When the municipal formation of the Orekhovo-Zuevo urban district was created in 2005, it included one settlement - the city of Orekhovo-Zuevo[4].
On January 1, 2021[5], 3 abolished rural settlements (Vereiskoye, Demikhovskoye, Malodubenskoye) were included in the Orekhovo-Zuyevo urban district from the liquidated Orekhovo-Zuyevo municipal district.
On January 10, 2021, a new urban district of Likino-Dulyovo was formed by merging the remaining settlements of the liquidated Orekhovo-Zuevsky municipal district (the urban settlements of Drezna, Kurovskoye, Likino-Dulyovo and the rural settlements of Belavinskoye, Gorskoye, Davydovskoye, Dorokhovskoye, Ilyinskoye, Novinskoye, Sobolevskoye)[ 6].
By the Law of the Moscow Region of March 20, 2021, the urban districts of Orekhovo-Zuevo and Likino-Dulyovo, from April 1, 2021, were united into a single municipal formation, the Orekhovo-Zuevo urban district[7].
Until June 2021, its territory consisted of 2 administrative-territorial units - the cities of regional subordination Orekhovo-Zuevo and Likino-Dulyovo with administrative territory. By the Law of the Moscow Region of June 3, 2021, the city of Likino-Dulyovo was transferred to the administrative subordination of Orekhov-Zuev from June 16, 2021: thus, the city of regional subordination of Likino-Dulyovo with its administrative territory was abolished[8].

Official symbols
The coat of arms of the city of Orekhovo-Zuevo is the official symbol of the Orekhovo-Zuevo urban district of the Moscow region of the Russian Federation.
Description of the coat of arms
In a scarlet (red) field, strewn with small silver rhombuses, cut crosswise, there is a silver wavy belt, indirect on the left, at the bottom having an azure (blue, light blue) inner border and accompanied at the top by a golden hazel branch with two nuts, and below by a plover sitting with folded wings , whose head covers the edge of the belt.
The meaning of the coat of arms
The city's coat of arms is a "vowel" and speaks of the origin of the city's name. The city arose on the site of the villages of Orekhovo and Zuevo, located on opposite banks of the Klyazma River.
The red color symbolizes the Morozov strike of 1885 - the largest action of Russian workers in the 19th century.
The narrow blue line, repeating the contour of the white stripe, symbolizes the Klyazma River, dividing the city into Orekhovo and Zuevo.

Architectural monuments
One of the oldest buildings surviving from the end of the 19th century is Ogloblin’s house. Until 1905, the factory manager Morozov lived in it. After the arrival of Soviet power it contained:
- City Council;
- children's orthopedic sanatorium.
Today it houses a department of the regional psychiatric hospital.
Ogloblin's House
A memorial plaque was installed in honor of the memory of Ogloblin.
Address: Lenin street, 48.
On the same street is the Old House of Soviets, a 3-story building built in 1912. Its design was created by the architect Bugrov.
The house was inhabited by office workers, engineering and medical workers from the Nikolskaya Manufactory factories. The remarkable thing about its layout is the abundance of small rooms and large, long corridors.
In 1932, a 4th floor was added to the house. There is a memorial plaque on the building that Lenin visited it.
Old House of Soviets
Address: Lenin street, 63.
Another oldest building is the 1st City Hospital, built in 1905. The project was developed by architect Galetsky. His teacher Shekhtel worked in the Art Nouveau style. At that time, the hospital was equipped with advanced equipment. A new feature was the glass dome over the operating room.
The main building could accommodate up to 280 patients. In addition, there were buildings in the courtyard for additional settlement if necessary. There were also buildings for housing medical personnel and the chapel of Xenia of St. Petersburg.
Hospital location: Bugrova street, 26.
The chapel was erected thanks to the patronage of the manufacturer Morozov. This name is mentioned often when it comes to financing many objects in this city, and not only that.
The author of the project in the Art Nouveau style is architect Galetsky. It was built over three years, from 1903 to 1906.
Chapel of Xenia of St. Petersburg
Since 1998, restoration work has been carried out on it, since it was partially destroyed after being closed with the advent of Soviet power.
It runs a Sunday school and a library.
It is located at the address: Bugrova street, 12.
What else can you see on Bugrova Street, named after an active participant in the Morozov strike? It contains:
- workers' barracks, erected in 1908;
- remains of a water tower built in 1896.
The buildings are gradually being destroyed.
But you can still attend a performance at the existing Winter Theater. Its external interior is in excellent condition.
Its opening took place in 1912. It was built over 8 years. It became a semblance of the building of the Moscow Art Theater. The names of the founders and performers are repeated. It exists thanks to the sponsorship of the Morozov manufacturers. Galetsky was brought in again as an architect.
Winter Theater
It was the first theater created for workers, seating 1,342 visitors. Absolutely all residents could visit it. Workers were attracted to the theater troupe. Its name has changed more than once. Since 2003 it was renamed the Winter Theater. The same building houses the Gorbunov Landscape Gallery.
