skiing from the Fedoseev or Rechepsta passes.

Since the holiday destination is popular among tourists, there are more than 7 tracks on its territory. They are equipped with all the necessary equipment and are divided into classes - for beginners, already experienced skiers and experienced athletes.

- Red, medium – 150 and 1700 m.
- Blue, easy – 500 and 3000 m.
- Green, very easy – 800 and 900 m.
Despite the confusing system of routes, this center is considered one of the safest. Avalanches occur very rarely; rescue and medical centers are equipped throughout the village.

When is the best time to go – skiing season
Arkhyz Park is open all year round. The winter season begins at the end of November and lasts until April.
The climate in this area is quite mild. The weather is mostly sunny. The mountain range protects the territory from cold northern winds. The lowest temperature is 6 degrees below zero. The first snow covers the mountain peaks in early November. Snow cover lasts almost the entire season and begins to melt only at the end of March.
It is best to come to Arkhyz for the New Year holidays. After all, it is at this time that, in addition to skiing on snow-capped peaks, tourists can attend various events and festivals that take place annually at the resort.
How to get there:
By plane
If you prefer the fastest and safest form of transport, get to your winter holiday destination by plane. Focus on the international airport called Mineralnye Vody. From the village to the site – about 200 kilometers.
You will spend no more than a few hours on the road. Flights operate from all major cities of Russia, including the capital. A ticket will cost you 9 thousand rubles per person. The cost may vary depending on the time of year and the presence of holidays during the proposed vacation.
After the airport, you need to get to the bus station by taxi or minibus. Regular buses run from Mineralnye Vody to the Arkhyz resort. Flights pass regularly, but it is important to catch the bus - they pass by the bus station without stopping here for a long time.
By train
Residents of one of two capitals - cultural and official - can take the train. But keep in mind that you will have to spend about 1-2 days on the way. However, this decision does not cause many people to have an unreasonable fear of flying. In addition, tickets for a seat on the railway are much cheaper.
Your first point of arrival is the city of Nevinnomyssk. It receives both direct and transit flights. Getting tickets during the holiday season is not too difficult a task. After this, take a bus to Cherkessk. From there - to Zelenchukskaya, a large automobile station, from where it is easy to get to the Arkhyz ski complex.
There is also a more expensive option. From Moscow you can get to Pyatigorsk or Kislovodsk. The journey will take exactly 1 day. From there you can take a direct bus to one of the resort towns. The possibilities there are no longer limited - there is transport communication between the villages.
By car
If you prefer comfort and are willing to spend money on gasoline, you can travel by private car or taxi. But such a trip can be more expensive than by plane. On the way, try to navigate towards the Zelenchukskaya automobile station. After that, follow the signs - there are many signs for tourists.
If you live in the central part of Russia, try to take the M29 highway. On the way, pass through villages called Otradnoe and Ispravnoe. The roads have been repaired and the surfaces are regularly maintained. Don't worry about getting stuck in any hole.
If you don’t know how to get to Arkhyz, set your navigator to Labinsk. From there you need to get to Kurdzhinovo, then to Pregradnaya. From this locality, go to the already familiar automobile station.
Ski lifts GLK Arkhyz
The slopes of the Arkhyz ski resort are served by four ski lifts :
- "Milky Way" is a gondola lift. Each cabin can accommodate 8 tourists. In one hour, 2,400 people can climb to the top of the slopes. The length of the road is 2,354 km. Travel time is up to 13 minutes. The road is served by routes No. 2, 4.
- "Sputnik" - chairlift. Each cabin accommodates 4 tourists at a time. Capacity – 1800 people per hour. The length of the road is 0.86 km. The rise time is 6 – 10 minutes. The road serves routes No. 6, 8, 10. Tourists with ski equipment are allowed.
- “Moon Express” is a 6-seater chair lift with a protective dome from the rain. Capacity – 2400 people per hour. Road length – 2 km 122 m. Climbing time – 7 – 15 minutes. The road is served by routes No. 12, 14, 16. Athletes with ski equipment or a snowboard are allowed.
- "Northern Lights" - chairlift. Each cabin can accommodate 10 people. Capacity – 2500 people per hour. The length of the road is 3.8 km. Lifting time – 7 – 14 minutes. The road serves routes No. 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11.
- For the youngest skiers studying at the Arkhyzenok ski school, a special area is fenced off - the so-called “kindergarten”. A safe travelator manufactured by Austrian SunKid is installed here. The length of the road is 82 m. The ascent time on the belt lift is 7 minutes.
At the final station of the Milky Way lift, at an altitude of almost 2200 m, there is an observation deck with a brilliant panoramic view of the area. Now a second observation deck is being built - on a flat section of the final stop of the Northern Lights ski lift. It will be almost 300 m higher than the first platform.
Lifts and Ski passes
A considerable number of people who are not keen on skiing come here to admire the views of Russian territories. If you wish, you can take a ride on a modern cable car. A subscription will cost you 300 rubles. The number of lifts is not limited.
For unlimited access to the slopes you will have to pay about 1,600 rubles. Every day the cost of the pass decreases slightly. You can take a subscription for a week - it will cost around 6,000 rubles. There is a flexible system of discounts for children and pensioners. There is a special Arkhyz ski system for companies with more than 15 people.
You can climb the slopes using lifts. There are both chairlift and gondola roads. One cabin is designed for 8 people. Travel time is no more than 7 minutes. By 2020, they plan to build several more lifting systems that will significantly increase the resort's capacity.

