It is a visit to these attractions that gives an idea of the characteristics, mentality and significance of the city of Sevastopol. Tourists will undoubtedly get a strong impression.

Bumperball

Bumperball is called football with balls. This is a great attraction that guarantees positive emotions.

To play this game, players need to split into two equal teams of three to five people. The game lasts two halves from five to fifteen minutes, since running for a longer time in bumper balls becomes too tiring. The goal of this game is to defeat the opponent's goal, of course, in a specially designated time. Victory goes to the team that manages to score more goals.

A distinctive feature of bumper ball is that this game requires fouling. You can throw your opponent to the ground, push him, and prevent him from returning to the field. It doesn't hurt at all, because the special impact pad reliably protects players from impacts. You can also stand on your head and do somersaults. Visually, the game is more reminiscent of sumo than football.

There are several variations of this game. You can have a massive battle. To do this, the players are also divided into two groups, and then they go wall to wall. You can do some sparring. Its goal is to overwhelm or push out the opponent. According to reviews, bumperball is not only fun to play, but also to watch.

Defensive batteries of Sevastopol

Since the city was created and planned primarily as a base for the Black Sea Fleet, and history forced military operations to take place here more than once, it is not surprising that throughout Sevastopol you will find a lot of coastal batteries.

Some complexes were built before the Crimean War, others were modernized and developed before the 1st and 2nd World Wars.

If you set out to find the remains of most of them, you won’t get away with it in a couple of days.

Mikhailovskaya battery

This is also a museum complex consisting of southern and northern exhibition areas:

On the southern site there is the legendary museum of nuclear submarines - the former classified military facility 825 GTS, I wrote about it here.

On the northern site there is the Mikhailovskaya Battery , which includes the fortress itself, more than 20 exhibition halls, unique exhibitions and monuments.

Moving from hall to hall, you will be able to trace the historical chain of military events, see a lot of evidence of a terrible time, and learn details from the lives of heroes and military figures.

  • Address: st. Gromova, 35/1, Radiogorka.
  • Visiting hours: from 10.00 to 18.00, off-season Mondays and Tuesdays.
  • Ticket price: 300/100 rubles, children under 6 years old – free.
  • Official website: muzey-sevastopol.com

Konstantinovskaya battery

Just a couple of years ago, the Russian Geographical Society reconstructed this complex and now it is open to visitors with a completely new face.

The exhibition and the events described are similar to the themes of exhibitions in the Mikhailovskaya Battery . Therefore, not for fans, visiting both complexes at once may seem duplicative.

You can move around the complex independently or as part of a tour. I recommend waiting for the tour. Groups depart every half hour and the tour length is 1 hour.

During the season, you can get from Art Bay by boat directly to the battery. Every half hour a boat with 11 seats departs from the Barkas cafe. Ticket price is 100 rubles one way.

  • Address: Konstantinovsky Cape, North side.
  • Visiting hours: from 01.05 to 30.10: 10.00-18.00, daily, out of season until 17.00, except Monday and Tuesday.
  • Ticket price: 300/150 rubles, children under 7 years old – free.
  • Official website: ravelink.ru

35th battery

The memorial complex of the 35th battery is an important monument to the military events of 1942 and a powerful fortification structure. During the siege of Sevastopol, many soldiers died here, who defended the city to the last.

The tour takes place along three underground routes, during which you will visit the main premises and structures of the complex, and also learn the whole truth about the fate and heroic feat of the soldiers of the 35th battery.

The excursion is not easy, both morally and physically, so it is not advisable for children under 12 years of age to visit.

  • Address: Cossack Bay, Alley of Defenders of the 35th Battery
  • Opening hours: from 10.00 to 18.00 – internal exhibition, until 20.00 – external.

What's interesting in the area

If you have already explored the city, but want to continue exploring the surrounding lands, you should know where to go and what to visit in the vicinity of Sevastopol.

Inkerman Cave Monastery

The monastery dates back to the 8th century, although the exact date of its construction is unknown. When the Ottoman Empire came to power, the monastery was devastated and abandoned. He received a second life twice - in the mid-19th century and after the collapse of the Soviet Union.

Balaklava Bay

A small bay with emerald-turquoise water, securely covered by a layer of mountain rocks. The harbor is not visible from the open sea, which made its position favorable at all times of war and led to fierce battles for these territories. Now the place is developed and built up, and is also a berth for ships and a parking lot for expensive yachts.

