The estate in the village of Zakharovo is one of the few Odintsovo estates accessible to ordinary visitors. The rich estate belonged to A.S.’s grandmother. Pushkin, here the future poet spent every summer in early childhood.

Bolshie Vyazyomy
- Address: s. Bolshie Vyazemy.
The estate with an amazing history was built in the second half of the 18th century and belonged to the princes Golitsyn. The mansion and two outbuildings are the only buildings that survived all the upheavals of the 20th century.
Amazing stories are associated with this house, the most important of which took place during the Patriotic War of 1812. On August 29, M.V. stayed at the mansion. Kutuzov, retreating with his army from Moscow. The very next day the French entered the village and Napoleon Bonaparte settled in the estate. According to local legend, the French emperor spent the night on the same sofa on which the Russian commander slept the day before.
After the Revolution, the estate became the property of the working people, all valuables were taken out and distributed to museums. The house was given over to a parachute school, and on the eve of the war it housed a tank school. In 1941-1943, an evacuation hospital operated in the estate; thousands of dead soldiers found their final refuge in the former princely possessions.
After that, Bolshie Vyazemy became one of the educational centers; in two decades, three institutes changed here. In 1987, the estate was restored and transformed into a Historical and Literary Museum-Reserve, named after the great poet A.S. Pushkin.

Podushkinsky Forest Park is not only a natural, but also a historical landmark. In the park you can see an ancient cemetery. Funeral mounds, or mounds, similar to small hills, served as graves for the Vyatichi and Krivichi.
Several hundred mounds are located in groups or scattered individually on the site of ancient settlements. Jewelry, dishes and other items that were traditionally placed in the grave of the deceased were found in the Odintsovo burial mounds.
Pond Baranka
- Address: Nadelina street.
An interesting body of water with an unusual shape is located in the very center of the main city park. From a bird's eye view, the round pond looks like a giant bagel or donut, where instead of a hole in the middle there is a neat island. On the island there is a sculptural composition “Deer”, and there is a fountain nearby.
Historical estates in Odintsovo district
The Odintsovo district and the city itself include several villages that previously belonged to aristocrats. In the 18th-19th centuries. The surroundings of Odintsovo were a kind of Rublevskoye Highway of that time - a prestigious area near Moscow, where the wealthy elite lived. More than a dozen estates have survived to this day. Below we will tell you about the most interesting ones.
Podushkino
- Address: s. Podushkino.
The village of Podushkino is located a few kilometers from Odintsovo. At the end of the 19th century, one of the most brilliant estates in the Moscow region flourished here, built by the architect P.S. Boytsov. The heart of the estate is an incredibly beautiful stone mansion in a medieval style. The luxurious castle seems to have stepped out of the pages of a fairy tale about Cinderella or Sleeping Beauty. Linden and pine alleys run from the mansion in all directions.
The beautiful estate belonged to Nadezhda Verigina, née Kazakova. Widowed, the young woman remarried and became Baroness Meyendorff. In 1914, the couple was forced to leave Russia, abandoning their estate. After the Revolution, a children's colony was organized in Podushkino. In 1935, the castle turned into a sanatorium for the government elite. In the 21st century, the estate still serves those in power: today the residence of the head of government is located in Podushkino.
Pokrovskoye-Zasekino
- Address: s. Pokrovskoe.
According to the chronicles, the village of Pokrovskoye on the Izdenka River originated in the distant 16th century. Almost a century and a half later, these lands came into the possession of Prince M.F. Zhirovo-Zasekina. The nobleman's surname gave the village the second part of its name. In the 19th century, the estate went to the father of the Russian writer A.I. Herzen.
The writer himself came to the estate several times as a child, and served exile here as an adult. The manor house is a classic two-story building with porticoes and columns. A park has been planted around the mansion; some trees remember the times of Herzen. During the Soviet years, a school operated in the estate; later the building passed into private hands.
Uspenskoye
- Address: s. Uspenskoe.
The Uspenskoye estate is located in the village of the same name on the banks of the Moscow River. The magnificent mansion in the neo-Gothic style resembles the home of an English aristocrat during the reign of Queen Victoria. The building of this attraction was built in the 80s of the 19th century according to the design of the architect P.S. Boytsova.
