Climatic features

Clean sea air and a favorable climate have a positive effect on the health of vacationers. The resort town is located in the middle part of the Black Sea region, where two climatic zones intersect. The ridge of the Caucasus Mountains provides reliable protection from cold air masses.

The climate of Tuapse combines Mediterranean and subtropical features. This region is characterized by a diverse flora and rich fauna. The city has many parks and gardens in which both familiar and exotic trees and shrubs grow, filling the air with useful substances. About 1000-1300 mm of precipitation falls annually. Most - in November-March. May, June, July and August are relatively dry months, but there are occasional periods of heavy rainfall.

Tuapse embankment (Marine Boulevard)

The embankment in Tuapse is a favorite place for walks among citizens and tourists. The boulevard stretches along the coast for 10 km from the Vodnik stadium to the seaport. In 2021, the street was reconstructed, thanks to which tiles appeared on the paths. On the sea side, benches and a cast-iron fence were installed, flower beds were laid out, and entry to vehicles was closed.

Near the embankment there are architectural and historical sights of the city: October Revolution Square, “Singing” fountains, sculptural compositions, the Defense Museum, the Sea Trade Port, a sundial and much more.

How to get there

You can get to Tuapse in the following ways:

  1. By rail. Trains run to Tuapse from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Vorkuta, Magnitogorsk, Lazarevsky. Prices for travel from these cities vary and depend on the season. The Lastochka high-speed train travels from the nearest city of Krasnodar to the resort (the cost of the trip is 300 rubles). Flights operate 2 times a day. But you can also get there on a regular passing train, a ticket for which costs about 700–800 rubles for a reserved seat. From Adler there are flights from the Olympic Park station on the high-speed Lastochka (ticket price 300 rubles). By long-distance trains, Tuapse can be reached in 3 hours (trip costs from 730 to 3,000 rubles).
  2. By bus. Direct and transit buses leave from Krasnodar to Tuapse from the station. The price ranges from 400 to 500 rubles. Tourists travel from Gelendzhik by bus in 4 hours. Traveling from Adler to Tuapse by bus will not be very convenient; you will have to make transfers - the ticket costs 250 rubles.
  3. By taxi. Taxi is an expensive and dangerous form of transportation, as the road to the city is very winding. The cost of a trip from Krasnodar will cost 3,500 rubles, from Adler and Gelendzhik airports - 4,000 rubles.

    The M4 highway leads from Moscow to Tuapse

There is no airport in the city. If you choose air transport for travel, you can fly to airports located in nearby cities: Adler, Krasnodar, Gelendzhik. And then get there by bus or train.

Rosmorport Tower

The seaport vessel traffic control tower is located on the central square of Tuapse. People call it “lollipop” because of its appearance: a round blue ball on a concrete pillar. The tower was built in 2003, its height is 60 meters. It is equipped with an electronic clock showing local time and air temperature.

What to see in the city and surrounding areas

One day is not enough to explore all the most interesting things, so set aside at least a couple of days in your schedule for exciting excursions. Let's start with the main city locations.

Sycamore Alley

The longest plane tree path in Europe. The pedestrian route starts near October Revolution Square, runs through the center of the main street and goes 2 kilometers deep into the city. There are benches along the alley. They are all in the shade. Also on the alley there is a monument to V.I. Lenin, fountains “Dolphin and Mermaid”, “Meetings” and many interesting sculptures;

Sundial "Parus"

One of the decorations of the resort. The landscape design project was developed to decorate Vyborg, but then it was decided to implement it in the Krasnodar region. A sundial with hands in the shape of sails adorns Primorsky Boulevard and shows the exact time;

Port control tower

People call it "Chupa Chups". The building was built in 2003. The peculiarity is that the tower has a round glass shape, which is associated with candy. Visiting the building by outsiders is prohibited, but it acts as a decoration of the city and is often photographed against its background;

Fountain "Stone Flower"

One of the favorite places among vacationers. The construction has a plot design based on the story of P.P. Bazhova. Master Danil is depicted. He carves a huge flower from a stone, and the mistress of the copper mountain watches him. She is depicted as a lizard with a crown on her head. The special feature of the “Stone Flower” fountain is that the lighting turns on in the evenings. It looks unusual and romantic. It is not surprising that lovers make dates in this place;

"Singing" fountain

It is located on October Revolution Square. It was built in 2012 on a dry principle - there is no outdoor pool. This allows vacationers to go inside the fountain. The stream of water in one of the funnels rises to a height of 18 meters. It works daily, with a break of 20 minutes every hour. Until 2021, only 5 musical compositions were played, but now their number has been increased. In the evening, when the composition changes, the illumination of the water jet changes.

