Nevyansk is a small industrial town a few hours' drive northwest of Yekaterinburg.
This is how the story about Dir began. Therefore, I will not talk for a long time about the iron smelter, built by decree of Peter I in 1701, the dam, the pond and its other satellites. It is much more interesting that soon after its founding, the State Plant was transferred into the ownership of the Tula gunsmith Nikita Demidov with the obligation to pay the treasury in iron within 5 years. The productivity of his factories was so superior to state-owned enterprises that a year later Peter ordered two volosts to be assigned to Demidov's factories. However, such success also had a dark side, which in those years we had to turn a blind eye to... The Nevyansk Machine-Building Plant is still working on the dam class=»aligncenter» width=»1800″ height=»1200″[/img]

But its former building, built right above the Neiva River, was occupied by a branch of UrFU.

Not far from the dam there is a guest courtyard.

The main symbol of Nevyansk is located here - the leaning tower.

It was built in the first half of the 18th century by order of Akinfiy Demidov, the son of Nikita Demidov, whose monument to Peter stands on the territory.

A lot of legends have been invented about the tower. But even without them it is very interesting.

On the third floor there was a laboratory: traces of silver and gold were found in the soot taken from the chimneys of the furnaces. Which seems to indicate that Demidov traded in counterfeiting. And on the seventh and eighth floors of the tower there are English chimes with musical chimes.

The Transfiguration Cathedral was built in the 19th century.

In the 30s it was closed, the domes with the bell tower were demolished.

It was restored only in 2003.

The Soviet government was more loyal to this temple in the village of Byngi not far from Nevyansk. In all this time, he has never been ruined. And it was closed for only 14 years: from 1930 to 1944.

The Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker was founded in 1789, and construction was completed and consecrated in 1797.

The building has been given protected status, but nothing is being done to preserve it.

Although I can’t help but note that after the restoration this pastel charm disappears somewhere...

The clock on this tower no longer works.

A couple more evening photos of Nevyansk.

Swallows stop in the city on routes from Nizhny Tagil to Yekaterinburg and back, so you can comfortably get to it in an hour and a half. And it's worth it. Something like this.