Some tips
- There is a small restaurant “Lunka” at Lunnaya Polyana. The entrance is from the lift side, which is very convenient. Prices are average for a resort. They serve good quality natural coffee;
- “Khizhina” is a family cafe in Nizhny Arkhyz. Very tasty dishes are prepared here, and the prices are pleasing - a kebab costs only 300 rubles;
- Cafe "Barberry" offers a large selection of local cuisine. High chairs are provided for children. The staff is neat and polite. Excellent prices (three-course lunch costs 800 - 900 rubles).
Trails
The total length of skiing and snowboarding lines is more than 7 kilometers. There are many nets and protective fences. If desired, you can easily send a signal to the nearest rescue point. You can leave your things in the storage room. All roads are open until 10 pm, after which the road lights are turned off.
There are three classes of roads in the holiday destination:
- Green. Designed specifically for beginners just learning the basics of skiing. Quite short, without sharp turns and height changes.
- Blue. Helps to consolidate acquired skills after school. Trainers recommend riding it only if green roads no longer cause you any difficulties.
- Reds. Only for experienced athletes. The relief is heterogeneous, characterized by frequent changes in height.
It is not enough to just know how to get to Arkhyza GC. You need to choose the right place to ride.
Service-center
The central place in the infrastructure of the resort complex is occupied by the service center, where all the services of the base are concentrated - a ski pass sales office, a ski school, an equipment rental point, luggage storage, a self-service canteen, a first-aid post, and toilets.

A friendly group went to Arkhyz to go skiing. The resort did not disappoint us: the area is well-groomed, the slopes are quite wide and maintained in excellent condition. We belong to the category of beginner skiers, but we also managed to ski on the red-marked slopes. Most likely, professionals will be a little bored on the slopes of Arkhyz.
Modern lifts caused great delight. In just 6 minutes, we found ourselves at an altitude of over 2 km. I really liked the nature.
The only negative is that there are few hotels on the territory of the ski center. If you are a little late with your reservation, you will have to live in the village and its surroundings.
Services, equipment rental
If you have never ridden, you can enroll in a school that operates on the territory of the village. Lessons from a professional trainer will cost you about 1,000 rubles. For this money you get a personal teacher for one hour. In just a few sessions you will learn to ride like a professional athlete.
You can rent boots and equipment here. To do this, you must present a passport or driver's license. In addition, at the rental shop you must show a pass to one of the ski roads. If necessary, it is possible to repair skis or wax them with paraffin for an additional cost.
To get to know the local nature better, you can rent a snowmobile or a bicycle, depending on the time of year. There are horseback riding and walking tours, and you can ride in a jeep.
Entertainment
Even if you're not a fan of skating, there's plenty to do here. You can go on a fascinating excursion to the main attractions of the region. In addition, you can go up to the observation deck. From a height of 2200 meters you can look at the entire Caucasus. During the rest period, the child can be assigned to a special children's room.

