Mud lakes and deserted beaches: why go to Primorsko-Akhtarsk

Primorsko-Akhtarsk is a small town on the Sea of Azov. Many, many years ago it was a military fortress and an important strategic site, but now it is a cozy and very quiet resort.

There are 5 beaches in the city. The water is warm and clean everywhere, but often quite shallow (the Sea of Azov suffers from this). It’s great with children, but you won’t be able to dive. Tourists also write that there are sharp shells and stones on the beaches, so be careful.

However, there are significantly fewer people here than in the popular resorts of the Krasnodar Territory, which is why it is quieter, cleaner, and somehow more soulful. By the way, entry to all beaches is free.

Central Beach

The central beach is the heart of any resort.
Central beach of Primorsko-Akhtarsk, photo from open sources The largest (1 km long, about 30 m wide) beach in the city, the most comfortable and crowded (by local standards).

The central beach of Primorsko-Akhtarsk is very shallow, the bottom is muddy in places, but the water is clean.

There are changing rooms, canopies to hide in the shade, concrete parapets. There are lifeguards on the beach, there is also a children's playground and water slides - they say they are the best in the city. You can rent a jet ski, but in general there is not much entertainment available on the central beach. And there are not many people - you can go.

By the way, windsurfers gather in Primorsko-Akhtarsk: the conditions here are excellent for this activity. If you want to try it too, there is equipment rental near the central beach.

How to get there

: go out onto Naberezhnaya Street. The beach is between it and the sea.

Answer

We moved to Akhtari for permanent residence 5 years ago. At first we liked everything, we were from the middle zone. After 3 years, the “wow effect” began to wear off for a combination of reasons: Cons: hellish heat after 2 years, you sit under the split during the day. In the evening you want to take a walk and you are surrounded by mosquitoes from all sides. Again, because of this heat, my entire garden burned down, I still have to try to grow something in this climate and manage to work so that the mosquitoes don’t eat it. For the first 3 years there was no such hell in the summer, but for the last couple of years it was impossible. This year the city dump was on fire (50 degrees in the sun), smoke was pouring into the city for a week, needless to say, we almost died here. But that's still half the problem! The landfill stands there, burnt out and... smoldering when the wind hits the city, the nearby districts smell the smells of burnt rubber, sourness, rotten meat + humidity. And when it is removed, no one in the administration will tell the people anything. After the fire, rats ran into the city, people contacted the administration about this - there was a reply and inaction. Then the rats realized that there was nothing to do in this city, they ran to other places for permanent residence :))) I don’t understand what the water from the tap is, very often light orange. Electricity and water are often cut off because they are repairing something. In the off-season the city falls asleep, there is nowhere for young people to go for a walk. There are some establishments for very young children, but teenagers just hang out in the park. the city is illuminated only along the central roads, go a little into the courtyards and darkness and dogs and dogs.....you can talk about them for a long time. There are heaps of them around. Since the city consists almost of the private sector, dear people, feeling pity, almost every day feed these flocks near their houses, and the dogs really appreciate this, so much so that try to walk along the public sidewalk near these houses, you won’t see a lot of barking if will not attack. There are practically no industries, all work is in the sphere of goods and services. An old bus station and a non-working railway station. The line has not been operational for a long time, there is nothing to transport along the railway. Although people are asking for a railway line, there are no answers yet as to whether it will be at all, apparently, not profitable to transport people, only goods. Housing prices are absolutely fire! An old crumbly adobe that if you kick it will fall apart costs from 2 million and it’s not even the center. There is no land in the center, there are 2-4 houses on 1 plot and they sell 1/3, 1/4 and so on shares. Cheaper resale apartments. When we moved, the city was even worse than it is now. Over the last 2-3 years, a lot has been done in the city for its development, but who will wait for it, children grow up, graduate from school and leave, because... You can study here after school only at a technical school with a limited range of specialties (cook, seamstress, welder, tractor driver, etc.) That’s it. There’s nothing else. People: I don’t want to write about people, because... there are a lot of people who have moved, which is very pleasing, although they dilute the southern mentality, which anyone needs to know about. For children: the schools are normal, there are additional clubs/sections, that’s all good. It’s just not clear to children what to do on weekends and holidays. Should I take it to Krasnodar? And there’s nothing to do here after school. Grow up until 11th grade, yes, and then where.....? Medicine: I can’t write objectively about the quality of service, but somewhere an inner voice shouts that everyone wants to be “hands-on.” It’s like by default, no one openly asks, of course, that you, no, no, but the attitude speaks for itself myself. Garbage: this is a city of garbage, there is a lot of it here, like almost everywhere else in the south, people put out bags and the car picks it up sometime, and before it gets there, the same dogs repeatedly tear up all the bags that they see and this garbage is blown away scatters across trees, roads, it is everywhere. Garbage is dumped even where there are no containers and where there are they dump even more, that the mountains are right next to them and behind the container and someone didn’t carry it and there are also heaps of heaps. The center seems to be keeping a little tab on cleanliness, but inside the neighborhoods there are no schools, no gardens, and you come across a mini landfill and all the same dogs. Result: we went back to the Volga region. The city is not for my family. The sea will delight you only for the first time (from six months to 2 max), then you will be there less and less, and all the advantage of the city - and this is only the sea is shallow and warm and muddy - will no longer be this advantage. I am very happy for the people who were able to love this city for what it is, not to move anywhere, but to live peacefully in it. But not for us.

