What sights can you see in Anapa on your own, where to go on excursions, interesting entertainment

The charming city in the Krasnodar region is known as one of the best children's resorts. The unique climate allows vacationers to do almost without acclimatization and immediately go to the beach or for a walk. You can outline what you can see on holiday in Anapa and the surrounding area on your own, choose interesting attractions and excursions using a guidebook with photos and descriptions or by looking at reviews about this sunny resort in advance.

Independent walks around the resort of Anapa

There are no special historical or architectural monuments here; for them you will have to go to the outskirts of Gelendzhik, Sochi, Tuapse. But local cultural and entertainment facilities are quite enough for a pleasant holiday.

Bringing Down the House

The fashion trend has also captured Anapa. The attraction is designed for the paradox of perception, opened in 2014 and is constantly popular. The upside-down interiors are very realistic, and photographs taken in the interior will make you smile at the memories more than once.

Address: Krasnoarmeyskaya, 8.

Cost: 150 rub.

Russian Gate

One of the few surviving monuments of military architecture from the Ottoman Empire. The restored fragment shows how powerful and inaccessible the fortress was. It had 7 bastions, a deep ditch around the perimeter and three gates. The Russian gate was located on the eastern side of the structure.

Address: Pushkin street.

Ocean Park and Nemo Dolphinarium

The halls of the oceanarium perfectly combine entertaining and educational tasks. While admiring the colorful inhabitants of the aquariums, an unobtrusive audio story is given about their habits and living conditions. Residents include stingrays, sharks, crustaceans and tropical fish. It is better to check the schedule of the dolphinarium show on the official website.

Address: Pionersky Avenue, 20A.

Cost: adult 800, for children under 5 years old admission is free.

Where to go in Anapa and what to see

There are many interesting and memorable places in the city; special attention is paid to attractions and monuments.

Archaeological Museum Gorgippia

It consists of 2 parts, which includes an excavation segment and an exhibition of artifacts located in the pavilion. There are statues, fragments of decorative elements, coins, and jewelry here. The museum staff captivates you with their stories so much that the 1.5 hour excursion is a breeze.

Address: st. Embankment, 4.

Cost: 350 rub. single, 250 rubles to the local history halls.

Museum of Local Lore

The exhibition is located in the ancient building of the former gymnasium and is dedicated to the times of the Bosporan Kingdom. The collections contain household items, weapons, and equipment. An interesting collection of decorative and applied arts.

Address: st. Protapova, 1.

Cost: 250 rubles, preferential – 130 rubles.

Big Utrish

Big Utrish is a dead end in this direction. Having arrived, you come across a small area with absolutely no room. From this site there are narrow paths leading to houses where it is practically impossible to pass each other. During the high season there is generally a problem with the people, there are too many cars and people for this modest place. Parking prices are higher than average for all areas of Anapa.

The beach is not bad, pebbly, which makes the water seem cleaner. The beach is crowded with tourists especially in summer. Cars are abandoned on the slopes along the road and you have to walk almost a kilometer. There is paid parking, but there is not always space there.

This area is praised for its mountain air and relict forests. Juniper. However, in my opinion, this place does not deserve special attention. Prices are the same as in other areas of Anapa, the beach is similar to other pebble ones. To be honest, Big Utrish seemed to us just an advertising project. It’s better here than in Anapa itself, but for example we liked Supsekh and Vityazevo more. Although, during further travels along the Black Sea coast by car, we found much more interesting places. I won't get ahead of myself.

In general, we’re moving on; we don’t want to stay here for long.

Sights and entertainment of Anapa

If you are looking for something interesting in Anapa where you can visit with your family, pay attention to the entertainment complexes and walking routes.

Anapa lighthouse

It can safely be called ancient, since it was built in 1898. Built according to classical canons, an octagonal shape was chosen. At first the fire was maintained by burning oil, but now it is switched to automatic mode and the presence of a person inside is not required. It gives the embankment a special charm and looks great on postcards and photos.

Embankment

The most popular place for walking does not remain deserted even in the low season. The total length is 5 km. The central part is 1600m, decorated with original flower beds and flower arrangements. In the evening, bright lighting turns on, giving the walks a flair of romanticism. There are a number of cafes and restaurants serving European and Mediterranean cuisine along the embankment; the main attractions are located nearby.