Object 825GTS

A unique building that serves as a base for underwater vessels, equipped with repair docks and utility rooms, including warehouses for storing nuclear weapons. It amazes with its scope and scale. The structure was erected at the foot of the mountain in 1957 and equipped with two exits to the sea for boats. A full-fledged military bunker, equipped to withstand a nuclear attack, was ready to be completely sealed, along with trained personnel capable of organizing preparations for a retaliatory attack. Nowadays there is a museum there, with a huge number of exhibits, interesting for people of all ages. Leaving the facility, you will see the Tavricheskaya embankment, where you can enjoy an impressive view of the city and the cozy bay of the same name.

Genoese fortress Cembalo

Located on the hilly hills of the Balaklava region. Only fragments of defensive structures, towers with loopholes and the ruins of a temple have survived to this day, and many years ago a settlement of traders flourished here, which fell into decay when the Ottoman Empire came to power. Majestic stone structures make you look deep into history, restore past times in your mind, and besides, enjoy a gorgeous view of the blue depths of the sea.

Cape Aya and Fiolent

The name "Aya" comes from the Greek word for "holy". At the beginning of the 20th century, archaeologists found the remains of settlements dating back to 10-15 centuries that lived in this place. This is one of the most colorful and magnificent, in relief and natural terms, areas of the Crimean Peninsula.

The coastal area of Fiolent is formed by steep cliffs, from which a stunning view of the sea surface opens. Under the steep steep slopes of the Crimean Mountains are the best beaches of the southern coastal resort and the most interesting hiking trails.

Art Museum of Sevastopol

The Kroshitsky Art Museum contains collections of not only paintings, but also sculptures, graphics, and decorative and applied arts.

The museum boasts a collection of foreign masters from the 17th to 19th centuries . As well as modern Western European and domestic art.

Something interesting is constantly happening at the museum - educational, cultural and entertainment events, master classes, lectures, exhibitions, marathons and even theatrical performances.

Night clubs of Sevastopol

Premier is a city nightclub, the main advantage of which is a very long bar counter, which has no analogues in Sevastopol. The dance floor is small, there are many sofas. The club plays good music and it is quite comfortable to be there.

In the art cafe “Madame ShoCo” you can drink a cocktail, eat and dance not only to modern music, but also to jazz compositions performed by an orchestra. Spending time in this cafe is great entertainment in Sevastopol for young people.

Museum Underground Sevastopol

If you want to visit something atmospheric, mysterious and memorable, then take a look at Underground Sevastopol.

Once upon a time, boys managed to get into one of the adits or underground shelters. Now the entire network of underground communications under the central part of Sevastopol is within civilized access.

Object S-2, the entrance to which is located from Suvorov Square, is an active anti-nuclear shelter of the highest category with its own sewerage system, air filtration and a well.

Monasteries of Sevastopol

St. Clement Monastery

In the suburb of Sevastopol - Inkerman, there is an ancient cave monastery . This men's monastery, founded in the 8th century. on the site of old quarries. It got its name in honor of St. Clement, one of the 1st popes, who was exiled to the outskirts of the Roman Empire for Christian preaching.

Like all ancient religious monuments, it has its own story about the creation and the monks living here, as well as legends, tales and miraculous cases.

After several reconstructions, there are 5 churches, several buildings for household needs, a fraternal building on the territory of the monastery, and all the cave cells have been put in order. But many cave temples remained abandoned.

You can get to Inkerman by bus 103 from the 5th km ring, 92 or by boat from the Grafskaya pier. Here's the route.

St. George's Monastery

No less interesting will be a tour of this monastery, which is located on Fiolenta above Jasper Beach. The first temples here arose during the times of the Greeks, who received the most miraculous salvation from sea storms after joint prayer.

Further, the difficult fate of the monastery passed through the centuries with interest in its fate among the royal persons, both Alexander II and Nicholas I. Pushkin also managed to visit here during his trip to the Crimea and the Caucasus. They even recently installed a memorial plaque to him here next to the monastery.

You can get to the monastery by taking bus No. 3 from the 5th km or from the square of the 50th anniversary of the USSR.