Advantages:

For a calm, measured holiday with children.

Flaws:

It's a bit boring to live all year round.

I have been living in Primorsko-Akhtarsk for almost 5 years. Summer is of course a special time for vacationers here. I think families with small children or older people will enjoy vacationing here more. Of course, there are various types of recreation on the embankment, as in any other resort town, but the sea, or rather the estuary, leaves much to be desired. Firstly, it is small, but this is a plus for families with children. And it’s also dirtier due to the fact that the bottom is fake.

Advantages:

If you drive further away you will see sand, clear sea, trees.

Flaws:

Disgusting water, beach, village, dirt.

We decided to relax with our family in Primorsko-Akhtarsk. We rented a small house in the village, about 20 minutes from the sea, if you go through the store, of course. I didn’t immediately like the beach - it was all covered in stones, glass, and general trash. By the time you reach the water, you will scratch all your legs. In the evening, mosquitoes appear, but not for long, maybe for an hour. The most disgusting thing is water! We arrived after the sea, everyone got ready to take a shower, and the water smelled like a rotten egg. This, of course, is generally a minus, the most important one. We bought water in 5l bottles, three were enough for the entire vacation (we were there for 10 days). Well, in general, if you go to the toll spit, entry costs 100 rubles, in my opinion, it’s great there, sand, trees. Just paradise. Well, we were there almost every day, so we liked it. There is nothing to do on the beach itself.

Advantages:

No

Flaws:

The sea is dirty, mosquitoes...

We vacationed here for the first time 9 years ago with my husband; there were no children then. We came here to visit relatives. It seemed like everything was fine at that time... And now, 9 years later, we had 3 children - the idea was that a holiday with children here would be the most convenient, since the sea is shallow, there are few people on the beach and it is not noisy at night... And here we are in August 2021... This is very surprising, but absolutely nothing has changed in 9 years!!! Poor people... Dirt... And no one needs anything! On the second day, the youngest child began to have acute diarrhea, vomiting, and then a fever... Then the next day, the middle one had the same thing... And the third... We went to the local hospital by ambulance! At first they repeated to us for about 5 minutes that their ambulance is not a taxi - it won’t take you here and there!!! And when I already asked: do you refuse to follow us? They still decided to send a car for us... We arrived at the infectious diseases emergency department... This is terrible!!! There are no scales for children, I was weighed along with children on scales that are older than my mother... This is not a hospital - this is just some kind of nightmare!!! We have three children with fever and diarrhea - they admitted the three of us, probably wrote papers for an hour... (The doctor and 2 nurses) then, with tears in their eyes, straightened up in the ward... They put us in 5 on the second floor... I went to wash the child in their bathroom There’s just no drain, there’s water pouring out of the bathtub onto the floor, I went and called the nurse and showed her, she said oh, I forgot... We were transferred to ward 7 on the 2nd floor... I’ll attach a photo - in a nutshell: dirt, ants, heat, stuffiness! !! The nurses (who are older) are like they came out of prison on the second day - very important and rude to the point of impossibility... Constant scandals with the nurses! We were scolded for keeping order in the mornings, although there were ants crawling in the room and a layer of dust on the beds!!! There is no soap in the infectious diseases departments... Bed linen is also in short supply... No one has heard of diapers... In short, we stayed there for 2 days and forced the doctor to transfer us to a day hospital... On the 5th day, thank God, the children left with an unknown diagnosis... Everything started to get better ... As a result, we are afraid to go to the sea with them - we are counting down the days to leave here and forget it all like a bad dream... This is not a vacation - this is a nightmare... If anyone is thinking of going here with children, there is no need!!! This is a village for older people who miss the times of the USSR and say that it was better then than now!!!

