Ulan-Ude on the map of Russia. Where is it located, attractions

State of the city's infrastructure

The city is growing towards the southwest, the city center is constantly being built up with new shops and shopping centers.

Regarding prices for utilities, we can say that their cost leaves much to be desired. On average, per month the total cost of all utilities in a two-room apartment in a new building will be three thousand rubles or more. In any case, it all depends on where your home is located and what it is like.

The main problems of the city today are traffic jams and the condition of the roads. Roads throughout the city are repaired every year, but this hardly improves the situation. Relatively good roads are found only in the city center, while on the outskirts their condition is rather deplorable. A lot of “patches” that are already superimposed on each other. People have to put up with this and choose the most optimal path, albeit a longer one.

The provision of schools in the city is good. Each district has a large number of schools, gymnasiums, several boarding schools, schools with a physics and mathematics focus, and so on.

The situation with kindergartens is somewhat worse, despite the fact that over the past two years about 5 new kindergartens have been built, and the number of places has increased.

Hotel Buryatia

In the city, the most common public transport is minibuses, mostly Istanas and Gazelles. But over the past few years, a large number of new and spacious cars have appeared. The city also has trams and buses on a variety of routes. There’s probably no point in writing about taxis, because... like in any other more or less developed city there are a huge number of them.

Climate and ecology of Ulan-Ude

Ulan-Ude is located in a temperate climate zone, the climate is sharply continental, the weather can change very radically and unexpectedly in short periods of time. In summer, temperatures can rise to 40 degrees, and in winter (which is not encouraging) drop to 45 degrees. But, in any case, these are practically the most critical moments that have been recorded throughout its existence.

On the other hand, in winter there is no slush, and in summer all puddles dry out very quickly, leaving no trace.

The air in Ulan-Ude is much cleaner than in Novosibirsk, but it is also not ideal. In recent years, the number of cars has increased several times, and thermal power plants and several other polluting enterprises are also operating. But all this is mostly compensated by the fact that there is a significant forest area around the city that purifies the air every day.

130 kilometers from the city is the famous Lake Baikal, considered the most unique lake in the whole world. The most amazing thing is that the lake is able to filter and purify itself, leaving only crystal clear water. There is magnificent nature around the lake; there are even places where no one has gone before. These are huge spaces for exploration and travel.

Population of Ulan-Ude

According to the latest data, at the beginning of 2021, there are about 432 thousand registered people in the city, but as the government notes, in fact, there are one hundred thousand more people living in the city than registered.

The mortality rate of the city's working-age population in recent years has decreased by 14.5 percent and amounted to 688 cases per hundred thousand people. Meanwhile, it still remains quite high. It is also significant that many Ulan-Ude residents continue to die from alcohol poisoning.

In Ulan-Ude, the share of the Buryat population has been increasing since the end of the 20th century, because after the collapse of the USSR, from almost all the villages and towns of Buryatia, many Buryat families began to move to the city due to lack of work, so now in Ulan-Ude there are about 32% Buryats, 62% Russians, as well as other nationalities.

The Buryat language in all schools up to grade 9 is studied as compulsory by all schoolchildren, along with Russian and English (German).

Minerals

Buryatia is the richest territory of our country in terms of mineral reserves. More than 700 deposits have been explored here. Gold, tungsten, uranium, molybdenum, beryllium, tin, aluminum are only a small part of all minerals. And the reserves of hard and brown coal will be enough for the needs of the republic for hundreds of years. It should be noted that the subsoil of this region contains about 48 percent of Russia's balance zinc reserves. The capital of Buryatia is the center of industrial enterprises for the processing of natural resources.

Districts and real estate of Ulan-Ude

Ulan-Ude Map

In 1938, Ulan-Ude was divided into three districts: Zheleznodorozhny, Sovetsky, Oktyabrsky, each of which in turn is divided into smaller territories - microdistricts.

The railway district was formed next to the railway station and covers the surrounding areas where various enterprises related to trains are located.

The area includes many microdistricts, each of which has both advantages and disadvantages, here are a few of the main microdistricts:

Verkhnyaya Berezovka is an elite microdistrict 20 minutes drive from the city center. It includes many luxurious residential areas, a summer camp for children, a hippodrome, ski resorts and an ethnographic museum, and most importantly, all this is located in nature, in the fresh air.

