Khosta was once a resort village in the Sochi region, and now area within the city of Sochi, is geographically located between Sochi and Adler. It is located along the banks of the river of the same name, which flows into the Black Sea. The climate here is the most subtropical, so the swimming season is long, from May to October. In this case, the water warms up above 25 degrees.
The name of the sea bay in this place – Tikhaya – speaks for itself. The sea here is calm, the area is protected from the winds by mountains, so the temperature can be higher than in Sochi itself. The beaches along the entire coast are predominantly pebble and small-pebble , with clean, clear water. There are both equipped and wild beaches , for extreme sports enthusiasts there is a nudist beach . Part of the coast is closed to public use, but you can also get here for a fee.
Central beach of Khosta
A public city beach equipped with a pier, about 200 m . Covered with pebbles. The descent into the water is gentle , which attracts parents with children here. The infrastructure is developed, along the entire shore there are shelters, changing rooms, toilets and showers. For a fee you can rent sun loungers, fins and masks, air mattresses, boats and catamarans.
There is a swimming pool, however, it is also paid. There are many small cafeterias, massage parlors, and attractions. The presence of a pier will diversify the holiday for fishing lovers. The proximity of the railway station causes some inconvenience for vacationers.
You can get there along the street. Railway or Platanova , through the railway crossing. Nearby there is a bus station, sea and railway stations. By car, travel along the A-147 , then along the Khosta viaduct.
Features of the coast of Khosta and Kudepsta
In general, the picture of the coast is as follows. On the left bank of the Kudepsta River there are wild or semi-wild beaches, with minimal infrastructure. The beach of the Kudepsta sanatorium in this region is more or less landscaped, and Robinson Beach looks good. Everything that goes along the right bank of the Kudepsta River towards Adler - the territory of sanatoriums. This is public Burgas and closed to strangers Progress and Yuzhny.
From Kudepsta towards Khosta there is a railway along the sea and a continuous green area on the hillside. It’s nice to walk along the hill, but there are practically no convenient exits to the sea. That is, it will not be possible to gather your family and quickly get to the shore here. Therefore, all the beaches are semi-wild, there are very few people and there is absolutely nothing for an ordinary tourist to do here. Unless you are a nudist or an experienced savage.
Well-maintained beaches begin opposite Khosta. The coast from the Khosta River to Cape Vidny is a series of closed areas that mainly belong to boarding houses or departments. Everything here is very hospital-like: access control is organized, there is security, eternal problems with parking and no options to stay by the sea longer than the specified closing time.
Abroad, “Cape Vidny”, there is nothing normal anymore. I walked along the concrete wall along the railway embankment and saw the real wild beaches of Sochi. In some places, the sea has eroded the shore right up to the embankment and there are concrete urchins of breakwaters, which have already been pretty much eaten by the waves. The beaches of the Pobeda and Elektronika sanatoriums on the far edge of the Khosta district are closed to outsiders.
There is also something interesting for savages, on the border of the Khosta and State Farm Primorsky districts. At the address Novorossiysk Highway, 5/11 there are about a dozen houses on the area between the highway and the railway. In the fence of these houses there are gates from which people can go straight to the iron and through a puncture under the embankment they get straight to the shore. Literally three minutes - and you are at sea. True, without lifeguards, buoys and showers.