In addition, you can visit one of the 60 lakes and glaciers. You can look at one of 12 waterfalls, the sound of which can be heard throughout the village. You can look at the deposit of the most popular mineral water. Arkhyz ski slopes alternate with popular mountain springs.
It is here that the legendary Church Glade is located, where the face of Jesus Christ was discovered. Here you can look at the first temples, preserved from the end of the 10th century. One of the most modern observatories on the continent operates in the mountains.

Sofia waterfalls. This popular attraction of Karachay-Cherkessia is located near the village of Arkhyz. Following the signs it is easy to find the way to this unique site. The uniqueness of the waterfalls is that they are located at an altitude of 3700 m and are recognized as the second largest in the Arkhyz mountain region. The waterfalls are fed by glaciers on Mount Sofia (3637 m).
At high speed, streams of water fall down and form the mountain river Sofia. The sound of the waterfalls can be clearly heard from afar. R. Sofia flows into the main river Arkhyza - B. Zelenchuk. In winter, the Sofia Falls are a stream of ice ; from July to August the waterfall gains maximum power.

Special astrophysical laboratory of the Russian Academy of Sciences , operating since 1966 on the slopes of Mount Pastukhov. It is famous for its observatory with one large telescope with a mirror diameter of 6 m and two small ones, with a mirror diameter of 1 and 0.6 m. A large telescope is used only by specialists, but small ones can also be used by tourists.
The distance from the foot of the mountain to the telescopes is 17 km. You can get here by car on a good road. The RAS laboratory is a sensitive facility, so it is open for visitors until 17:00 and not every day. Tours are offered on Saturdays and Sundays only.
Not far from the village of Nizhny Arkhyz there is an architectural monument of the 7th-14th centuries. Here, in the Nizhne-Arkhyz settlement, there was the city of Maas, the capital of the ancient state of Alania. Scientists believe that the Alans are the ancestors of the Karachais, who lived at that time in the territory of what is now Karachay-Cherkessia. Alania adopted Christianity several centuries earlier than Rus'.
Among the artifacts of the Alan settlement, three Orthodox churches are of particular interest: the Middle one, intended in ancient times for ordinary parishioners, the North one, created in the shape of a cross and supposedly the main cathedral of the Alan diocese (here in ancient times the Alans received the sacrament of baptism) and the South one, founded in the 10th century in honor of the holy prophet Elijah.

The face of Christ on the rock. The shrine is located on a rock opposite the Alan settlement. The gaze of Christ is turned towards the Northern Temple. Not all tourists agree with Arkhyz’s status as an “all-season resort.” Some people think that in the summer there is little interesting there - walking through the forests and mountains, one working store. Even the lifeguard tower is empty. In the evenings - only TV...
Others, on the contrary, believe that at this time of year there is no city bustle and you can easily breathe fresh mountain air. Walking around the area is a pleasure.
Winter is the best time to visit Arkhyz. Although the infrastructure is not yet sufficiently developed. It is especially difficult with children - there are few suitable places for children to relax, food is not very good - you have to stock up on food for them.
The resort is “young”. We can hope that these small inconveniences will be corrected soon.

Interesting Facts
In 2000, a unique phenomenon occurred in the local Church Polyana. On one of the rocks a very clear face of Jesus appeared. Since then, Christian believers have regularly made pilgrimages here.
In the valley near the village you can find an unusual natural monument. There is a beech forest growing here, which is more than 200 years old. It is forbidden to cut it down - the reserve is taken under state protection.
Skiing in Arkhyz is not the only attraction of the resort. The country's popular mineral water is produced in the mountains. According to legend, she is able to give a second youth and longevity.

The electronic queue allows you to track waiting time. Equipment rented at one location can be returned at another. To rent an item, you must present a ski pass and leave a document or cash equivalent as collateral.
The deposit amount for a one-day rental of a set of equipment is 19,000 rubles, for skates – 2,000 rubles.
