Temple of the Savior Not Made by Hands
Considering what Dolgoprudny is famous for and the sights of the city, it is worth paying attention to the Cathedral of the Savior of the Image Not Made by Hands.
The famous Orthodox church is located in the central point of the city. The date of its foundation is considered to be 1684. It was at this time that Prince Repin decided to build a church on the territory of his own estate. Later, the temple, like the territory of the estate, became the property of the Yusupov family. To this day, the tombs of nobles from this family have been preserved here. Currently, the Temple of the Savior Not Made by Hands is an active church. The cathedral holds weekly services. There is a Sunday school for adults and children on the territory of the historical complex.
City routes
To the spring
A popular route for a quiet long run. The starting point is at the corner of Ave. Patsaeva and st. Airship. You need to cross the railway tracks in the area of the station. Vodniks, turn right and run to the street. Khristianovich in the new microdistrict, where turn left to.
Next we run past the Holiday Inn hotel to the pedestrian crossing across Dmitrovskoe Highway in the Dolgikh Prudy area. Then there is a short climb to the Vladimir Church: this hill (about 140 m) is marked as a section in Strava, so speedups are often made into it.
On the church grounds, along the way, there is a good spring where you can always drink. Then the route goes through a small park with the grave of the unknown soldier in front of the Vodokanal building.
Having run through it, we turn left and then right, into a kind of “gate” made of pipes. Here the road through the forest begins, with good asphalt, which allows you to run along it all year round.
About 2 km from the “gate” there will be a large fork. If you run straight, you will end up in the village of Afanasovo with an unusual and very beautiful church at the entrance. And the path to the spring lies to the left, to Afanasovskoye Highway, which we cross along the passage and then run straight along the road to Lespromkhoz.
Here you must not miss the turn to the right, onto the path into the forest: it is marked with wooden posts and a sign announcing the spring. This is where the asphalt ends and the most pleasant section along an earthen, trampled path begins.
You definitely won’t run past the Trinity spring: there is a chapel built from huge logs, a house with outbuildings and a bathhouse with a changing room, where there is cold water all year round and you can take a dip.
The route is about 9 km one way.
Circle behind Dolgoprudnaya railway station

REX stops at the Dolgoprudnaya platform, which gets to Moscow-Butyrskaya (Savelovsky station) in 20 minutes.
Story
The name of the city comes from the name of the Dolgoprudnaya railway platform (built in 1900), whose name, in turn, comes from the Dolgoy (“long”) pond of the Vinogradovo estate, located nearby. At the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, the surrounding area of Dolgiye Ponds became a dacha destination. Near one of them, the Dolgoprudnaya stop appears, around which the village gradually begins to grow. Soon the so-called “new dachas” appear - somewhat closer to Moscow, near which the Novodachnaya stopping point then appears.
The city of Dolgoprudny owes its birth to the airship-building shipyard, which was built not far from the railway. The working village "Dirizhablestroy" was founded in 1931 on the basis of the center for the construction of airships and the Moscow airshipport. On May 5, 1932, the airship-building plant began work, and already on November 7 of the same year, the airship built on it participated in the parade on Red Square. It was here that the largest airships of the USSR-V series were built. In the 1930s, the outstanding airship builder Umberto Nobile worked at the plant for five years. In 1935, Dirigablestroy received the status of a working village, and in 1938 it was renamed Dolgoprudny; the construction of airships, recognized as unpromising, was suspended. The shipyard was demolished, but the city remained...
From 1932 to 1937, construction of the Moscow-Volga Canal took place through these places. Stalin. The Moscow-Volgostroy and Dmitlag Departments of the OGPU (from 1934 - NKVD) were created. The construction management was located in the Boris and Gleb Monastery in the city of Dmitrov. The construction was carried out by prisoners located in camps along the entire length of the canal... On April 17, 1937, the entire route of the Moscow-Volga canal was filled with water. On July 15, the first permanent navigation along the canal opened.
