↑ History of Adygeisk
The history of the city of Adygeisk is connected with the beginning of the construction of the “Krasnodar Sea”. “Krasnodar Sea” is a reservoir in the northeast of the capital of Kuban. There were settlements at the site of the flood, families needed to be provided with new housing and land. This is how the village of Adygeisk appeared.
During the formation of the city, 11 thousand people were resettled. Cemeteries and mass graves have been moved. 11 settlements were completely under water. The date of foundation of Adygeisk is 1969. In 1976, Alygeisk received city status and a new name, Teuchezhsk.
The new name was given in honor of the Adyghe poet Tsug Teuchezh. The city's name was originally returned by the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1992. The nature here is very good, there are all conditions for a decent life, the development of agriculture and tourism.

Dakhovsky Bridge
Coordinates: N44 14.214 E40 12.324 Address: r. Adygea, village Dakhovskaya, st. Catherine Bridge How to get there: the attraction is located on the northwestern outskirts of the village of Dakhovskaya near the foot of the Una-Koz ridge
The Dakhovsky Bridge, leading across the Dakh River, was built in 1906 by the Cossacks of the Second Urup Regiment. A year earlier, they staged a riot, were demobilized and repressed, some went to hard labor, others to build a bridge.
The structure is reliable (chicken egg whites were added to the mixture to hold the stones together) and is suitable for use, but in order to preserve it, another, more modern structure was built nearby.
↑ Economy and industry of Adygeisk
Agriculture is the main occupation of city residents. Many people of working age come to work in Krasnodar, and, having earned capital, return to the city. Some of the “returnees” open their own businesses and run small businesses. The light, manufacturing and food industries are developing.
Adygeisk is engaged in oil refining and production of various construction materials. There is a large plant for the production of carbonated and soft drinks. The famous Adyghe cheeses, wine and dairy products are also actively produced here.

↑ Attractions of Adygeisk
Like any city in Russia, Adygeisk has something to see. There is a beautiful mosque in the city. It is located in the building of a former pharmacy, which was transferred to the clergy. The building was restored and put in order. It turned out neat and beautiful.
There is also a local history museum in the city. The museum was opened on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the city; its exhibition includes about 4 thousand exhibits. The exhibition tells about the history of the region, the life, culture and characteristics of the local population. There are exhibitions that tell about the years of the Great Patriotic War.
During the creation of the “Krasnodar Sea”, auls, villages, and settlements were flooded. In memory of them, a monument was erected in Adygeisk.
The monument to the “Flooded Auls” is not the only one in the city. On the territory of Adygeisk there are monuments to the “Victims of the Russian-Caucasian War” and “Memorial complex dedicated to the fallen soldiers in the Great Patriotic War.”
An interesting route around Adygea by car
Let's imagine this situation: you came to Adygea for 1 day by car. And you want to see as many beauties and local attractions as possible, but don’t know where to start. Of course, from Maykop, the capital of the republic can be made an interesting starting point for your trip.
Pay attention to the central square, and next to it is the elegant Cathedral Mosque . In Maykop you can have a snack, buy souvenirs, and stroll around the city center. But if you are in a hurry, immediately head for the village of Pobeda.

It is there that one of the highest mountain monasteries in Russia is located, the Mikhailo-Athos Transkuban Hermitage . It was founded more than 150 years ago, and today it has received a second chance to flourish. The monastery is beautiful, historical, and interesting to see not only as a shrine, but also as a cultural object. Be sure to climb the bell tower and appreciate the view of the surrounding area from its observation deck.
The next stop on the way is the village of Kamennomostsky. Nature fans will especially like it: here are the Rufabgo waterfalls, the Khadzhokh Gorge, and the banks of the Belaya River. You should leave at least 2 hours for a walk through the waterfall park; you can appreciate the scale of the gorge a little faster.
On the road between Kamennomoskoye and the village of Dakhovskaya, you will notice a huge stone boulder blocking the path. This is the so-called Cossack Stone, and many tourists stop nearby to photograph it. In Dakhovskaya itself, take a walk to the Stone Bridge, or relax on the banks of the Belaya River.
Here you will be greeted by a turn to the Lago-Naki plateau - get ready to admire the panoramas. The road to the final point, the cordon of the Caucasian Biosphere Reserve, is not too far, but this distance cannot be covered quickly. There are many interesting stops along the way: viewing terraces, souvenir markets, ski slopes in winter and trekking routes in summer.

