Descriptions and photographs of the main attractions of Stupino

The city of Stupino is located in the south of the Moscow region, 88 km from the Moscow Ring Road or 99 km from Paveletsky Station.

As you might guess, it is connected to the capital by direct road and rail links. However, the road to Stupino deserves special mention - this is the federal highway “Don”, on which traffic is organized without traffic lights, which means that you can get to Moscow quite quickly.

Metro stations from which you can transfer to transport going to Stupino are “Nagatinskaya”, “Varshavskaya”, “Paveletskaya” (railroad), “Krasnogvardeyskaya” (bus or minibus).

Let's consider the advantages and disadvantages of choosing real estate in the city of Stupino and its surroundings.

General information about the city

A small town located in the Moscow region - Stupino, the majority of whose attractions are dedicated to aviation, is a large industrial center. The city is home to a large number of factories working for the country's military-industrial complex. There are also foreign companies here.

Stupino is constantly developing, but echoes of that Soviet era, when the city was still closed, remain. Everything seems clean and in order, but there is no proper service.

The city has interesting historical facts. For example, in 1931, an order was given to build an electric locomotive plant, which was to be located five kilometers from Stupino. This played a significant role in the life of the future city. Three years later, the village of Stupino turns into a village called “Electrovoz”.

Four years later, the village disappeared because construction of the plant was stopped. However, the local workers, as well as the engineers, did not like this, and they reached out to Stalin. After which it was decided to complete the construction of the plant, but now it specialized in the production of training aircraft, propellers and turbochargers. In 1938, the village acquired the status of a city and returned to its former name - Stupino.

What temples and churches to see in Stupino

The temple architecture of Stupino also deserves the attention of tourists. Most of the local churches are relatively young, but some of them were built centuries ago and are part of the city's historical heritage.

Temple of the Tikhvin Icon of the Mother of God

  • Address: Stupinsky district, Sredney village.

The temple was built in 1821 on the site of a wooden church dating from the first half of the 17th century. The temple is made of white stone in the style of Russian architecture. The main building is crowned by a round drum with a helmet-shaped dome.

Parallel to it rises a two-tier bell tower, decorated with figured masonry and carvings. In 1862, renovation work took place in the church, as a result of which the iconostasis was updated and the refectory was expanded.

During the Soviet years, the temple was destroyed. Many valuable icons were stolen or destroyed. In November 1937, the Bolsheviks shot three temple ministers for underground religious activities. After these events, the church was finally closed and abandoned.

The restoration of the temple took place in the late 1990s. The historical building was restored, filled with new shrines and liturgical utensils, after which it was re-consecrated and the temple resumed its activities.

Church of the Sovereign Icon of the Mother of God

  • Address: st. Tchaikovsky.

The church was erected on the territory of a military camp in 2005. The temple has simple architecture and is made of wood. The building has a quadrangle at its base, with apses adjacent to it on the western and eastern sides.

The roofs of the temple are located at different levels, which creates the effect of a cascading decline. Nearby rises a two-tiered tented bell tower. This building is temporary. In the future, it is planned to erect a stone temple in its place.

Trinity Belopesotsky Monastery

The monastery is located in the outskirts of the city, on the banks of the Oka River. Its foundation dates back to the 15th century, and it was done by Vladimir Belopesotsky.

Initially, men lived in the monastery. After some events, this building turned into a prison and dormitory for workers. In 1993, it was decided to restore the monastery, but now it is intended for women.

In addition to the monastery itself, there are various cultural and architectural monuments on the territory. For example, the Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker and the Church of the Beheading of John the Baptist.

Under the canopy of the gable roof there is a bas-relief of the city coat of arms. There is a square around the building where ceremonial and entertainment events are held in the summer.

Performances of a wide variety of genres are organized on the stage of the Palace of Culture: drama, clownery, dance shows, performances by pop, opera singers and ethnographic ensembles. Another attraction of Stupino surprises with its creativity and unusualness - the monument to helicopter blades. This can only be found here, in the city where they are made.

The monument is a monument to the MiG-23 fighter, which is located on a snow-white pedestal. The nose of the plane is raised towards the sky to give the impression of being prepared for flight. The sculpture has quite impressive dimensions, as can be seen from the photo of the attraction.

Stupino is a small but interesting town. The same can be said about its attractions.

Stupino architectural pearls

In general, Stupino looks like an ordinary town. Its development consists of typical residential buildings, multi-storey buildings and business centers in the high-tech style. However, here you can find a couple of completely unusual buildings, which without a doubt can be called “pearls of architecture.”

House with a tower

One of the streets of Stupino is decorated with an unusual building. This is a two-story house made of stone in the classicist style. Its main decoration is the hipped tower crowning the roof.

On its four sides there is a clock with chimes. At the top of the tower there is a sharp spire with a city flag, which depicts a soaring falcon - a symbol of courage and wisdom.

Tobacconist's

  • Address: Andropova street.

The most unusual tobacco shop in the city (and perhaps in the entire Moscow region) is designed in the form of a chapel. It is a quadrangle, topped with a tower spire, at the base of which is a dome with a checkerboard pattern. The quadrangle is decorated with semi-columns and false niches. A plate clock and two round lanterns hang above the trading window, and the window itself is closed with folding shutters.