Bugaz Spit

The famous beach for lovers of wild recreation and kite surfing stretches for 13 km. from Blagoveshchenskaya to Veselovka. You can drive directly to it by car. But vacationers try to park at the very beginning of the lane and not disturb others. There is complete freedom here, the shore is not cluttered with attractions and pavilions, the sand spit is convenient for leisure with children, the sand is soft, the entrance to the water is gentle.

Anapa by car, first impressions

In principle, Anapa is a pleasant city, quite civilized, but during the summer holidays something indescribable happens here:

  • many cars are abandoned blocking the passage on roads and sidewalks
  • tourists on vacation special occasion . Exhausted from the heat, slightly tipsy and/or fully confident of their own immortality, they climb onto the road without looking around. Therefore, in many resort towns there is a speed limit of 40 km/h
  • Car enthusiasts, sometimes not very careful and intelligent, can fly out from the adjacent territory, honk at you, curse you, and drive off in an unknown direction, especially if the car has Rostov or Krasnodar license plates.

You will be interested to read about the culture on Russian roads

So, first of all, advice to everyone who comes to Anapa by car is maximum vigilance on the roads, sidewalks and pedestrian crossings during the holiday season. Don't ruin your holiday for yourself and others.

Therefore, while we were transporting our fellow travelers to their final destinations, we thoroughly enjoyed:

  • narrow streets filled with cars of tourists from different regions of our big country
  • traffic jams that form in a couple of minutes, and at the same time you can stand in them for up to a couple of hours, or even more, according to the stories of local residents.
  • people who have forgotten about their own safety

After all, the city simply cannot cope with such a flow of visitors. Almost everywhere the roads are two-lane and cars are lined up on them in long streams. And here our valiant police are driving a lowered Priora, I present the photo without comments that they managed to take while passing by.

Why did we go explore the surroundings of Anapa by car?

The city beach of Anapa is simply creepy. The sea is in bloom and mud floats along the entire length of the beach near the shore. It all looks like a real swamp, and it doesn’t smell any better. People wallow in all this, and then complain and cannot understand why they catch all sorts of gastrointestinal diseases.

On the beach everyone is lying on top of each other. It is almost impossible to get to the sea. Many people are unhappy - they were probably waiting for another Anapa. At the same time, they come here, give away decent savings, but whether they relax, that’s another question?

Read in detail about the cost of a holiday in Anapa

It amazes me how people can pay unimaginable money for such conditions, because this is not a vacation, but some kind of torment. Housing prices in Anapa are inflated: a cheap room costs about 2,000 rubles, and only if you are very lucky to find it somewhere a kilometer from the sea. Fruits in season are about twice as expensive as what you can buy near Moscow. But if there is demand, there will be supply.

After looking at all this:

  • dirty sea in Anapa
  • dirty beach covered in mud and algae
  • high prices for housing and food in Anapa
  • crowds of people filling the city

If you like Anapa or another resort, I recommend using the service for finding housing from local residents AirBnB . If you register using my link, then on your first booking you will receive a discount of 2100 rubles (which is two nights in inexpensive apartments.

We went by car to further explore the surroundings of Anapa and the entire Black Sea coast. Our path lay in the village of Blagoveshchenskaya.

Lermontov gazebo

The Belvedere rotunda is built of light, elegant stone. It is located between the villages of Sukko and Bolshoy Utrish and is installed on the very edge of the cliff. The name is given in honor of the great poet, who spent considerable time in the Caucasus, devoting enthusiastic lines to the nature of the region. Anyone can enter the gazebo and enjoy the view.

Monument-stele “Soaring Eagle”

The proud bird with its wings spread is considered a symbol of the Caucasus mountain range. The monument was created according to the design of Polyakov and Rysin and opened in 2013. According to local residents and professional guides, it marks the beginning of the mountains. From the platform near the stele there is a stunning view.

Musical fountains

You should definitely add this attraction to your list of where you can go and what to see in Anapa in one day. The fountains were opened in 2014. They occupy about 900m in length, 5 pools are lined up in a chain in the direction of the 30th Anniversary of Victory Park. In the daytime it is difficult to even suspect them of something extraordinary, but with the onset of darkness, an enchanting dance of jets begins in the light of spotlights to classical and jazz compositions. The show takes place daily from 22.00 to 23.00.

Address: Krymskaya, 99.

Waterpark Golden Beach

For those who seek entertainment, a large complex of water attractions is open. It is located near the city beach, the main highlight is the panoramic view of the sea. The territory is divided into several sectors, including small ponds for children and a recreation area where two cafes with snacks and a full menu are open. The park is seasonal, open only in the warm season. A great place to visit with a child.