As part of a large-scale hydroproject, the Klyazminskoe reservoir was created, on the banks of which a working settlement for water workers was built (which became part of Dolgoprudny), which gave the name to the Vodniki stop (in 1951, the platform of the Savyolovsky direction of the Moscow Railway “19 km” was renamed Vodniki).
In 1940, the Central Aerological Observatory began work in Dolgoprudny.
On November 25, 1946, a resolution of the USSR Council of Ministers was issued on the creation in Dolgoprudny of the Faculty of Physics and Technology of Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov, which was reorganized into the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology on March 17, 1951.
In 1953, Dolgoprudny became the center of the Krasno-Polyansky district, and in 1957 received the status of a city of regional subordination. After this, housing and cultural construction intensified here. In 1963, Dolgoprudny was classified as a city of regional subordination (the villages of Gnilushi, Kotovo, Shchapovo and Likhachevo are included in the city limits). In 1988, the former village of Vinogradovo, located on Dolgiye Prudy (which originally gave the city its name!) was excluded from Dolgoprudny and included in the Severny district of the North-Eastern Administrative District of Moscow.
In 2003, the working village of Sheremetyevsky and the village of Paveltsevo were included in the city of Dolgoprudny.
In the 2000-2010s, the picturesque coastline of the bay in the Vodniki microdistrict was and is being intensively built up. The International Yacht Port appeared here, as well as the luxurious Admiral club and other private clubs, which “cut off” the residential areas of Vodnikov from direct access to the water. The new street, along which fences and checkpoints of these clubs were lined, was helpfully named by the “city fathers” Admiralskaya... And for free recreation, the residents of Dolgoprudny still had a beach area “on the outskirts”.
On October 10, 2014, the Governor of the Moscow Region, Andrei Vorobyov, visited Dolgoprudny. He assured that the coastline near the Klyazma reservoir in the Vodniki microdistrict will be improved by 2021:
“We have the second stage of the improvement project ahead. In Dolgoprudny there is a famous Vodniki beach, it is not well-maintained. We will begin a lot of work in March. About two hundred million rubles will be invested in this from the investor. The beach and coastline will be built to the highest standards. This beach area could be completed by the end of the year.”
- said Vorobyov. The governor clarified that a retaining wall and permanent structures for cafes and recreation will be built on the beach. According to Advisor to the Governor of the Moscow Region Igor Chaika, the beach area in Vodniki will be about 3 hectares and will be divided into three zones - park, cultural and leisure and beach. The embankment will stretch for 370 meters. In the immediate vicinity, the Moskovskie Vodniki microdistrict is already being “outlined,” the project of which will be submitted to the City Council of the Moscow Region in the foreseeable future...
Museum of Local Lore
What else is attractive about Dolgoprudny for tourists? First of all, travelers are interested in the local history museum. This is one of the few large exhibition complexes in the Moscow region. The bulk of the exhibits are represented by military installations. And this is not surprising, because at one time the city suffered significantly from artillery strikes, and many of its buildings were completely destroyed. However, there are many exhibits here that reveal the culture of the peoples who once lived in the region.
Theater "City"
The building of the central city theater invariably attracts local residents who need to organize cultural leisure.
Despite its relatively short history of existence, which is 22 years, the theater not only won the recognition of viewers from Dolgoprudny, but also became famous throughout the region and even abroad. The theater's repertoire covers a wide range of topics, from dramatic and comedic productions to children's performances. Today the number of actors here is more than 30 people. All of them have high skill and are able to intrigue any viewer who visits the theater.
House of Culture "Forward"
The local cultural center is one of the largest bases in the region where the talents of the younger generation are searched for and discovered. The establishment was founded in 1939. At that time, the house of culture had the status of the best cultural and educational facility in the Moscow region. But even today its regular visitors are more than 800 local residents who organize cultural, entertainment and public events and improve the city.
How to get to Dolgoprudny?
The simplest solution to get here from Moscow is to travel by train.
