Travel on minibuses Volgodonsk - Tsimlyansk costs 32 rubles. They depart from the railway station. About 20 minutes and you are at sea.
This small town is located on the opposite bank of the Tsimlyansk Reservoir, 20 km from Volgodonsk, and it is here that there is a wonderful sandy beach where locals come to relax. So we followed their example. Let me note that it is very convenient to have the sea within a minute’s distance from home. In Nizhny Novgorod, you need to travel about 70 km to the Gorky Reservoir.
First meeting
I will remember my first visit to this place for a long time. A thunderstorm overtook us. The local thunderstorm literally makes your hair stand on end.
Imagine this picture - you and your loved one are swimming in beautiful, warm water, like fresh milk, with an occasional thundering black thundercloud looming on the horizon. To say it's romantic is an understatement. And suddenly you see how your friend’s hair stands up on his head... and he laughs and says that you do too. That's it, panic, horror and a quick retreat to the shore))) Honestly, this was the first time I saw such an effect, and it really scared me, after all, it’s dangerous to joke with a thunderstorm.

With that, the first acquaintance with Tsimlyansk was completed. Next time we chose a sunny day and conducive to a beach and other holiday.
Economy
In modern Tsimlyansk there are wine, fish processing, and ship mechanical plants. In the Tsimlyansk area there is the Tsimlyanskaya Hydroelectric Power Station, which is one of the city’s attractions.
In the Tsimlyansky region, wheat, barley, millet, buckwheat, sunflower, fodder crops, vegetables, fruits, and grapes are grown. Dairy and meat cattle breeding, poultry farming.
Source of mineral water.
Tsimlyansk also gained fame as a wonderful holiday destination. A large number of sunny days and mineralized water outlets create all the necessary conditions for a good rest.
In addition, Tsimlyansk is famous for its wines, especially the sparkling wine “Tsimlyanskoe”[14], which is produced at Tsimlyansk Wines OJSC.
Transport
Tsimlyanskaya railway station on the Morozovsk-Kuberle line. Transport communications - road, rail and water transport.
There is a Volgodonsk airport near the city, but since the 1990s there have been no regular passenger flights from it.
Intracity and suburban transportation is carried out by buses and minibuses.
Windsurfing on the Tsimlyansk Sea
In Volgodonsk, a group of young people led by Nikita Semegen (or simply Nick) organized a windsurfing group ( #Serfodonsk, search on VK), where anyone can try themselves in this sport for a nominal fee. All summer they rode on the Tsimlyansk Sea, where I met them.
However, it’s been a long time since we thought about our dear friend, the Wild City Dweller. On this trip, he basks in the warm rays of the sun, enjoying life. And now, lounging on the Tsimlyansk sand, he looked with admiration and a certain amount of envy at the sea sails smoothly moving across the surface and the people maneuvering them. “I wish I could feel like a master of the elements...” he thought, and the Universe heard his thoughts.
Sea, surf and a clumsy body conquering this strange craft. The elements rocked, the body trembled, but the brain was delighted! Now the Wild City Resident felt like a conqueror of the sail! Yes, he didn’t swim even a meter, but is that the main thing? The main thing is the feeling of “I did it!” . He walked home full of pride and self-respect.
And on July 11, there was a windsurfing championship among beginners, where we were safely late. However, Oleg still received a certificate of honor - “the first among those who were late”
Windsurfing competition participants
And after the competition you could try to stand on the board. And our hero, the Wild City Resident, conquered the wave this time. “I’m floatinguuuu...” - he shouted, either with horror or with delight, when the sail carried him away from the shore.
So I caught the wind the second time. And she even swam a few meters forward, turned around and moored to the shore without falling overboard. The feeling is amazing! And now there is a real reason to be proud)))
Oleg conquers the sail)
And this is me, holding on as best I can))) Windsurfing is a delicate matter)
Sea and beach, beach and sea
Tsimlyansk town
The southern sun knows no mercy, so after leaving the beach, I Oleg and his friend Volodya went to explore the surroundings of Tsimlyansk.
This is the smallest city in the Rostov region , its population is only about 15 thousand people. The first mentions date back to 1672. It was the Cossack town of Ust-Tsimla. Some historians suggest that the name translates as “horseshoe” because the Don in these places forms a similar bend.
And again, the southern vegetation was pleasing to the eye - a variety of colorful flowers, trees with apricots, cherries, apples, and walnuts were found in every garden. I picked an apricot from a tree. And it turned out to be the most delicious apricot I have ever tried.

And even a stump on a spring day... blooms))

Having walked along a half-abandoned alley with the telling name “Atlantis”, we came to an atmospheric and equally abandoned building, indicated on the map as a pump room:
There it is outside
Inside the building
Next is Victory Square :

park “Primorsky” begins immediately The entrance to it is decorated with a snow-white colonnade:
Entrance to Seaside Park
Walking along the alley, you come out to the high seashore, where the round rotunda . Once upon a time, Joseph Stalin himself stood in it and watched the filling of the Tsimlyansk Reservoir. Now all the weddings in Volgodonsk come here, and for good reason - the views from here are excellent!

Another great view
Interesting fact: in 1964, over the Tsimlyansk Sea at an altitude of about 7000 meters, two Tu-16 military aircraft collided during refueling: a tanker and a missile carrier en route to a training ground in the Caspian Sea. During the crash, something resembling a nuclear warhead fell into the waters of the Tsimlyansky Sea. A large-scale search was organized, non-disclosure agreements were taken from witnesses, but the warhead was never found; it was thoroughly stuck in the silt and branches of the forests that had previously grown there.
And to this day, somewhere at the bottom of this beautiful sea this dangerous object rests. What it was - a nuclear warhead or just a training blank - there is no exact answer. However, the proximity of the nuclear power plant and this controversial object buried in the water column evokes special emotions.
An atom is visible in the distance

Strange stones
We leave the park and go to the Chaika boarding house . Without any complaints we enter the territory through the main entrance. Here we go down to the water itself. On the descent, a sandy section was found, on which multi-colored layers of sand were visible. I was especially interested in the thin red layer, which lies at a fairly large depth. I wonder what happened here in those days that the sand turned such an unusual color?
Red layers of sand
The coast itself is interesting with strange and incredibly shaped stones, some of them resemble the remains of ancient animals or corals. They are scattered everywhere, giving the shore a mysterious and at the same time picturesque look.
Strange stones
On this stone you can see what appear to be fossilized bones:
It's like stone bones frozen on the surface of a boulder
Another "bone"
And this resembles ribs:
These look like bunches of salt deposits:
Swallows flashed everywhere, loving these places for the variety of holes for their nests.
Rocky shore and swallows
The sea whispered its song soothingly...
Amazing place, amazing coast. Each stone is like a page of history that we do not yet know how to read. However, even leaning against some of them, you can feel the power and energy of the earth rushing through time and space.
The hare also liked the local stones))
This is the first place on this journey that has evoked genuine admiration for nature and life in general.
The next destination of our journey is Rostov-on-Don.
