to Russia
The city of Primorsko-Akhtarsk occupies a territory that was once of strategic importance - the eastern coast of the Azov Sea. It was built as a military fortress - here, during the time of Peter I, the Nogais fought with the Russians for access to the water. Today, people come to the “seaside white cliff” for a serene, restorative holiday.
As befits a southern resort, Primorsko-Akhtarsk generously shares clean air and soft sun with its guests. The ranking of its attractions is dominated by natural beauties: quiet bays, sand spits, nature reserves, unique mineral waters, mud volcanoes, extensive hunting grounds, and the famous lotus plantation. The local climate will also please lovers of active pastime - the sea in these parts is shallow and the wind is stable enough for windsurfing. Unlike the noisy Black Sea resorts, Primorsko-Akhtarsk is clean, cozy and quite affordable.

Accommodation options in the city
The resort is small and there are few modern hotels. In the city, not far from the beaches, there are several large hotel complexes, the largest of which are “MariSol” and “Tropicana” - their windows look directly onto the sea. There are no boarding houses in the city. There are mini-hotels with decent rooms and all amenities, as well as a huge choice of staying with private owners - in guest houses.
We decided to stay in private guest rooms - we wanted to cook ourselves, and the option was more budget-friendly, and, frankly, we felt more comfortable. In the first store they told us: “those who rent out rooms have an inscription right on the sign with the house number.” And indeed, there were a lot of blue signs with the inscription about surrender all around.
If you are afraid to come to the city without pre-booked accommodation (especially with children!), then for you there is a table with the most popular places to stay, which have earned good reviews from vacationers.

The spacious shore allowed private hotels to be located right next to the sea. By booking in advance, you can easily find a budget option with beautiful views and a private beach.
Guests give most hotels a “good” rating; the Marisol hotel complex received the highest praise; the service of the Venice guest house has no complaints. Prices for hotel accommodation start from 2000 RUB per day. The private sector is more accessible, but here it is better not to rely on beautiful advertisements. Low cost - from 800 RUB per room - does not imply a high level of comfort: amenities may be in the courtyard, and the kitchen may be shared between 2-3 rooms.
Accommodation
The resort offers a variety of accommodation options. Tourists will be able to choose an object taking into account their financial capabilities and preferences.
Hotels
Along the embankment in the first coastline there are hotels and inns. Service is at an average level, the rooms are clean, furnished with furniture and necessary equipment. Guests are provided with three meals a day, swimming pools, and recreation areas. The cost of accommodation per night starts from 1,000 rubles.
Beaches of Primorsko-Akhtarsk
In Primorsko-Akhtarsk, the beaches are long and wide, the bottom is shallow (even too shallow), and the sea is warm. The main recreation area is the Central Beach with bulk sand; even in high season there is always a place here. It is fully landscaped - there are sun loungers and umbrellas, a cafe, attractions, water scooters and catamarans.
Tourists sometimes complain about sharp shells and stones on local beaches - vacationers with children should be careful. Shallow water is called both a plus and an irritating factor - you don’t have to worry about your child, but you won’t be able to dive.
Wild, almost deserted and very picturesque, sun-warmed beaches are located on the Yasenskaya and Achuevskaya spits. The sea is deeper here and there is plenty of room for adults to swim. There is no infrastructure at all here, but there are rare birds and animals, and the flora is impressive in its diversity; after all, these are protected areas.
Holidays in Primorsko-Akhtarsk
Beach and sea
The main city beach is pebble-sand or, more correctly, pebble-shell, quite well maintained and separated from the shore by a concrete curb-breakwater. The beach is quite crowded, and children (there are always a huge number of children on the shore) enjoy splashing in the shallow sea and building castles from pebbles and sand.
The entire long city beach is a real paradise for children - the very warm and shallow sea makes swimming and playing on the beach quite safe. Several rescue posts are constantly on duty in the coastal area.
The water is quite clear and clean, although at times it becomes cloudy due to wind and waves. Everyone around us assured us in unison that this mud was healing , as it rose from the healing bottom mud of the sea.
The Sea of Azov is the warmest and shallowest, which is why it is considered “children’s”. The water warms up to 30 degrees in summer. And constant sea breezes are very beneficial for health, especially for the respiratory system. The shell beaches themselves are also rightfully considered very healthy.
Windsurfing
Windsurfing competitions are regularly held on local waters, and a thematic festival has already become traditional. The climatic conditions here are simply ideal for practicing this sport; the season opens at the end of May and lasts until autumn.
The Akhtari Surf windsurfing training center is located in the Central Beach area.
Yachting is also not ignored at the resort. The Regional Cruising and Sailing School offers the opportunity to try your hand at sailing a sailboat and even take part in competitions.
What to bring
Traditional souvenirs of the South Seas are handmade items made of stone, wood and shells. As a rule, these are household items - vases, dishes, stands. Representatives of the fair sex will appreciate the assortment of jars with cosmetics based on medicinal mud and clay.
The main value on the Primorye-Akhtar shelves is fish, which is found here in abundance. Crucian carp, sterlet, trout, sturgeon, catfish, pike perch and even crayfish - in dried or dried form, such a treat from the sunny Azov coast will delight loved ones.
