The Resurrection Cathedral is the oldest building in the city and a recognized symbol of Cherepovets. The city itself is located at the intersection of three rivers: Sheksna, Yagorba and Serovka. At this point the Resurrection Cathedral was founded.
According to legend, one Moscow merchant was sailing in broad daylight along the Sheksna River, and suddenly the sky above him darkened and the boat ran aground. The merchant began to pray fervently and saw that from behind the mountain, in the Yagorba valley, rays of light appeared, indicating the direction of the saving path. Climbing the mountain, he was amazed by the beauty and virginity of nature. A year after its discovery, the merchant cut down a small chapel on this site, and later the Resurrection Cathedral was located on its territory.
Monument to Saints Athanasius and Theodosius of Cherepovets

Monks Afanasy and Theodosius of Cherepovets are the founders of the city, and in their honor a monument was erected on Cathedral Square, next to the Resurrection Cathedral. In 1362, they founded the Cherepovets Monastery, around which over time many small villages and trading villages appeared. The monastery acquired the status of the economic center of the area.
During the reign of Catherine II, the entire territory and population of the monastery were transferred to the treasury, and the monastery cathedral became the main one in the district city.

- Resurrection Cathedral. One temple, which is part of a monastery for men. It was erected in the eighteenth century, but today this building is considered the oldest building in the village. During the Soviet Union, a workshop was equipped in the temple. The reconstruction of the church started in the eighties and lasted about twenty years. In the 2000s, a renovated temple with luxurious domes, a gilded iconostasis and restored altars appeared before the residents.
- Church of the Nativity of Christ. The temple is located on Parkovaya street number one. The wooden structure appeared in the sixteenth century, but over two millennia the building was almost completely destroyed. In 1789, a new cathedral was erected on the site of the wooden remains, which operated successfully until 1930.
- Museum-Estate of the Galskis. The building, in which wealthy landowners lived, has been well preserved to this day. The opening of the ethnographic museum dates back to 1989. Specialists completely recreated the situation and restored household details. Once at the estate, guests plunge into peasant life and the traditions of genealogical families. Visitors are invited to engage in equestrian training, try themselves as an artist, or make their own masterpiece out of clay.
- Metallurgical Museum. Another attraction among the famous places dedicated to the main direction of the city - metallurgy. The museum is located on Mira Street at number 42. The initiators of the creation of the museum complex were the leaders of the Severstal enterprise, who continue to finance their project today.
- Chamber theater. The appearance of the first famous drama club in Cherepovets dates back to the sixties. It was not considered a theater, however, the circle continued to develop, improve and delight the audience. Since 1993, the drama troupe acquired status and its own building. Ivan Andreevich Milyutin gave about half a century of his life to serving the city - he was the mayor, a noble merchant and public figure who brought to life the great reforms of the 60s of the 19th century. Ivan Andreevich's house was built in one of the picturesque places of Cherepovets, on a high hill above the Sheksnaya River, and was considered the main one in the city.
According to the owner, the decoration of the house had to correspond to the best metropolitan interiors in order to show Cherepovets in a favorable light and attract the attention of important people from all over the world. The museum began its work relatively recently, in 2006. Currently, the museum has an exhibition that introduces visitors to the life and work of Ivan Andreevich.

Within the boundaries of present-day Cherepovets in the 18th century there was the village of Rozhdestvenskoye, in which the landowner N.D. Panfilov, together with his parishioners, built a temple to replace the old wooden church. During Soviet times, the temple was closed and subsequently dismantled and destroyed by fire. The burnt ruins stood in the city until 1991, when a prayer service was held and the foundation for a new church building was laid.
The building design was recreated with the help of the archives of the Cherepovets Museum Association. Currently, in the newly operating Church of the Nativity of Christ, the relics of various saints and a particle of the Life-giving Cross of the Lord are presented.

Many have seen the painting “The Apotheosis of War,” depicting a pile of human skulls with crows circling above. This is one of the outstanding works of the artist Vasily Vasilyevich Vereshchagin, who was born and lived in Cherepovets.
Currently, his family home houses a museum. The entire furnishings of the house and rooms were reconstructed according to the artist’s memories from his autobiographical book “Childhood and Adolescence.” The museum hosts classical musical evenings and performances for children and adults.

On the high steep bank of the Sheksna River there is a historical and ethnographic open-air museum. It allows you to completely immerse yourself in patriarchal village life and examine the entire system of outbuildings: stables, human huts, 2 barns, an oil mill, a round garden, a saddlery workshop.
The estate, with its architectural ensemble, layout and decoration, demonstrates the beauty of a manor house and, despite its urban location, allows you to relax on the river bank in the shade of trees or ride horses.
Oktyabrsky Bridge
The first cable-stayed bridge in Russia was built in 1979 in Cherepovets across the Sheksna River, connecting two large districts of the city. The initiator of the construction was the Metallurgical Plant. At the beginning of the construction of the bridge, a time capsule with a message for posterity was placed in one of the supports.
During the production of individual bridge structures, which were manufactured at factories in Volgograd, it was decided to modernize large industrial machines to work with more durable and modern materials.