Churches and temples of Sevastopol

To get a closer look at the history and spiritual side of Sevastopol and its inhabitants, visit one of the Orthodox churches:

  • Vladimir (Admiralty) Cathedral in the very center of the city. It was founded by order of Admiral M. Lazarev on the central hill - the place where the whole story begins. The cathedral is the tomb of admirals .
  • The Vladimir Cathedral (Chersonese Tauride) on the territory of an ancient settlement was erected on the site of excavations of an old temple, where, according to scientists, Prince Vladimir received Holy Baptism.
  • The Intercession Cathedral is an incredibly beautiful temple, different in its style and architecture from the previous ones. Tall slender turrets, onion-shaped domes, pointed vaults and incredible interior paintings awe not only pilgrims, but also sightseers. st. Bolshaya Morskaya, 36.
  • Church of the Archangel Michael - was opened in 1848 as a temporary Admiralty Church during the construction of the main St. Nicholas Cathedral. Now St. Nicholas Cathedral is a rebuilt House of Fleet Officers. The church was once the building of the Black Sea Fleet Museum. st. Lenina, 11
  • The Church of Saints Peter and Paul on the Central Hill is one of the oldest churches in Crimea. A wooden church was founded here back in 1792. The stone temple in the style of ancient Greek churches was founded in 1840. The interior appearance suffered significantly due to the multifunctionality of the building during Soviet rule. There was even a disco here in the 90s. st. Lunacharsky, 39

Historical monuments

Walking around Sevastopol, you will come across memorials, obelisks telling about certain military events and monuments to fallen soldiers and heroes.

The most symbolic and famous remains the monument to sunken ships - in the area of the Primorsky Boulevard embankment.

The Count's pier on Nakhimov Square, where naval parades begin, will amaze you with its solemn appearance - snow-white colonnades, marble lions and a spacious staircase descent.

Walking through the city center and its coastal part, you will often come across interesting and fascinating monuments and historical buildings.

If the topic is interesting to you, then it is best to explore Sevastopol with a professional guide. Much will be revealed the first time, and the sensations from the walk will be unforgettable.

Interesting places in the city

Life here is in full swing around the clock and all year round. A person of any age and different preferences will definitely find something to his liking and will acquire a couple of favorite corners that he will want to return to again.

Count's pier

Nowadays, the pier, beautifully decorated in an antique format, is the main entrance to the port of military ships. There are also memorials in memory of Russian emperors. This classic pier is a good place for a leisurely stroll.

Chersonese Tauride

The protected area on the seashore represents the ruins of an ancient civilization that once lived on the Crimean lands. Presumably Chersonesos was built in the 5th century BC. e. and developed for more than 10 centuries until it was destroyed by the raids of nomads. The study of the remains began in the 19th century and after some time it was possible to recreate the appearance of the ancient city.

Museum panorama

It is a building, inside of which there is a painting more than 10 meters high, reflecting the events and chronicles of the Crimean War. The canvas was created by F.A. Roubo and tells about the fighting on Malakhov Kurgan in June 1855.

Monument to the Scuttled Ships

The majestic monument adorns the embankment and is its calling card. It was erected in memory of all the ships sunk in Sevastopol Bay in the period 1854-55 in order to cut off the waterways to the city of the Anglo-French flotilla.

Primorsky Boulevard

If you don’t know where to go in the evening in Sevastopol, one of the best solutions will be a modern walking alley. It is located on the seashore, fenced from it by a stone fence with antique balusters, filled with flower beds, interesting lanterns and a multi-cascade fountain. At the beginning of the 20th century, there was an orchestra every evening, entrance to one of the parts of the boulevard was paid, and minor ranks were not allowed to take walks.

Ecopark Lukomorye

A place where the whole family should go for the day. This is an entire entertainment complex, including several museums, attractions, cafes and even a theater. Performances with fairy tale characters are organized for children and game shows are held every weekend.

Tower of the Winds

A neat and architecturally interesting high-rise building was erected in the 19th century to ventilate the Maritime Library. The antique octagon is decorated with bas-reliefs and arched windows. The building stood firm during the fire that occurred in 1955 and continues to adorn Sevastopol.

Batteries Konstantinovskaya, Mikhailovskaya, 35th Coastal

The latter is a whole defensive complex on Cape Chersonesus, the thickness of the walls of which is at least 4 m, built to protect the city from the sea. It could fire in a circular manner at the enemy with a range of 40 km.

Mikhailovskaya is a defensive structure, a 19th-century building that survived two wars and is completely intact. Now it is a museum with 20 thousand exhibits telling the history of the Black Sea Fleet.

The Konstantinovskaya battery protected Sevastopol Bay from enemy ships.

Ancient Chersonesus

The name of Sevastopol is inextricably linked with the most unique archaeological monument - the ancient settlement of Chersonese Tauride.

