The city of Strezhevoy is located in the north-west of the Tomsk region and is part of the Alexandrovsky district. It is located near the right tributary of the majestic Ob River. Strezhevoy is a fairly young city, recently turning only 45 years old. The nearest railway station from this settlement is Nizhnevartovsk (68 km). The local airport is located two kilometers from the town.

The city is located on the bank of the right channel of the Ob River, 70 km from Nizhnevartovsk, 970 km northwest of Tomsk. Marina on the Ob River (6 km from the city). Strezhevoy Airport.
The city traces its history back to the village of Strezhevaya, founded in the 1930s by special settlers. In 1966, the village of Strezhevoy was founded near the village, which received city status in 1978.
The mayor of the city is Valery Kharahorin (elected on March 1, 2009)[1]. Previously, the head of the city was Alexey Vasilyevich Troshin (until November 10, 2008 [2]).

Population dynamics.
As for the influx of people, things here are 50/50, but significantly better than in other parts of the 70th region. As statistics show, people settled here, gave birth and lived happily ever after until 2008. Accordingly, since 1990 the population has managed to maintain the same situation. Just like 20 years ago there were about 44 thousand people here. What now? After 10 years, by 2021, unfortunately, the graph has gone down. The city of Strezhevoy still made attempts to rise, but decline took hold. We really hope that the situation will improve in the near future!

An interesting fact - this distant Siberian town is so clean, beautiful and inspired in the photo. There is a feeling that there is clean air and sound minds. But one thing is certain. Story
The northern parts of the Tomsk region differ significantly from the southern ones, including in ethnic composition. But let's start with the origins of this community. The name “Strezhevoy” is a hybrid of what the fishing village here used to be called.
The root of the word "Strezh" is a Russian word meaning "steep bank of a river" or "bed, rapids, channel, rapids." The village began to be built in 1931 or a year later. The idea to organize a settlement here along the river was inspired by the minerals found.
Starting on January 13, 1966, the Tomskneft oil field management was approved on the territory. A little later, on July 23, houses for oil production workers were built on one coast.
The status of the city was received on September 1, 1978, and previously at the federal level it was considered an all-Union shock Komsomol construction site. And once upon a time the local Khanty people lived here.

Development prospects
Strezhevoy is classified as a single-industry town, where the main industry is oil refining and oil production. In the near future, it is planned to build a bridge across the Vahu River, this will contribute to the development of this northern town, where there is a huge reserve of gas and oil fields. The appearance of the bridge will also facilitate Strezhevoy’s trade with other regions, and this will give a significant impetus to development. Strezhevoy, Tomsk region (photo can be seen below) is not only a city of oil workers, but a city of great hopes for our huge country.