A few years later, the estate was acquired by Sergei Morozov, brother of the famous philanthropist Savva Morozov. Sergei was involved in industry, earned millions and spent considerable money on charity. The younger Morozov patronized talented poor artists, among whom was the landscape painter Isaac Levitan. The painter visited Uspensky several times, where he painted several canvases. The writer Anton Chekhov also came to the estate.
After 1917, the industrialist was dispossessed, and a shelter for orphans was placed in the estate. Afterwards, the place of the shelter was occupied by the Institute of Horse Breeding, however, it did not last long, and shortly before the Great Patriotic War, a regular school was opened in the mansion. Since the 60s, a department of the hospital of the Russian Academy of Sciences has been operating in the building.
Nazaryevo
- Address: s. Nazaryevo.
The estate in the village of Nazaryevo, like Bolshie Vyazemy, originally belonged to Prince Boris Golitsyn. In the mid-19th century, the Golitsyns became related to the Mikhalkovs, and the building passed to the latter as a dowry.
The new owners built a brick house on the estate, which has survived to this day. It is almost impossible to enter the territory because it now belongs to the presidential administration.
Gorki-10
- Address: s. Gorki-10.
The first estate in the village of Gorki-10 appeared back in the 18th century. Over the next two centuries, the land changed hands and was rebuilt several times. The last owner was the philanthropist Savva Morozov, who built a new manor house on the territory.
In the 1930s, writer Maxim Gorky lived and worked in the former estate. The main work written during this period is the novel “The Life of Klim Samgin.” After the collapse of the USSR, the estate became the property of the government of the Russian Federation.
Dunino
- Address: s. Dunino.
The estate in the village of Dunino is the only wooden mansion that has survived to this day in good condition. House of Finnish entrepreneur R.A. Oswald was built in 1901, but became famous thanks to another owner: in 1948, the estate passed into the hands of the writer M.M. Prishvina. The unusual house consists of two tiers, the lower one is made of bricks, the upper one is made of logs. Today the Prishvin Museum operates in the mansion.
Vvedenskoye
- Address: s. Vvedenskoe.
Another magnificent estate in the classicist style is located in the village of Vvedenskoye. The rich estate originally belonged to the Golitsyns, later went to the Lopukhins, and then passed from one noble family to another.
At the beginning of the 20th century, successive owners erected a luxurious two-story mansion, which after the Revolution housed government agencies. The remarkable Soviet director Sergei Bondarchuk filmed some scenes in the estate for his Oscar-winning film “War and Peace.” The house is currently being restored.

Odintsovo museums and theaters
Odintsovo district is a treasure trove of interesting museums. Amazing exhibits, finds and rare valuables are scattered throughout the nearby villages. The city itself also hosts exciting excursions.
Museum of History and Local Lore
- Address: Kommunalny pr., 1.
Initially, the museum building belonged to V.I. Yakunchikova, a major entrepreneur, owner of a brick factory. The industrialist furnished his office with taste: the building was built in pseudo-Russian style, the walls were generously covered with decorative elements.
The museum opened in 1971 on the initiative of local historian A.A. Puzatikova. The exhibitions are divided into four thematic halls. The first hall contains exhibits illustrating the history of the region since ancient times.
Two rooms are dedicated to wars of the 19th and 20th centuries. A separate room is dedicated to famous writers who visited Odintsovo and nearby villages. You can visit the museum either alone or as part of a tour group.
Art Gallery
- Address: Molodezhnaya street.
The art museum opened its doors in 2009. The founder of the gallery was philanthropist V.F. Kudryashov. A two-story building was built especially for the collection of paintings; the architect combined an ancient look and a modern interior in his creation. The gallery's collection includes works by Russian artists from different parts of the country.
Museum of Russian Dessert
- Address: s. Gorki-2.
The exhibition with the sweet name “ConfeKtnaya” is located in the village of Gorki-2. Upon entering the museum, visitors find themselves in a Moscow sweet shop from the 19th century. All shelves are lined with cakes, sweets, chocolate and other delicacies made according to ancient recipes.