Greek large settlement on the coast, dating back to the 5th century. BC. partially preserved to this day, but excavations continue. Chersonesos is a reserve-museum; you can learn a detailed story and see everything with your own eyes, either independently or as part of excursion groups.

Historical Sevastopol: from the Greeks and Taurians to the present day

Chersonese Tauride

Address: st. Drevnyaya, 1 Phone: +7 (8692) 455-009 (central ticket office), ordering excursion groups: +7 (8692) 24-13-01; Website: https://chersonesos-sev.ru Opening hours: opening hours depend on the month. Full price list for all services here

Walking through the ruins is a special pleasure, because many centuries ago merchants, warriors, and children ran on these stones. In Chersonese Tauride, which first belonged to the ancient Greeks, then to the Pontians, then to the Roman Empire and Byzantium, the remains of dwellings, an ancient theater, and a medieval temple have been preserved.

The city has come a long way from a democratic slave-owning republic to a stronghold of Christianity, where Prince Vladimir was baptized, and then all of Rus'. Now Chersonesos is a nature reserve, where excavations are still underway. On its territory there is a museum and in the center - the single-domed Vladimir Cathedral.

Maksimova dacha

Address: Ekaterininskaya street How to get there: from the railway station bus 17, minibuses 17, 20, 25, 26, trolleybuses 17, 20 – to the “Hospital Complex” stop. There, transfer to bus 12 (or walk 2 km) to the Maksimova Dacha stop.

Everything here is permeated with the sad revolutionary and military events of the 20th century. The history of this estate began at the end of the 19th century with the decision of Alexey Andreevich Maksimov, a construction contractor, and in the future the mayor of Sevastopol, to build an estate for his family. The couple and their children were happy here for only a short time, before the sad events of 1905, but they managed to build several beautiful buildings with columns, terraces, plant trees, create ponds and gardens.

After the suicide of the head of the family in 1908, the dacha, like the whole family, was haunted by misfortunes. Both sons were killed, one of them in his father’s house. In a cozy estate, the new government massively “destroyed the bourgeoisie as a class,” and during the Great Patriotic War the Germans came here and again soaked the land with blood.

Formally, Maksimova Dacha is a nature reserve, but in fact, summer residents and barbecue lovers have greatly damaged what has survived so far. However, picturesque ruins, if you know their history, can make you think about life and once again rejoice at the peaceful times in which we live.

Skel menhirs

Address: s. Rodnikovskoe. From Sevastopol, from the railway station to the stop “5th kilometer of Balaklava Highway” there are buses No. 17, minibuses 17, 20, 25, 26, trolleybuses 17, 20. From the 5th kilometer to the village. Rodnikovskoe buses No. 37, 41, 182, 183.

If you want to delve into the primitive history of Sevastopol and its environs, be sure to go to the village of Rodnikovskoye. Menhir (long stone) is the first human architectural structure on the Crimean Peninsula.

These huge monolithic stones (weighing about 6 tons) most likely had cult significance. However, no quarries were found nearby, which suggests manual transportation of these blocks from afar. How did our ancestors do this? Probably the same way they built the pyramids, the statues on Easter Island and the Great Wall of China.

Touch one of the menhirs - they were touched by the hand of an ancient, primitive man. It is through such monuments that the connection of centuries is restored.

Streets with history:

The Count's Marina is located on Admiral Nakhimov Square. Considered the main entrance to Sevastopol from the sea, it is decorated with wide steps and columns with the date of creation. The guard houses have been preserved. They say that if you put your palm in the mouth of one lion (any one) and make a wish, it will definitely come true.

The embankment of Sevastopol is Primorsky Boulevard, Kornilov, Klokachev and Crystal Beach embankments. The length is more than two kilometers. On the route you will see monumental architecture, cliffs, a monument to sunken ships, a dolphinarium, and a sundial.

Parks of Sevastopol

The city has several squares and park areas for recreation.

According to reviews from tourists, Victory Park is the most attractive for relaxation and walking. It has many alleys and memorial areas, there is a monument to St. George the Victorious, and from the park you can get to the embankment, where entertainment, a beach, and catering establishments await you.

The park has finally completed its long-suffering restoration and now it truly beautifies the city.

Primorsky Boulevard , although not a park, is also a favorite place for walks for both locals and tourists.

This place is historical and cultural, and in addition to the monuments here you will see the theater, the former Pioneer Palace, the Institute of Biology of the South Seas, walk along the alleys, get stuck on the observation deck and enjoy the seascape.

Recently, the social space of the city has begun to be put in order, so, in fact, now you can take a walk not only in a large park, but also in small squares, of which there are quite a lot in the city.