Address: st. Grebenskaya, 1.

Cost: adult ticket – 1500 rubles, children’s ticket – 900 rubles.

Highland

The Anapa area, where it’s not even bad: it’s free, the sea is clean and the ice cream is delicious.

We thought that the photos of the beach below were Supsekh, but our vigilant reader suggested that this beach and multi-storey buildings are still considered Anapa, and only after them Supsekh begins with the private sector.

You can choose your own tour to Anapa on our partners’ websites using the search below:

In this part of Anapa, called the High Bank, there is a beach, it is rocky, I would say coarsely rocky, you need slippers to avoid slipping on them. However, there are fewer people on the beach than on the central beach of Anapa, there is no algae, the sea is clean, but there were small jellyfish here (we were there on July 26, 2021). And it’s not very convenient to walk on the stones; you can hurt your leg.

You need to leave the car in the parking lot on the mountain and walk 400 meters down to the sea in the heat. There is a pedestrian zone and you can’t just get to the beach by car, only veterans and disabled people.

Where to go for a walk in Anapa

In the city itself there are many places for walking, entry is free, and those who need scale and space should take a ride outside the city limits and look at the sights of the surrounding area.

Bald Mountain with air defense balls

After the hustle and bustle of the resort town, it’s nice to find yourself in a quiet, secluded place, enjoy the tranquility and magnificent panoramic views. The air defense base is also visible from the observation deck, but tourists are unlikely to be welcome there.

Lotus Valley

People had a hand in the appearance of attractions and they were lucky twice. When they were digging a canal from the river. Kuban, a change in the landscape occurred, and its consequence was the desalination of water in the estuaries. After this, scientists began experiments on the germination and acclimatization of exotic plants. One of the experiments was crowned with success and at the end of the 20th century, lotuses took root in the Akhtanizovsky Estuary and began to grow. You can observe their flowering from June to September.

Address: Akhtanizovsky estuary, Temryuk district.

Park named after the 30th anniversary of the Victory

After a walk near the light and music fountains, it is worth taking a look at the shady park alleys. It is always crowded; the park is a favorite vacation spot for city residents. Individuals and families come here, children enjoy spending time in playgrounds, adults stroll around the fountains or read the inscriptions on the Walk of Fame. There are souvenir rows, an aquarium, a zoo corner, and a bicycle rental service.

Supsekh

The village itself can be divided into two parts:

  • one, the part where Anapa ends and Supsekh itself begins with the private sector
  • the other, where private houses are off to the side on a mountain called Lysaya.

It turns out that you can only get to Supsekha beach by going down numerous steps from the bald mountain. There are about 800 of them there. Therefore, it is not surprising that this is one of the least crowded beaches in the vicinity of Anapa. Tourists prefer to go to the beaches in Bolshoi Utrish or Anapa itself.

There is incredibly little greenery, practically no trees. One part of the village after Anapa begins on the plain and next to Anapa beach, which I wrote about above, without an embankment. The second part is on the mountain slopes with cliffs and steps to the sea.

To get to wild beaches you have to go down steep slopes, and this is very dangerous, you also have to find where these stairs are. There were no advertisements for housing for rent in the private sector; apparently few people want to go to the beach along the steep steps from the mountain in Supsekha. But the prices here say very little, starting from 1000 rubles for a room with amenities, so if you are by car, you can go to the neighboring beaches at least every day. Taxis are expensive here, but you can rent a car.

Be sure to read about the very good car rental service

And we moved on.

What to visit in Anapa

It’s not for nothing that the city has the status of a resort and some attractions fully correspond to it.

Pump room

There are several mineral springs located in the city. It is important to drink this water immediately, but it is useless to put it in bottles; after a few hours it loses all its special properties. A pump room has been erected for hydrotherapy, visiting is free, you can drink water from any source in unlimited quantities. But some types are insidious and it is better to limit yourself to one serving. Disposable tableware can be purchased at the entrance for 2 rubles. or take a collapsible cup with you.

Where to go in Anapa

Many attractions are located outside the city limits, so you need to get ready for the trip.

Lake Sukko (Cypress)

A cozy body of water is gradually becoming an alternative to the sea. More and more vacationers are seeking to hide in the shade of coastal trees, away from the noisy bustle of the central beach. A unique phenomenon that can be observed from the shore is cypress trees standing in the water. During the low season, the water subsides and it is possible to approach them.