In the display cases you can also see teaware and original paper wrappers. Guests of the exhibition are invited to try popular and rare confectionery products, as well as try to make their own sweets.
Street Art Museum
- Address: microdistrict New Trekhgorka.
The unique Odintsovo open-air museum is a whole gallery of graffiti. In August 2021, the international street art festival Urban Morphogenesis was held in the New Trekhgorka microdistrict.
Festival participants covered the facades of 52 buildings with murals: high-rise buildings, schools, technical buildings. One of the artists, Italian Jorit Agoch, set a world record by depicting cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin on a 65-meter wall.
Museum of Armored Vehicles
- Address: 63 km of Minsk highway, Kubinka.
The Museum of Military Equipment in the village of Kubinka is one of the largest sites in the whole world. The exposition opened at the air base, which previously housed demonstration groups of Vityazi and Swift aircraft, known for their performances at various military parades and air shows.
The best examples of Soviet and Russian technical thought are collected on a vast open-air territory. The museum opened to the public in 1938 and since then has been replenished with new exhibits almost every year. Tanks, self-propelled artillery units, airplanes and helicopters are stored on the territory. Some samples are still maintained in working order.
Museum of Forgotten Things
- Address: pos. Novoivanovskoe.
The museum in the village of Novoivanovskoye is a mixture of a lost and found office and a flea market. Collector Alexander Seryogin collected tens of thousands of interesting items from different eras in his own home.
The oldest exhibits are more than two hundred years old. The collection is constantly updated, as almost all exhibits can be purchased. Visitors can also contribute to the development of the museum by donating or selling rare items to the owner.
Song Theater "Kalinka"
- Address: Mozhaiskoe highway, 36.
The Theater of the Honored Artist of Russia, singer Natalia Bondareva, opened its doors to the general public in 1991. The famous artist devoted her activities to the preservation and popularization of folk art. The small theater has no analogues due to its versatility.
In addition to performances, actors organize shows of national clothes, organize parties for children and stylized weddings. The theater group also runs classes in acting and crafts. There is a children's school of aesthetic education at the theater.
Temples, churches and cathedrals of Odintsovo and surrounding areas
Orthodox churches in the Odintsovo district are a delight for the esthete’s eyes. Ancient churches were built in different architectural styles, each building has its own characteristics.
Cathedral of St. Vmch. St. George the Victorious
- Address: Mozhaiskoe highway, 57.
The magnificent St. George's Cathedral is one of the largest and most majestic churches in Odintsovo. The three-story building was erected in 2007. Five gilded domes shine above the bright red and white walls, and a bell tower is built above the main entrance, which reaches 72 meters in height.
All tiers of the church were built in different styles; at the top, stained glass windows with images of saints were inserted into the window openings. Among the shrines of the temple is a particle of the relics of St. St. George the Victorious.
Temple of the Grebnevskaya Icon of the Mother of God
- Address: s. Grebnevo.
The church in the village of Grebnevo has existed since 1673. Initially, it was an ordinary wooden building, which fell into disrepair over the years. At the beginning of the 19th century, Countess Zubova donated funds for the construction of a new temple, and soon a stone rotunda in the classical style appeared on the old site. In 1812, the French invaders desecrated the Grebnevskaya Church, which is why it later had to be re-consecrated.
At the beginning of the 20th century, the building was renovated, slightly changing its appearance. However, the renovated church did not receive believers for long: after the Revolution, it became difficult and even dangerous to hold services, and in the 30s the building completely came under the jurisdiction of the new government. In 1991, the temple was returned to the Orthodox, reconstructed and consecrated for the third time.
Temple of the Savior Not Made by Hands
- Address: s. Dressings.
The bright Spasskaya Church in the village of Ubory is a legacy of the 18th century, when the settlement belonged to the boyar Sheremetyev. In 1697, the serf Yakov Bukhvostov, trained in architecture, built a magnificent stone temple in the increasingly popular Baroque style on the site of a wooden church. A unique floral pattern on the walls of the building has been preserved to this day. After all the vicissitudes, the church still adorns the village and attracts tourists and pilgrims.