A whole lot of electric trains go to Dolgoprudny from the capital's Savelovsky station. The following directions should be taken into account: Moscow - Lobnya, Moscow - Iksha, Moscow - Dmitrov, Moscow - Dubna. Trains on the indicated routes depart from the capital's station daily at intervals of about 10 minutes. Travel time by train to Dolgoprudny will be only 30 minutes. You can also get here by bus. From Moscow to Dolgoprudny there is public transport on routes No. 546 and No. 572. Buses in the presented directions depart from the Altufyevo metro station. The final point of arrival is a stop called “Dolgoprudnaya Platform”. If you are lucky enough not to get into a traffic jam along the way, the journey will take about 50 minutes.
As for traveling by car, the most logical option is to turn away from the Moscow Ring Road towards Likhachevskoye Shosse. Next, just stick to the main road. Having reached Patsaev Avenue, you can drive directly into Dolgoprudny. Travel time when traveling by personal transport will be no more than 40 minutes, provided there are no traffic congestions.
Embankments
Along the canal
The most popular running route in Dolgoprudny is along the canal. Of course, the comfort of the road depends on the season: after heavy rains it is very muddy in places, and in winter it can be very slippery. But in the heat it’s comfortable there: almost the entire route runs in the shade of trees.
Usually they start from the park on the street. Molodezhnaya to the south, towards Moscow. The bridge (New Leningradskoe Highway) is about 3.6 km along a well-trodden, but in some places very narrow forest path.
"We ran to the palm tree"
Further along the same path begins the embankment of the Left Bank “Eco-Beg”, all laid with paving stones. We run along it for about 2 km and finish at an artificial palm tree.
That’s what they usually say: “Let’s run to the palm tree” - the round trip from the park will be 11 km.
You can diversify the race if you return along the “Eco-Coast” wooden path, which begins with a staircase from a palm tree.
Khovrino metro station
We continue the route along the embankments. From the Eco-Bereg park, the path lies to the right to the Levoberezhnaya railway station, from where you can get to the Khimki Forest Park via an underground passage. There is a fairly large network of paths, asphalt and earthen.
After running through the pedestrian tunnel under the Moscow Ring Road, you will see a direct road to the metro station. Khovrino (terminal of the Green Line). From the start in the park on Molodezhnaya to the station. m. Khovrino almost 8 km.
If on the way back you run further past the park, along the canal, you can see the old buildings of ZahradVorota. Then the path will lead to the gates of the closed Stone Factory and lead to the street. Parkovaya, from where it’s a stone’s throw to Mysovo Park. From the start in the park on the street. Molodezhnaya to the turn to Mysovo about 3 km.
"To the island"
We run further along the street. Parkway (it's a dead end, and there are very few cars there). There will be a monument to motorcyclists and a cyclist next to the Night Wolves club. Immediately behind it is a small square of the Yusupov estate.
In the park you should definitely turn left, past the fountain, to the observation deck with the rotunda! From there you can see a beautiful view of Kotovsky Bay and the island.
Next we go up the hill past the Spasskaya Church towards the Vodniki railway station. Before the railway, turn left and cross the bridge to the island. You can run around the island almost completely in a circle: on one side along the fishermen's garages, and back along the road made of concrete slabs.
The circle from the Vodniki railway station and back along the coast will take about 4.4 km.
"Big Circle"
You can leave it in case you want to run around all the embankments of the city. What’s good about it is that you don’t need to run back and forth, it’s a full-fledged half marathon in a large circle.
At the same time, you can see several sights at once: both sides of the canal, the Khimki forest, which was protected from the route to St. Petersburg by planes taking off from Sheremetyevo, and a large forest to Lobnya.
So, from the island we cross the railway bridge to the other side of the canal and through Khlebnikovo we run north, around the Oil Harbor to Paveltsevo.
Next, through the village of Klyazma you need to run to the bridge to get to the street. Olimpiyskaya, and then through small villages along the road to the big bridge - the new Leningradka. You can walk along it to the other side and return along the canal to the city.