I vacationed in the city of Primorsko-Akhtarsk several times. Therefore, I can draw adequate conclusions based on my experience. This town is not large, located on the shores of the Azov Sea. Near the city there is healing mud and a salt lake. Right within walking distance.

All three times that I vacationed there, we rented houses with all the amenities. Twice the owners lived next door to us, which of course constrains us, but I can’t say that my vacation was ruined by this. That is, upon arrival in the city it is not necessary to rent a room in an expensive hotel. Some locals are trying to make money and will gladly take you in. They post advertisements on websites and post signs on the gates indicating that there are currently available rooms for vacationers. So you can find accommodation quickly and easily. The main criterion is your wallet.

The streets are quite clean. Roses, grapes, pears, plums and walnuts grow everywhere. But don't expect to eat your fill of free fruit. There may be locals nearby who are just waiting for you to pounce on their grapevine. It seems that the tree does not grow in the yard, but it turns out that it has an owner. If you are not a conflict person, then you are out of luck. You can ruin your mood. Otherwise, you will have a lot of reasons to argue and quarrel. I also met quite rude sellers in stores and at the market. Despite the fact that I don’t behave like a market woman, I love peace and quiet, I still had awkward moments with the sellers. It seems to be a resort town, where there are many visitors who replenish the city treasury and the pockets of local residents, but only the owners of your apartments guarantee a hospitable attitude.

As for the sea itself. It is very small, but warm. There is a sandy beach and a shell one. Due to the fact that the city is not very popular, the beach is free. You don't have to get up at 6 am to get in line on the shore, you don't have to lie on top of each other. There is a low chance that someone will trample on your towel.

I would also like to note that there are few entertainment venues in the city. Of course there are cafes, bars, clubs, but you can count them on one hand. And the variety of excursions is not amazing. Since I went there with my mother, I didn’t really need it. But for some this is a significant disadvantage.

Many people write about tap water. The last time I was there, everything was fine with the water. No color, no smell.

Despite some shortcomings, I give this resort 4 stars for its sea and accessibility. And its not the highest popularity is only a plus for me, because it is quiet and calm.

And so, in order: If you are looking for a seaside vacation spot with beautiful beaches, crowded clubs, and seas of entertainment, pass by. Primorsko-Akhtarsk, as for me, is an average resort in the Krasnodar Territory. I call these resorts “For those over 35.” And now everything is on the shelves, as they say: 1. Disgusting beach. Damn, how many resorts have I been to - this is the second such “not very” beach. Similar to Anapa. Stones, muddy water. Maybe, of course, I don’t know all the places, as most people will say, but this is my personal opinion. 2. Entertainment. Yes, I like to have a good time, as they say, but while staying in this place, I was “denied” this. Local establishments -

Advantages:

I didn’t find any advantages. I got the impression that the city is for old people who sit at home and only go to the market

Flaws:

The city is disgusting, it stinks, planes fly from morning until night, it’s impossible to sleep.