The cost of housing is quite reasonable: from 1.7 million rubles for a plot of 4 acres with a cottage of 180 square meters of living space.

Below you can see the new club residential complex "Europe". These are about 40 households with increased area (up to 500 sq.m.) in wellhouses with Old European architecture, unique for the region.

Club residential complex "Europe"

For reference, a wellhouse is a premium class household, united by adjacent walls with neighboring households. This is a closed residential complex located almost in the forest (of course there is a road), and you can only get there if you are the owner of the house or invited.

Green - this name was given based on the location of the microdistrict; it is surrounded on three sides by forest, mostly pine trees. This residential area is small but cozy.

Mostly nine-story comfortable houses are located here. The people living there are calm, the place is quiet for people who love peace. Standard 1,2,3-room apartments from 18 to 56 square meters cost from 2 million rubles.

Opposite “Green”, literally two or three kilometers away, there are several small villages with wooden residential buildings: these are Matrosova, “Kazakhstan” (that’s what the common people call it, because in Soviet times most of the Kazakhs lived there) and “Ploshchadka”. You can’t write anything special about them; ordinary people live, practically like in villages, they keep some kind of livestock. If someone wants to move there, then there is a real opportunity to choose a small, cozy house with a plot of 4-8 acres and live there peacefully.

Minibus taxis run regularly, and the city center is approximately 4 km away. That is, ten to fifteen minutes of quiet driving.

In addition to those already listed, in the Zheleznodorozhny district there are a sufficient number of less colorful residential areas, for example, “Shishkovka”, “Stekolka” (glass once worked (the military unit and the main part of Ulan-Ude’s weapons are located there), “Bald Mountain”, “Pentagon” (t because the buildings stand in the form of a closed circle).

Microdistrict Pentagon

The Oktyabrsky district was originally founded as a suburban area, but currently it cannot be compared to a suburb, since it is probably the most beautiful and respectable area. It includes residential areas such as:

  • "Sayan" where the tallest building in the city is located - the Solar Tower, built in 2005 on Karl Marx Boulevard;
  • “Sokolniki” is one of the newest microdistricts, where modern cottages have been built costing from 9 million rubles. Mostly successful businessmen and government people live there.

Solar Tower - the first high-rise building in the city

The district includes blocks 111, 112, 113, which delight the eye with new buildings every month, and from block 113 the entire city is visible at a glance.

For nature lovers, behind it there is a huge forest area of thousands of kilometers, which will probably be more pleasing to lovers of long hikes and outdoor recreation. Other people can simply enjoy the clean air and beauty every day.

Housing is quite affordable - from 1.5 million rubles. New neighborhoods are constantly being built in this area, some of the cottage type, others consisting of five-story apartment buildings, and so on. Fortunately, there is enough space for the buildings to move further and further towards the forest. A huge selection of housing for every taste and color, here you will in any case find a property that suits you.

The rest of the residential areas are no less colorful and respectable, but there are also more modest ones: Dry Cleaning, 18th quarter, where there are old buildings in which wealthy old people, mostly pensioners, have lived for many years, or students and young families rent apartments.

Old houses dominate throughout the city

If we talk about modest villages, then in the Oktyabrsky district we should highlight “Komushka”, an unremarkable microdistrict, which is located ten minutes from the center along the road to the quarters. On its territory there is a shopping and entertainment complex “Two Whales”, so those people who live in this village do not worry about food supplies and entertainment.

Much can be written about the Sovetsky district. This is the city's central area with many attractions: Lenin Square, on which stands a monument - a huge head of Lenin. Weddings, most city and all-Russian holidays are held here, and young people have fun here on weekdays. Housing here is considered prestigious and costs from one and a half million rubles.

Ulan-Ude. Local "Arbat"

Also included in the Sovetsky district are: Left Bank, Burvodstroy, on which most of the country houses and cottage villages are located, the cost of houses in which varies from 450 thousand rubles. up to 2.5 million rubles. Banzarka is also located here.

Basically, the area consists of very old houses that stand almost from the foundation of the city and there is nothing remarkable about them except that, in the opinion of the population, they should have been demolished a long time ago, and people should be relocated to new buildings.

Crime

As for crime in Ulan-Ude, we can say that everything is relatively calm, despite some unpleasant incidents. Actually, just like in any other more or less developed city.