Museum of Local Lore

It is always interesting to learn something from the history of the city you visit, and where, if not in the city museum, they will tell you the most interesting stories and legends and show you unique exhibits. The museum occupies a mansion that was built in the 19th century. There are three halls, the exhibitions of which are dedicated to the history of the city and the Great Patriotic War. Archaeological finds - tools of labor and hunting, dishes and jewelry - will tell about the ancient people who once lived in these places. Collections collected by local residents are also presented to visitors.

33 meter waterfall

The unofficial name of the waterfall is Perun, and it is considered the largest in the Tuapse region. The natural water giant is located behind the village of Krasnoye, which can be reached by train or bus. You will find a waterfall on the Kazenny Stream, on the right side of the river of the same name. It is not easy to get to, so it is excluded from many excursion programs. If you nevertheless go to “visit” Perun, then it is worth checking the route with the local residents. The waterfall is especially beautiful in the spring, during the flood period - the impression of a column of water falling from a height is amazing.

Dolmens

Not far from the city, near the village of Prigorodny, there is a historical complex of dolmens. They represent an ancient structure for burying the dead. The dolmen is made up of five slabs, four of which are walls, and the fifth is the roof. A round hole was cut out in one of the slabs, which was the entrance to the burial chamber. Archaeologists claim that these structures appeared at least in 1300 BC. Many believe that these places have special energy and are capable of healing and fulfilling their deepest desires. You can go to the dolmens on your own or as part of an excursion group. In the latter case, the guide will take you past the Rock of Wishes, the Stone of Male Power, the Tunnel to the Future, the Glade of Wishes, the Wheel of Fortune and other “magical” places. Almost everywhere you can perform a small ritual to fulfill your plans. Usually the guide tells you how to do this, but for independent tourists there are hints everywhere in the form of small signs with a detailed description of the “magic session”.

Canyon of the Beshenki River

This is a stunningly beautiful place that is definitely worth seeing! You will understand immediately why the river has such a name as soon as you are nearby. Stormy streams hit the Caucasus mountains, the riverbed winds back and forth, the water boils and rages - there will be enough impressions for a long time. It is best to go to the river with an excursion group. As a rule, tourists arrive here on a comfortable bus, and the trip involves a delicious lunch, a visit to the bathhouse and swimming in designated areas. The traditional route through the canyon takes 2.5 hours, and the entire trip will take about 5 hours.

Kiselev's Rock

Its second name is the Rock of Tears. It is located 4 kilometers from Tuapse at the mouth of the Aga River near Cape Kadosh. There is a beautiful legend associated with this place. If you believe her, then once upon a time a beautiful girl and a brave horseman lived here. They were in love with each other and had to meet at the top of a cliff to escape. However, the young lady wanted to once again be convinced of the sincerity of her chosen one’s feelings, and without waiting for her, he threw himself into the sea. The would-be bride had no choice but to mourn her beloved for many years. One day, unable to cope with her grief any longer, she jumped off a cliff. Since then, this place has been called the Rock of Tears. But let's not talk about sad things. The height of this monumental creation of nature is 43 meters. At its foot is a beach where you can sunbathe and swim. Getting here is a bit difficult, but the easiest way to do it is by boat. The tour lasts about one and a half hours. If you want to admire nature longer, it is better to sign up for the last “session”.

Sycamore Alley

In the central part of the city there is the famous landmark of Tuapse - Plane Tree Alley: its length is more than 2 km, thanks to which it ranks 1st in Europe in terms of its length.

The history of the alley dates back to 1913, when in honor of the 300th anniversary of the Romanov dynasty, festive events were held throughout the country and alleys were laid. At this time, Tuapse high school students planted plane trees - one of the most common trees in the southern part of Russia. Along the alley there are lanterns, benches and trash cans, and paths made of multi-colored tiles.

Tuapse seaport

The marina in Tuapse is one of the most impressive and busiest on the Black Sea coast. It receives ships from 36 countries, which moor at 19 berths.

The seaport was built back in 1898, and to this day it is engaged in the transportation of petroleum products, passenger transportation, as well as the sending and receiving of cargo: fertilizers, vegetables and grain.