My husband and I have been thinking for a long time about where to go on vacation in the summer! We read a lot of different reviews about the cities and our choice was in the city of Primorsko-Akhtarsk. We looked at the photo of the city and it turned out to be very beautiful. And so we decided and went. To be honest, I didn’t even have any good impressions, just disappointment. The city is small, more like an urban village. There are no places for families to relax. There are various cafes by the sea that you don’t really want to go to as a family. Cafe 777 confirmed our fears. It’s lunchtime, a lot of drunk men, the smell of cigarettes, swearing, in general you understand that being there with children is not particularly pleasant. Well, after all, we found the only pleasant place to have lunch, somewhere on octopuses, but we waited a very long time for lunch to be brought. There is also a sea there. The sea is disgusting. Small, dirty, as soon as you get out of the water you are immediately attacked by gadflies, large flies and bitten. There are a lot of people on the beach. There is also an estuary there, which gives off an unpleasant smell in the city in the evenings. There is no entertainment either. There are trampolines on the sea, in the center of the carousel. The carousels are so ancient that they are probably older than me. There are a lot of mosquitoes and the city smells of manure. Local youth are very greyhounds, if you are not local, you can get punched in the face. At night the city is not illuminated, only a couple of main streets. In general, I do not recommend choosing this city for a holiday. I haven't seen a worse place.

Morozovsky farm beach

Trees, waves, sand and silence.
Beach of the Morozovsky farm, photo from open sources. A narrow and long beach, which from the photo gives the impression of being wild. However, the beach has parking, cabanas and a volleyball court.

Locals come here not only to swim, but also to fish: you can catch crucian carp, pike perch and beluga. The water is clear, which is rare for the Sea of Azov.

The beach stretches all the way to Yasenskaya Spit, a popular place where once a year a song festival is held for 3 days and 3 nights. Bards from all over the country come here: if you find yourself on the right dates, be sure to visit - it sounds very interesting and fun.

How to get there:

A bus runs from the Primorsko-Akhtarsk bus station to the Morozovsky farm three times a day.

How to get there

One of the main advantages of Primorsky Beach is that it is located in convenient transport accessibility - between the center and the airport. The nearest public transport stop is the Primorsky Park stop. You can get there by buses No. 5, 13, 19, 35, by trolleybuses No. 1, 7, as well as by minibuses No. 5, 13, 14, 19, 34. A little to the left is the “Primorsky Park” tram stop, where the routes stop No. 1/3, 4, 6, 8, 9. From the stop you need to go straight through the park - the beach will be visible from the central alley - and go down the stairs to the sea.

For those who prefer to travel by taxi, you can call a car through the Yandex. Taxi", Gett, Uber, or by phone numbers of local taxi services: Maxim, "Mini. Taganrog", "Prestige", "Family".

It’s nice not only to sunbathe and swim, but also to just take a walk.
Sadki, photo from open sources The village of Sadki is the very edge of Primorsko-Akhtarsk. It is called the local Venice because there are a lot of artificial reservoirs (fish are grown in them), canals and estuaries. Sometimes they overflow their banks and you have to hire a boatman to move them around. Romance!

There are even fewer tourists in the village than in the center of Primorsko-Akhtarsk, and usually these are people who have been coming here for many, many years.

Many reservoirs are overgrown with reeds, and fishing is very good here. As you understand, there are no other entertainments here.

How to get there:

There are frequent buses from the bus station to the village.
On weekdays there are 8 flights, on weekends - 6 flights. Useful material for travelers: The extraordinary Azov region: getting to know Peresyp and Primorsko-Akhtarsky

What to watch and where to go

Lotus Valley

The visiting card of the city is the plantation of pink Indian lotuses. The reserve is located 12 km south of the town; any local resident will tell you how to get here. You can use a taxi, bus, or travel by sea by boat. You cannot pick flowers - just admire the beauty and take photos as a souvenir. Peak flowering occurs for a few days in mid-August. if you're lucky, you'll see the deep pink flowers fade day by day and eventually turn beige. Fans of flora and fauna can also visit the small Nature Museum next to the lotus plantations.

Museum of History and Local Lore

This public establishment is located in one of the most ancient and beautiful buildings in the city, a brick-red mansion with intricate carvings and an unusual gate. It was built before the revolution by one of the city merchants for a grain procurement office. Today this museum is the most popular place among tourists and history buffs. There are exhibitions showing weapons, dishes and other household items of the Adyghe peoples who inhabited this territory back in the 12th century AD. Next comes a hall dedicated to the Cossacks; there is even an imitation of a Cossack courtyard. The excursion ends with an exhibition from the period of the Second World War.