Cruiser Kutuzov

The keeper of martial traditions has become a museum. The dimensions are impressive, 210 m long and 22 m wide. Due to its unsinkability, it is still a model for the newest ships. The museum hosts thematic programs and excursions for children and adults.

Address: Admiral Serebryakov Embankment, 2A.

Cost: 250 rubles, discounted and children's fees – 100 rubles, there are days of free admission, which are announced in advance.

Museum of Technology in Temryuk “Military Hill”

Samples of military equipment are collected at the open-air site. There are planes, guns, tanks, field guns, mobile headquarters and kitchens, even a train. Part of the territory is free to enter, but sometimes controllers come up and ask you to show a ticket, so it’s better to purchase it at the ticket office at the entrance.

Address: Temryuk, st. Rose Luxemburg.

Cost: 100 rubles, children – 30 rubles.

Champagne wine factory in Abrau-Durso

The brands of produced drinks are highly valued and have received a number of awards at international exhibitions. You should not miss the opportunity to walk through the cellar, where huge barrels and bottles covered with noble dust are stored. The guide’s story about the production process, grape varieties, and the secrets of winemaking is complemented by an amazing tasting of several types of champagne with detailed instructions on how to drink and what to eat. Excursion groups are recruited every hour.

Cost: without tasting - 750 rubles, with tasting 1000 rubles. It is possible to book a separate individual or group excursion.

If you are going to Anapa, then the first question that needs to be resolved is where is the best place to stay for a vacation. This choice is not as simple as it seems at first glance. If you think that it is enough to simply choose a private sector or a hotel for a holiday in Anapa, then you are mistaken.

Anapa is not just a city, it is an entire resort region with adjacent villages and beaches. To accurately decide which part of Anapa to relax in, you need to take into account a lot of factors. This is the coverage and location of the beach, the availability of infrastructure near the hotel, the level and services of the hotel itself, and, of course, prices.

We have prepared a complete, but most concise overview of all areas of Anapa with their pros and cons, so that you can make the right choice yourself and guarantee yourself the best vacation!

Interesting things to do in Anapa: where to walk and what to visit

In addition to the beach and promenade, the city has many interesting places.

Lion's Head Castle

A knight's tournament is held within its walls - this theatrical event attracts with its spectacle, intensity of passions and observance of tournament canons. Even though this is only a production, it masterfully conveys the spirit of the Middle Ages, enhanced by the appropriate surroundings.

Cost: morning show - 400 rubles, evening show - 500 rubles.

African village

If you have already seen all the city’s attractions and you don’t know what to do in Anapa during the remaining days of your vacation, then you should go on an African trip.

From May to October, the group “Rhythms of Africa” performs in the stylized settlement. The interactive performance involves the active participation of the audience and is full of dances, songs, and elements of rituals. Many people take away souvenirs in ethnic style as a keepsake.

Address: Sukko village.

Bolshoi Utrish Nature Reserve

Excursion programs include walking trails and longer car trips. The national reserve was created with the aim of preserving unique plants and animals and studying the interaction of ecosystem elements. Tourists are offered routes:

  • Savina gap;
  • Canyon;
  • Journey to the Pearl Waterfall;
  • Coastal area of the reserve.

Cost: from 300 rub. depending on the program.

Village Vityazevo

I can't say that we liked it here. The village is located between the village of Blagoveshchenskaya and Anapa. Quite cultural with a large number of residential and rental houses. With very reasonable prices from 250 rubles per person for regular rooms. You can bargain, choose houses and look closer to the sea.

Only the trick is that there is both the sea and the Vityazevsky Estuary. The estuary is a bit shallow, dirty and sad. Everything is somehow scorched, there is little greenery and trees, there are only houses and the heat is standing, these are the impressions that remain. Although for a budget holiday it’s quite suitable. This is from the estuary side. But on the other hand, everything is a little more interesting.

The main attraction of Vityazevo is Paralia, which translated from Greek means embankment. Here, as you can see from the photo, this is the central beach. And at the same time there is some semblance of walkin srit. People, excursions, food, souvenirs, market, entertainment. In general, it won't be boring.

You will definitely like: the road to Anapa by car from Moscow

Having already left, we learned that Vityazevo also has its own small water park. This is a generally independent village, ready to receive guests. The sea here is no longer as blooming as in Anapa, and this is a big plus. And the village is located very close, so getting to the city is not at all difficult. Maybe it's worth giving him a second chance.