Nature, climate, city features

Tuapse is the center of a huge resort area and is notable for its mild climate, which makes it possible to enjoy summer six months a year. Today, calling it a complete resort would not be entirely correct. It is an industrial city, a major transport hub, including a railway junction. These factors have a significant impact on tourism: many vacationers prefer to stay here for a short time and go to resort towns located in its nearby areas. According to tourists, the absolute advantage of the holiday is its relative cheapness, especially in comparison with the surrounding Tuapse. Reviews from vacationers speak of the beautiful natural monuments located here. And this is not in vain, because the Tuapse zone is considered the golden mean of Black Sea resorts. Regenerative recreation is very popular here, which is accompanied by treatment in multidisciplinary sanatoriums specializing in healing from various diseases. Many parents send their children to the famous Orlyonok camp located here.

Central city park

The history of the city park begins in the first half of the 20th century, when the hotel owner Tikhomirov set up a small arboretum near the coast, from where one could admire the sea and walk along the paths. In the 1950s, the city authorities restored the park, building a dance floor with a stage, a library, a restaurant and a large Concert Hall in this Tuapse landmark.

In 2015, a reconstruction was carried out in the Central City Park, but at the same time the color of the 19th century was recreated in it: the paths were paved with paving stones, new clubs, gazebos, and an observation deck were installed. In addition to everything, they built a “singing” fountain with classical music and bright lighting, children’s entertainment areas, rental of rollerblades, bicycles and other sports equipment.

Getting here is also not easy. The road follows narrow paths and there are often steep slopes. There are no cafes or shops; this must be taken into account when choosing this place, especially if you have a child with you.

The nudist beach in Tuapse is located near the confluence of the Pauk River into the sea and Cape Kadosh. The beach is surrounded by cliffs and the coastline is dotted with cobblestones with small pebble islands.

One of the most charming and cozy beaches suitable for families with children is the World Children's Beach, which is located in the village of Novomikhailovskoye. It is considered one of the best, since the coastline is completely sandy, and the entrance to the sea is gentle and shallow, which is very convenient for families with children. Several children's camps are located on this beach, but the other half is given over to visiting tourists. There are awnings for protection from the sun and a cafe with delicious food. But you can stay further away from the camp, because the beach is very long and large.

Gold Coast Beach

Another favorite place to relax is the sandy beach in the village of Lermontovo called “Golden Coast”. It is located very close to the center of Tuapse and is very easy to get to. This coastline consists of fine sand, although there are occasional pebbles. The beach is great for families with children, as it has a very convenient and gentle entrance to the sea.

Beach in the village of Olginka

Hill of Heroes

The Hill of Heroes memorial is located on a hill in the city center. There was a church here until the 40s of the 20th century, visible from any district of Tuapse. However, during the Great Patriotic War, the temple was destroyed, and anti-aircraft guns were installed in its place to conduct a defensive operation.

In 1965, they decided to erect a memorial complex in this place, and rename the place “Heroes Hill”. Gradually, memorial plaques with the names of soldiers, the Eternal Flame and the Monument to the Unknown Soldier appeared here. Nowadays, near this landmark of Tuapse there is a functioning church of St. Alexis, and the Local Lore Museum is located nearby.

Rock Kiseleva

The most picturesque natural monument in the vicinity of the resort town is considered to be the Kiseleva Rock. It is a rocky cliff 46 m high above sea level. It got its name from the landscape artist Alexander Kiselev, who at the beginning of the 20th century spent a lot of time working on it.

The painter was able to immortalize the rock in his paintings: “Descent to the Sea”, “Outskirts of Tuapse”. In addition, she appeared in the footage of the famous Soviet film “The Diamond Arm”, where the characters in the film called her “Black Stones”.

However, before Kiselev appeared in the city, this natural landmark of Tuapse had a different name: it was called the Rock of Tears. The Adyghe peoples had an ancient legend about the rich beauty Guash, who lived in these lands. She fell in love with the groom whom she was not allowed to marry. Then she ran away from home, meeting her lover on a rock. Megalithic complex "Psynako"

Not far from the Pshenakho River, just 10 km from the city, there is a mysterious megalithic complex created around the 3rd century BC. It got its name from it: translated from the language of local peoples, “psynako” means “valley of springs.” The monument consists of boulders of different sizes and shapes, being essentially a dolmen - a pagan structure made of large stones.

The monument of ancient culture was discovered in 1972, the main research was carried out in 1985, but scientists still cannot figure out the purpose of its construction. Dolmens are usually tombs, but no human remains were found at Psynako. In the pits, reminiscent of graves, not bones, but stones were found.

Today scientists have two versions of the appearance of the complex. The first theory suggests that ancient people needed dolmens to carry out astronomical observations. The second version implies use for religious purposes: perhaps “Psynako” is a temple in which the Sun was worshiped.