Another gastronomic attraction of the region is wine. And there is no need to explain why - almost a third of the wines presented in Russia are produced in Kuban. It would be a good idea to take dried berries and aromatic herbs with you.
Estuaries of Primorsko-Akhtarsk
Cuisine and restaurants of Primorsko-Akhtarsk
Primorsko-Akhtarsk, as befits a resort, will not leave vacationers hungry - there are plenty of cafes and restaurants here. They serve mainly Russian and European cuisine; traditional southern menu items include barbecue and pizza.
Fast food establishments are concentrated along the main beach. There is the famous Subway snack bar, the Tropicana bar, the Voyage and Caprice cafes, the 33 Penguins ice cream parlor, and the pizzeria at the Venice guest house are popular. The Aquarium cafe, which serves European and Italian cuisine, has a high rating.
Where to eat: cafes, shops, markets
As for food, there are a huge number of cafes and restaurants in the city, and in particular in its coastal part.
We visited several - the food was pretty decent and the portions were large. The average bill for 3 people without alcohol is about 1,200 rubles - for a full meal.
We especially liked the cafe on the Zolotoy Yakor embankment - when we arrived there and I ordered a roast with a side dish of potatoes, I was somewhat confused by the volume of the dish brought, although it cost about 250 rubles.
If you cook yourself, there are enough food stores in the city, from small private ones to large supermarkets. There are Pyaterochka and Magnit. The city has a fairly large market, many pharmacies where you can buy everything you need for traveling with small children. Food prices are somewhat lower than, for example, in the Moscow region.
It is worth noting that the taste of the products is exceptional; for our taste, even the most ordinary food products in stores are noticeably superior compared to what we are used to eating in the Moscow region.
Almost all products on the market and in stores are local. A lot of private traders sell food products - from berries to homemade sour cream. Homemade eggs, for example, sell for 65 rubles per dozen. Apples cost from 30 rubles per kilogram, and walnuts can be found from 200 for the same kilogram. We ate well, shopping at the market and cooking ourselves.
Entertainment and attractions
Everything in Primorsko-Akhtarsk is conducive to a relaxing and beautiful holiday. Its main attractions are created by nature - these are estuaries, sand spits, mineral springs, healing mud, reservoirs rich in fish, and extensive hunting grounds. In August, tourists rush to see the fragile Indian lotuses that were planted on the Sadki farm in the post-war period and bloom to this day. You will have to get to the oasis with lotuses by water - with an excursion group or a rented boat. It is better to take an excursion - the guide will take you around the beautiful lagoons, tell you about their nature, and also show you the nest of Dalmatian pelicans.
Vacationers dubbed the Achuevskaya and Yasenskaya sand spits “Russian Maldives” for their length, pristine beauty and opportunity for solitude.
The local nature is not only beautiful, but also generous. Fishing and hunting are, without exaggeration, the main entertainment in this area. Dozens of fish species live in deep water, and fur-bearing animals live in the forests. Hunters from all over Russia come to the “Kuban Venice” for rich catches and trophies.
Primorsko-Akhtarsk has a centuries-old history, but there are few witnesses of ancient times left in the city. In the village of Stepnaya, the remains of fortifications erected before our era have been preserved. A historical place in the city is the abandoned bunker of the headquarters of the Azov military flotilla, where the command was located during the Great Patriotic War. The monument to the sailors of the Azov flotilla - armored boat 124 - reminds of the events of those times. A participant in military operations was placed on a pedestal in 1975.
There is not much entertainment for children at the resort, but parents generally do not complain - there is enough sun, ripe fruit and water for the kids. In addition, in the local amusement park on the street. Tamarovsky has carousels and cotton candy. Both children and adults will find it interesting to visit the Primorsko-Akhtarsky Museum of History and Local Lore.
Recreation centers
Some tourists prefer to relax in wooden houses without amenities in the wilderness. But you can have a great time at recreation centers, enjoying the proximity and natural beauty of these places, without giving up all the benefits of civilization.
Recreation center "Lotus"
This modern recreation center is located in a picturesque location not far from the city. You can come here at any time. Guests are offered accommodation in multi-storey buildings with cozy rooms and separate wooden houses. Three meals a day for an additional fee.
The base has its own beach, which is equipped with everything necessary for a comfortable stay. Guests can enjoy billiards, table tennis, and a football field. Excursions to local attractions are regularly organized.
Fishing and hunting base "Aquarius"
Every hunter and fisherman who comes to these parts knows this cozy, quiet place. This is a real paradise for vacationers. The camp site is equipped with everything necessary for the convenience and comfort of tourists. The entire area is surrounded by greenery and flowers. In the courtyard there are spacious gazebos, a terrace, a barbecue and a shared kitchen. Each room has modern furniture and necessary equipment, and its own bathroom.
Important! Base personnel are not responsible for the loss of valuables. It’s worth worrying in advance and storing them in a safe.
"Cages"
The camp site is located on the shore of the Akhtarsky estuary. Mostly fishermen and hunters relax here, but nature lovers do not deny themselves such pleasure. It is possible to rent a boat and other necessary equipment. For the convenience of vacationers, there is an excellent Russian bathhouse on the territory of the base. Guests are accommodated in comfortable rooms.
