The unknown city of Kamyzyak became famous throughout Russia thanks to the KVN team “Team of the Kamyzyak Territory” from Astrakhan. Although its debut game in the First League took place 7 years ago, and today many people think that this settlement is a fiction. Meanwhile, Kamyzyak (Astrakhan region) has already celebrated its 455th anniversary. This article is dedicated to its history, attractions and people living there.
Base
The village of Kamyzyak appeared around 1560 as a result of the expansion of fishing grounds. In the middle of the 17th century, it was granted to the princes Kurakin by Moscow Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich. The first inhabitants of the village were mainly exiled settlers who were engaged in fishing.
Thanks to the convenient location of the village on one of the largest branches of the Volga River delta, the settlement quickly began to flourish. In particular, rich fish catches allowed the Kurakins to receive huge profits from its sale, and these places even began to be called the “Golden Mine”.
Stepan Razin
During the heyday of fishing at the Kamyzyak Uchug, a wooden church of the Smolensk Mother of God was built, in which there was a chapel of St. St. Nicholas the Wonderworker.
In 1646, Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich issued a decree according to which Ivanchug uchug and Trinity Hill began to belong to the famous Astrakhan monastery. The latter was founded in 1568 by Abbot Kirill, who was specially sent to these parts from Moscow.
In 1670, after the capture of Astrakhan, the famous rebel Stepan Razin himself arrived in Kamyzyak. There he assembled a fleet, which in the spring set off on a campaign to Persia.
In the XVIII-XIX centuries
In 1722, the great reformer Tsar visited the banks of the Kamyzyak River, who was interested in the state of the Volga delta and the prospects for navigation for large ships.
In 1860, a fairway was built on Sharapovskaya Spit, intended for the free passage of seagoing vessels and steamships. For this purpose, it was necessary to remove the stope in the Kamyzyak River. After 12 years, the local fishing industry was leased by a certain Mukhanov. Under him, the gangs from Kamyzyak were moved 20 versts towards the sea, but the population remained in their homes.
In the 1890s, a 2-class parochial school was founded in the village, as well as a rural one-class men's and women's schools.
Best Performances
A distinctive feature of the “Team of the Kamyzyak Territory” is Azamat’s peculiar dialogue with the audience during the greeting, when the captain addresses the audience:
“What are you saying, boy?”
It is worth noting that they were the first to have such a “trick” as the team’s general laughter at a participant’s joke. Later, other Kaveen players began to use this technique.
Among the best numbers of the guys are “Kamyzyak Court”, “Mowgli and the Fire Flower”, “White Guards”, “Maslyakov Jr. and Azamat Fishing”, “How the Chicken Saved Kamyzyak”.
Talking about the numbers with the Kamyzyak court, Azamat Musagaliev recalls that there might not have been jokes about the judge and the sessions. The leadership of the Kamyzyak district approached the team with a request to remove the numbers from the repertoire. With the support of AMiK, they managed to defend the KVN number that later became iconic.
“Team of the Kamyzyak region” - Song about the mayor
Each of the team members has musical abilities - vocals and mastery of musical instruments. Thanks to this, the group “Kamyzyak Dogs” (“KamyzyakiBand”) appeared on the KVN stage.
Kaveen players perform musical numbers in the “yard Rock'n'Rap” genre. The jury gave maximum points to such numbers as the camouflage rap “The love of a military registration and enlistment nurse for a conscript,” “Appeal to Barack Obama,” and “Love without borders.”
The group has several recorded tracks and filmed videos; in 2019, the musicians released the collection “Cute Album”.
The guys note that they can joke whenever and about anything. They are not afraid of anyone, but they still clarify: there is a list of topics that are off-limits to jokes: religion, wars and diseases.
During the Soviet period
In 1925, Kamyzyak's status changed dramatically. The Kamyzyaksky district was formed, and the village itself became a regional center.
By the beginning of 1972, 11,000 people lived in the village. By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the RSFSR in 1973, it received the status of a city of district subordination. Its territory also included the villages of Tabola, Zarechnoye, Krutiye Berega, Azovo-Dolgoye, etc. This is how the city of Kamyzyak in the Astrakhan region appeared on the map of the USSR.
In just 2 years, its population increased to 12,700 people. However, the main sectors of production and the city's economy continued to be and still remain fishing and manufacturing industries.