You can stop by on the way to visit the Azish Cave. By the way, even if you don’t like underground palaces, still follow the sign to the cave. An excellent (and free) observation deck awaits you. The Utyug rock will be a wonderful end to the day in Adygea. It is believed that the ideal, those same “postcard” views of the endless Lago-Naki plateau open from here.

Dolmens
Scientists are still arguing about the purpose of these ancient buildings made of flat stone slabs. The Circassians themselves call dolmens “sirp un” - “houses of dwarfs”. According to local legends, these dwarfs were something like Western European gnomes: they had the ability to find rare metals and precious stones, which they hid in their stone dwellings. The version about dwarfs does not fit into scientific versions in any way, because scientists consider dolmens to be either religious buildings or burial places.
Adyghe dolmens are interesting because they are often located in whole groups. Thus, in the Bogatyrskaya Polyana in the village of Novosvobodnaya, an entire alley was made of 50 stone buildings.
The most visited dolmen in the republic is Khadzhokhsky , it is located in the village of Kamennomostsky (Khadzhokh) .
According to some sources, it was built at the beginning of the 3rd millennium BC. e. In the same village, enthusiasts organized the Rock Garden museum . There is a valuable geological collection of various stones and minerals here. Tourists will also be shown a great rarity - ammonites, fossilized ancient mollusks.

Lagonaki Plateau
The Lagonaki Plateau stretches between the Stone Sea ridge and Mount Messo for 650 square kilometers. The altitude above sea level is almost 2000 meters. All kinds of extreme sports enthusiasts come here: travelers, rock climbers, and in winter - skiers. On the plateau there is a slope for skiers and snowboarders, and there is a special hill only for lugers. Part of the plateau also covers the Krasnodar Territory.
Lagonaki is part of the Caucasus Nature Reserve. The places here are wild, untouched, practically not equipped for tourists, and therefore difficult to pass. This attracts those who are ready to sacrifice comfort for the sake of the pristine beauty of nature and many ancient legends. However, if you don’t need large doses of adrenaline, there is no need to climb into the most remote places of Lagonaki. There are many excursions and routes organized to certain parts of the plateau; check with local travel companies for details. There are places more suitable for tourists in that part of Lagonaki that extends into the territory of the Krasnodar Territory.
Thermal springs
Adygea is also famous for its thermal springs . Near the village of Pobeda there is the Maykop balneotherapy hospital . It was built near an iodine-bromide spring.
Other popular springs are located near the villages of Tula and Tsvetochny . They are especially spectacular in winter: the water temperature is above 40 degrees, so the springs would not freeze even in the most severe frosts, not to mention the mild Adyghe winter.
Local residents say this about the quality of this water:
- taste - like spring water,
- cleanliness - like thawed water,
- bactericidal properties - like silver.
Chemists consider this composition to be truly unique: it is sodium chloride bicarbonate with a high content of silicic acid. This set of active substances can help with a number of diseases. However, you should not dive headlong into these sources of health and joy: you should treat therapeutic bathing with caution, first study the contraindications.
Khadzhokh Gorge
Located in the village of Kamennomostsky.
This is a narrow and winding canyon of the Belaya, the most powerful river in the republic. Fans of mountain rafting come here. The best time for rafting on the Belaya is during a flood, when the water level rises and the current reaches breakneck speed. It is better for beginners to choose another place for their training: in the gorge there are many rapids and sharp turns that pose a danger even for an experienced rafter.
The river bed is surrounded by steep cliffs, which attract fans of mountaineering. However, now the Khadzhokh Gorge is also equipped for walking tours. Fences were installed here, and observation decks were organized in the most picturesque places.
