Oktyabrsky is one of the cities of the Republic of Bashkortostan. It is located in the west of this administrative region. The distance to Ufa is 180 km, and to Moscow – 1245 km. The area of the city is 100 km2. This settlement is located on the right bank of the Ik River. The time zone corresponds to MSK+2 (Ekaterinburg time zone). The population is 113,929 people. The city is considered one of the most prosperous in the country.
Oktyabrsky is located near the M5 Ural federal highway.
Population
In 2021, the population of Oktyabrsky was almost 114 thousand people. This puts it in 146th place among cities in the Russian Federation. The intensive growth of Oktyabrsky's population continued until the mid-80s of the 20th century, after which it slowed down, but did not stop. From 1987 to 2021 the number of residents increased from 106 to 114 thousand people. Slow growth continued even into the 90s.

Historical sketch

As of mid-2021, the city requires workers for various specialties. There are quite a lot of vacancies. First of all, these are various engineering works. Salaries here average 20–30 thousand rubles. For other types of work, salaries are 11-20 thousand rubles, most often not higher than 15 thousand rubles. Thus, we can conclude that technical specialties in Oktyabrsky are paid higher than others.
Historical reference
Construction of Oktyabrsky began in 1937. Oil fields were found on the territory, which attracted entrepreneurs not only from Bashkortostan, but also from neighboring countries. People in need of work and good income also came here.
There were several villages in the immediate vicinity of the deposits: Moskovka, Zaitovo, Naryshevo and others. All of them subsequently joined the city, forming separate districts. The territory itself was perfect for large-scale construction - flat land, lack of groundwater, ample opportunities for developing a civilized settlement. Over time, a canteen and a post office were equipped here.
The original name was Sotsgorodok. During the first few years of the city’s existence, there was not enough housing for everyone, so individual workers had to use dugouts. The rest were hosted by villagers, receiving a small financial reward.
During the war, captured Germans were brought to Oktyabrsky and did the most difficult and difficult work. They cut down forests, lifted heavy building materials, and took a direct part in the construction of residential buildings. Considering that the formation of the settlement was carried out in a hurry, the quality of the buildings left much to be desired.
In 1946, Oktyabrsky received the title of a city. Local residents are proud that it was they who built their small homeland. Over time, other production enterprises began to appear on the territory, and today the settlement depends not only on oil.
Sights and tourist spots
Bashkiria cannot be called a tourist country. However, there are still places that are attractive to travelers. The main attractions of the city of Oktyabrsky in the Republic of Bashkortostan:
- Architectural objects made entirely in the Stalinist style. For example, the Devon restaurant, Sports and Youth Palaces, colleges and schools.
- Quiet shady areas. The youth park with its fountains allows you to hide in coolness during hot weather.

Among other cities in the country, Oktyabrsky is characterized by an abundance of walking or automobile routes, which allows the development of this business area.
Economy and industry
The favorable location of the city allowed it to build its own independent economic base. Many manufacturing enterprises have been launched here . Among them:
- Oktyabrsky Khimmash, which produces equipment for the oil and chemical industries. The equipment is used throughout the country.
- OZNA is a plant that produces equipment for oil production and spare parts for drilling rigs.
- "Echo". This is not just a manufacturer, but a full-fledged research laboratory. Various tests are carried out here in the direction of oil production, new technologically advanced drilling rigs or other equipment are being prepared.
- Europlast. Produces windows, frames, various metal cores and other fittings. The company has repeatedly won prizes in various categories, and in 2008 became the winner of the “Industrial Goods for the Population” competition.
- AMK "Horizon". This is an organization that uses various vehicles and equipment to accompany oil workers during the construction of drilling rigs or derricks.
In the center of the Oktyabrsky coat of arms is an oil fountain that gushes from human hands. This indicates that most entrepreneurs are engaged in relevant activities. A historical footnote is also being considered, because if not for the deposits, it is unlikely that a city would have formed on the site.
There are also enterprises in the printing, paper, energy and food industries. The city and district administrations create favorable conditions for the development of small businesses. Therefore, the local population receives ample opportunities to open and earn money in their own business.