Madison Park
The elite cottage community Madison Park is a harmonious unity of pristine nature, elegant landscape solutions and modern, laconic and at the same time expressive architectural forms.
In the business-class cottage village Madison Park in the Odintsovo district (26 km from the Moscow Ring Road along Novorizhskoe Highway), 5 hectares (20% of the total area of the village) are allocated for a park area. The landscape park is laid out on the shore of the lake, and the relief features with a natural height difference of up to 5 meters give the landscape a special picturesqueness. A pleasant addition to the park is the forest surrounding the village on all sides.
The architecture of the cottages uses motifs of classicism, neo-modernism and the French chalet; the facades of the houses are decorated with marble and mosaics. Cottages of 370–1500 sq. m. are for sale. m on plots from 16.3 to 73.3 acres costing from 32 to 287 million rubles (there are options with finishing). In addition, plots ranging from 15 acres to 1 hectare are offered, costing from 15 to 100 million rubles.
Monuments of Odintsovo, where you should go
Among the numerous monuments of Odintsovo and its surroundings, it is worth highlighting several particularly significant ones.
Monument to Boyar Odinets
- Address: Central Square.
The village of Odintsovo originated in the 14th century. Its founder, boyar Andrei Domotkanov, served at the court of Grand Duke Dimitri Donskoy. The brave warrior was nicknamed Odinets, since he was the only child in his family. In those days, people were often given nicknames based on their occupation or for characteristics of their origin, behavior or appearance.
Members of the same family could have different nicknames. Such names subsequently often passed on to all direct descendants of a person and became what is now called a “surname.” Odinets faithfully served his prince, for which the latter presented the faithful boyar with a plot of land near Moscow. The resulting settlement was named after the owner - Odintsovo.
In 1957, the village received city status. In 2007, in honor of the half-century anniversary, the townspeople erected a monument to the founding father. A dignified, bearded man in boyar robes stands on a stone pedestal. With one hand he rests on his side, in the other he holds a letter of commendation.
Monument to G.K. Zhukov
- Address: Marshal Zhukov Street.
Many residents of Odintsovo respect the memory of Georgy Konstantinovich Zhukov. One of the central streets of the city is named in honor of Marshal of Victory, and there is also a bronze monument to the Soviet commander. The monument was erected in 2000 and is guarded by ZIS-3 guns on both sides.
Sign "Old Smolensk Road"
- Address: Mozhaiskoe highway, 57.
A large stone arch with a coat of arms on top greets drivers as they enter the city. Odintsovo used to stand on the Smolensk Road - the main road artery that connected Moscow and Europe. Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte proudly rode along this path in 1812, heading with his army to the Russian capital.
Here, a few months later, he passed in the opposite direction, escaping the hunger and cold of the deserted, burned city. Several years ago, local residents erected an arch to commemorate the historical significance of the road. The only thing that spoils the appearance of the building is the numerous advertising billboards clinging to the triangular pillars at the base of the arch.
Sign for the 2000th anniversary of the Nativity of Christ
- Address: Central Square.
The memorial sign is one of the decorations of the central city square. At the top of the 30-meter stele, a white angel spread its wings. The beautiful sculpture was created by masters E.A. Wolfson and V.G. Gankin. In September 2000, the monument was solemnly consecrated.

Odintsovo is an amazing city in the Moscow region, which lives in the rhythm of a modern metropolis, without forgetting its aristocratic past. Among the standard high-rise buildings and private houses, the spirit of antiquity hovers; small, half-abandoned villages preserve the memory of the luxurious life of the nobles. Odintsovo is a striking example of a town whose historical value is not inferior to the brilliant capitals.
conclusions
Cities and towns located near the capital are in consistently high demand from real estate buyers. And it is growing every year, especially among Muscovites whose incomes do not allow them to improve their living conditions within the borders of Moscow.
This is confirmed by the high pace of construction of roads and infrastructure facilities, a huge number of new buildings and advertising by developers, high interest from the population and constantly published ratings of the comfort of cities near the Moscow Ring Road.