Squares: Ekaterininsky (there are two of them in the city, on Lenin Street and Nakhimov Square), Student, Heroes-Internationalists, named after. Gorky, and many other recreation areas.

Travel to Lukomorye

Ecological park "Lukomorye" is an entertainment in Sevastopol that will appeal to both children and their parents. This is a park with a vast territory on which there are many playgrounds and attractions. The fabulous atmosphere of Lukomorye is created by small sculptures of characters.

There are several original museums in the park, a visit to which will not cause boredom for a child: the “delicious” Museum of the History of Ice Cream and the Museum of Chocolate, the exotic Museum of the Indian, the nostalgic Museum of Soviet Childhood. Children will also be delighted with the contact zoo corner. You can pet the animals, feed them, and be in close proximity to them.

In the cafe "Melnitsa" you can treat yourself to environmentally friendly fresh products.

Both children and adults like this amusement park in Sevastopol, and the reviews confirm this.

Sevastopol for children

Here I will give only a couple of ideas for implementation, but, in fact, there is always something going on in Sevastopol. In order not to miss anything interesting, check out the calendar of events in the city for 2020 in advance.

Eco-park "Lukomorye"

Which is located on Pobedy Avenue, 1a. For a fun time with kids, head here.

This is a whole complex, on the territory of which, by the way, the most interesting museums are located - Marmalade, Ice Cream, Soviet Childhood and others. It also has its own zoo and attractions, and on holidays there are entertainment events for children and adults.

A wonderful entertainment in Sevastopol for children and their parents will be a visit to the Sevastopol Aquarium. In addition to the living inhabitants of the aquarium, there are also frightening stuffed animals of various sharks and a crocodile (which can be mistaken for sleeping).

The Sevastopol Aquarium was opened at the end of the 19th century. Numerous stands in the halls tell about its history.

Intellectual evening relaxation

If you don’t want to combine entertainment with chewing, but have great cultural needs, it’s worth studying the city’s theater and film posters. There are a lot of theaters and cinemas here - there is always something to watch in the evening in Sevastopol.

The most famous theaters are the Drama Theater. Lunacharsky and Black Sea Fleet named after Lavrenev. There are also original institutions, such as the Dance Theater. During the season, Crimean settlements are characterized by high touring activity - visiting celebrities try to get to the peninsula in the summer. It’s easy to find out the schedule of performances - they post posters around the city and publish them in the media, and most hotels help guests with this.

Getting tickets is more difficult; for top-rated performances, all seats can be sold out in advance. You can also give instructions to the hotel staff here - many resort establishments provide such a service. You can also book theater tickets in advance, along with hotel rooms - after all, the tour schedule is known almost six months in advance.

If the theater seems outdated, you can go to the cinema. Evening sessions are for adults; children are allowed there only with their parents and under their responsibility. There are also plenty of cinemas in Sevastopol - Pobeda, Moskva, shopping centers. It’s possible to buy a movie ticket “today” (if we are not talking about a long-awaited premiere), so this is a good option for those vacationers who have a question about “what to do in the evening” after returning from the beach.

Most Sevastopol cinema centers have equipment for 3D screenings. It's easy to book tickets online for these attractions.

Excursions around the outskirts of Sevastopol

If you have already visited all the museums and examined all the monuments of Sevastopol, you can move on to entertainment and excursions in the surrounding area.

  • The most popular summer vacation remains sea cruises on boats or yachts with excursions to other cities of Crimea, which I wrote about in more detail in this article.
  • Excursion to the vintage wine factory in Inkerman . You will find a walk through ancient wine cellars, some secrets about winemaking, amazing facts and tasting.
  • Don’t forget about neighboring Balaklava - read about its attractions and entertainment here.
  • On the embankment you will find offers for all occasions - horse riding, walking, cycling. If you don’t want to take a pig in a poke, then choose your own adventure on this site.

Dolphinarium

In Sevastopol, the dolphinarium is located in the central part of the city - on the embankment. Those looking for entertainment in Sevastopol can head to this place, where artistic, quick-witted dolphins and funny fur seals demonstrate their skills. After the show, you can swim in the pool with dolphins, of course, for a fee. You can also take a photo with the sea artists.

The dolphinarium hosts 3 performances per day. A trip to the dolphinarium will leave only enthusiastic impressions on tourists.

From the cafe next to the dolphinarium, you can clearly see the rehearsals of the lovely artists and their patient trainers if you take a table by the window.