Monument to the sailors of the Azov Fleet

This monument is an armored boat manufactured in 1943, installed right on the city beach. During the Second World War, it passed along the sea route from Novorossiysk to Vienna itself. In 1975, BK-124 ceased its service at sea and was placed in eternal parking as a reminder to local residents and guests of the city about the military merits of the sailors of the Azov Flotilla.

Bunker of the headquarters of the Azov military flotilla

Once upon a time, Rear Admiral Gorshkov’s headquarters operated here, and the military commander’s house is located on the same street. For an unknown reason, the city administration is in no hurry to restore both historical sites; official tours of the abandoned buildings are not conducted. But you can explore everything here privately, accompanied by one of the locals.

Park of Culture and Recreation

The park itself is unlikely to impress visitors from large cities: several alleys, standard attractions, and in the center in a small square the Eternal Flame does not go out. But if you are tired of spending all your days in a sun lounger on the beach, in the evening you can relax here with your children.

Yasenskaya Spit

If you don't like visiting monuments and listening to war stories, you just want to enjoy your holiday, sun and sea, take a walk around the area - there are some very picturesque places. Experienced tourists recommend Yasenskaya Spit for walks. This is a protected border zone and you can only get here by private car, but the beaches and sea of unprecedented purity and beauty are worth it - it’s not for nothing that this place is called the Russian Bounty.

Beisgui estuary

Behind the sand and shell spit is the Beisgui estuary - a real paradise for fishermen. In total, its waters are home to 22 species of fish, including pike, carp, perch, and pike perch. This is an official sport fishing area, so fishing is not prohibited. You will have fun and at the same time provide yourself and your loved ones with memorable and delicious souvenirs from your vacation by the sea - dried and salted fish. Also from here they bring as gifts trinkets made of wood and river pearls, ointments and tinctures of medicinal herbs, and homemade Kuban wine.

Beach of the Tamarovsky farm

Small and quiet beach.
Beach of the Tamarovsky farm, photo from open sources Another small well-maintained beach 17 km from the center of Primorsko-Akhtarsk. The shoreline is very narrow, but you don’t have to walk far from your towel to the water.

There is no entertainment, but the beach is looked after and is quite clean.

How to get there:

Take Festivalnaya Street, turn off at Salt Lakes and drive through them. Next, follow the main road past the village of Primorsky to the Tamarovsky farm.

Entertainment on the Primorsky beach of Taganrog

Due to the fact that the sea in this place is shallow, there is not a large selection of water attractions. Only pleasure boats, catamarans, windsurfs. But there is a free climbing wall along one wall of the embankment. However, the presence of concrete slabs underneath causes bewilderment among the townspeople: such a neighborhood is dangerous, and previously they preferred to settle here for sunbathing.

There are trampolines, inflatable slides, playgrounds for children, and a whole sports cluster for adults in the park. It includes courts for beach volleyball, workout, mini-football, basketball and a tennis court. It is convenient to ride scooters and rollerblades along the slab paths. There is a platform for launching cord aircraft models.

On the beach there are stalls with drinks and ice cream, a summer cinema, cafes and restaurants. In the evening there are discos and karaoke.

Seaside beach on the Yandex.Maps panorama

"Dachny" and "Lotus"

This “bath” is a section of the coast onto which the streets of five local SNTs (Rassvet, Urozhaya, Raduga, Mayak and Veteran) open up. There is a large stone here. In the south there is the bottom of a drying estuary - the one that “decorates” the already dacha society “Luch”. In the southern direction there is a beach area of the Lotos recreation center. Summer residents can find changing rooms here.

Source — olgtarasova59 © Yandex.Photos

The length of the zone is just over two kilometers, the width is no more than 40 meters. The entrance to the sea is at a rather sharp angle, but the bottom itself is quite flat. In “Lotus”, stone is replaced by medium-sized shell rock, and the desert landscape is replaced by sun umbrellas and urns. Consequently, civilization is getting closer.