The photo is not ours, most likely an advertisement, but it’s beautiful in a water park, although not a big one

Temple of Seraphim of Sarov

The cathedral in the Pskov-Novgorod style amazes with its proportionality and beauty. It was built with funds raised by the townspeople. A distinctive feature was the high wooden bell tower against the backdrop of snow-white walls. They are not plastered, but simply whitewashed, which creates a feeling of antiquity, although the temple was opened in 2014. The church has a Sunday school, a library, and a youth association.

Address: st. Mayakovsky, 111v.

Monument to the Cossacks who fell at the walls of Anapa in 1788-1828

Free, fearless and warlike, they defended their borders to the last. In memory of their feat and dedication, a monument was unveiled in 2013, erected near the Russian Gate.

Memorial Stele "City of Military Glory"

After the city was given an honorary title, a corresponding monument was erected. The column, made of granite, resembles a Doric one in its silhouette and severity of form. There are benches for vacationers around, and evening lighting is provided.

Monument to Dmitry Kalinin

He immortalized the feat of the Soviet intelligence officer. Covering the retreat of his group, he destroyed about 30 enemy soldiers. In order not to surrender, the scout blew himself up with a grenade along with several other fascists.

Monument ship "Scarlet Sails"

A. Green created an amazing work in which scarlet sails on ship masts became a symbol of hope and dreams come true. Since then, this image has remained unchanged. The ship is installed on the city embankment; during its manufacture, all the main details of shipbuilding were taken into account, so even up close it looks like a real one.

The Wax Museum

Children's Park "The Jungle Book"

If you choose where to go and what to do in Anapa, the theme park will top the list of interesting places to visit with children. Rex Dinosaur Park

The giant reptiles have long been extinct, but are still of interest to researchers. Stories are written about them and cartoons are created. There is a play area for children and a trampoline complex is open.

Address: Central embankment.

Cost: 700 rubles, for children – 600, children under 2 years old are admitted free of charge.

Monument to a Vacationer

The resort has several symbols, including a lighthouse and an embankment, but the most striking embodiment of a carefree holiday was the sculpture of S. Romakhin, who created a collective image of a man lying on the beach and basking in the sun. Such a wave of happiness emanates from him that it is simply impossible to pass by and not smile.

Address: Naberezhnaya st., 80.

Rest in the village of Blagoveshchenskaya

The village of Blagoveshchenskaya is located 40 kilometers from Anapa on a peninsula and is surrounded on three sides by water. Its most important advantage is the wide and long sandy beach. But there is one big BUT. Almost the entire residential private sector is located quite far from the main beach; there is no embankment there. You have to walk to the beach in the heat through a dried-up field along a narrow sidewalk, in open areas. And this distance alone is one and a half kilometers, and if you rented a house in the middle of the village, just do the math.

You might think that I am being picky and comparing with Turkey and Egypt, where hotels have their own fenced-off beaches right at the exit from the territory. But no. In the village of Blagoveshchenskaya, it was true even for me, and I am not afraid of long distances, it was too difficult to overcome the path to the sea and back, sweltering from the heat.

Read about independently searching for tours, including to Turkey

However, holidays in the village of Blagoveshchenskaya are in great demand:

  • There are no fewer people scurrying here and there in Stanitsa than in Anapa, visually, let’s just say the density of people is the same
  • On the beach itself they try to lie down as close to the sea as possible. Apparently they compete in this, pushing each other with their elbows and sprinkling sand when they want to swim

At the same time, the beach is very wide and most of it remains free. And this makes it even more frustrating. When you want to relax without unnecessary fuss, you deliberately lie down away from everyone, and it’s almost impossible to get to the sea. Of course, not everything is so bad, there is a spit where there are fewer people, but local entrepreneurs take money for entry and brazenly profit from it.

There are several sanatoriums and recreation centers near the main beach, but they have been booked for a long time and the prices there are steep. There is a street where there are tents, canteens and cafes, so it is not a wild place, but it is still a village, whatever one may say.

We stopped to spend the night with “friends of friends”; they offered us a more reasonable price for a room than the rest of the village. And most importantly, they agreed to accept it for the night. To avoid problems with a short stay at the resort, I recommend using online booking services, where sometimes the prices are better.

It will be useful for you to know how to get a bonus of 2100 rubles from us for your first booking through AirBnB

We went to the sea to swim. The sea turned out to be icy because... before that there was excitement and apparently a cold current had arrived. It didn't scare us. First day on the Black Sea coast and it doesn’t matter what kind of water it is. The main thing is that I arrived and you can enjoy it. During our further trip the sea became warmer towards the end of the week.
