Located in Adler, the park of culture and recreation cannot, for obvious reasons, compete on equal terms with such entertainment parks or “Riviera” - in all respects it is noticeably inferior to them. It doesn’t have such mind-blowing attractions as its competitors, and it doesn’t have anywhere near the scale and pomp, amenities and comfort. It is similar to those that were familiar to the older generations of the “Soviet school”.
The complex is equipped, as a rule, with simple, “morally outdated” carousels and conditions for entertaining young visitors, entirely designed only for them. Despite its far from prestigious position, in terms of popularity and especially attendance, it not only does not lose to others, but even surpasses them. The main argument in favor of this is the fairly affordable prices.
History and description
Developing as an all-Union resort, Greater Sochi has been around since the late 50s. of the last century, in the eyes of the average vacationer from the interior regions of the USSR, it seemed like a paradise, fertile land. But it seemed to many other townspeople; amenities extended only to resort facilities, and the arrangement of residential areas left much to be desired.
Particularly noticeable was the lack of playgrounds and places to hang out for the smallest Sochi residents. Only in the late 70s did the local party leadership decide to pay attention to this problem - the construction of a Culture and Recreation Park for all citizens at the same time. For this purpose, a fairly large territory was allocated, with an area exceeding 2 hectares, where, surrounded by green spaces, a children’s playground quickly grew up with many swings, slides and other simple “rocking chairs” familiar to those times.
The opening took place in the spring of 1980 in a solemn atmosphere, which was preceded by a rally with the participation of the party leadership of the Krasnodar Territory and a traditional parade. The ceremony became part of the festive events included in the May Day folk festivities, as they would call it now. The pomp was justified; the beginning of the operation of the attraction was marked as a significant event for citizens of all ages, as can be seen in old photographs: Adler Culture and Leisure Park, captured on May 1, 1980, made many of them happy.
For the Adler residents, this was comparable to another event that took place a little later - the opening of the Moscow Olympics, an equally solemn moment and a small moral victory. From the first days, the park gained popularity even among tourists who did not lack for entertainment and visited it with children on equal terms with the residents of Adler.
Description and device
PKiO is located almost in the very center of Adler, where Romashek and Lenin streets converge, 1500 m from the shopping center. Yes, this is far from the busiest part of the city, but the location creates additional convenience for visiting the park with children and teenagers; the only noisy place nearby is the embankment located next door.
The peak of attendance falls during the holiday season - from the beginning of May to September it is consistently crowded. Visitors from different parts of the country often drop by here, as before, and their reviews often call this corner a “Soviet” or “retro park.” The definition is most suitable, although after the last reconstruction a lot has changed: it could not become modern, and most of the swings remained “a legacy of a bygone era.” And it remains debatable whether the children lost or, on the contrary, gained.
It is believed that the Park of Culture and Recreation in Adler is intended exclusively for children, while there is nothing for adults to do there. Not entirely true, there are no attractions for parents and grandparents - this is true, but the conditions for a pleasant pastime have been created in full, in the best traditions of the Union's example of constructing such facilities. For most, this appearance is quite acceptable; it evokes nostalgia and distant, already forgotten feelings.
The Central Park is covered with shady trees, growing densely throughout its entire territory, with narrow alleys winding past luxurious flower beds and rose gardens, attracting with their diversity and brightness. During the walk, you can sit in one of the many gazebos along the way, thickly covered with ivy, which gives them a romantic look and drives away any despondency. It is also noteworthy that the park is open to the public every day all year round.

Dragon
Typical roller coaster. An open carriage flies along the rails at crazy speed, simultaneously performing aerobatic maneuvers: “loops” and “barrels”. The length of the route is 1056 meters, which can be covered in less than 2 minutes. The maximum point of the “Snake of Gorynych” is 38 meters. By the way, this is one of the fastest roller coasters in the world - the speed reaches 100 km/h.
Serpent Gorynych will twirl you as he pleases. Not many people will think that phones, keys, wallets and other “pocket” delights may fall out. Therefore, be sure to hand over all this to the storage room, which is located behind the entrance
By the way, at the entrance you will be greeted by its owner himself: the three-headed green cute Serpent Gorynych, suspiciously similar to the Japanese Godzilla.

An orange tower on which an open round cabin rides. It first rises and then falls sharply. Such carousels are called free-fall attractions and, in general, have long become a kind of standard amusement park. “Firebird” with its 65 meters is the highest free fall attraction in Russia.

Quantum leap
Quantum Leap is the creation of a mad genius that combines the worst features of the two previous coasters.
In fact, it’s just the appearance of this slide that makes you feel bad. On two opposite sides of the slide there are rises 59 meters high, where the trailer rises and hangs like in “Firebird”. Only hangs face down or back down. And then it begins to fall sharply, picking up crazy speed (up to 105 km/h), doing a variety of somersaults, like loops and barrels, until you fly to the opposite end and everything repeats again.
The scary thing about this slide is that periodically you have to ride backwards at 105 km/h.
If you're not afraid of anything, then believe me, Quantum Leap will scare you. Better yet, don't go near him!

The boring name hides a fairly standard chain carousel. You’ve definitely already seen something like this and, most likely, ridden it. The chains move at a height of 13 meters above the ground. Both adults and children are allowed, but only weighing up to 70 kg.
Charolet Pincode
The strange name is an allusion to the penguin Pina from Smeshariki. However, do not be upset that the name seemed incomprehensible - British scientists claim that only children and the creators of the cartoon can decipher it.
“Sharolet Pincode” is something like a slow and calm roller coaster for four. Moves slowly and smoothly, sometimes speeding up. In the afternoon, almost half of the park gathers here - all those who guessed that it was better not to return to the other slides.

The ship, for some reason forgotten by one of the pirates in Sochi Park, was taught to fly low. Now he swings the children like a big swing. Adults often ride here too. Adults are not allowed here

Children's analogue of "Firebird". A cheerful red-haired pirate in a vest swings small children up and down several meters. Not very sharply and not very strongly - so as not to scare.
What else is interesting about the Adler Park of Culture and Leisure
Like other entertainment establishments for children, it is paid, but only individual attractions are paid for - entry to the territory remains free. The entertainment here has the usual flavor of the USSR, but is not particularly extreme or driven. This definition, with a big stretch, would be “Autodrome”, where miniature cars race and collide, or “Observation Wheel”, from where stunning landscapes of the Adler environs open up.
The rest of the carousels and amusements are quieter: areas with a selection of all kinds of trampolines, with sports equipment and intended for dancing. Children especially hold in high esteem the Alice play town, the cheerful Upside Down House, the Fun Room with crooked mirrors, and the Rodeo. There are many other leisure facilities - “Orbit”, “Virage” or “Labyrinth”, but they are not so in demand.
At the height of summer, the park is open until late, so you can have an equally good time both day and evening. The best accommodation at this time is in numerous cafes, small but cozy and with excellent service, or near fountains illuminated in bright, colorful tones of all colors of the rainbow. In the evening, PKiO is filled with live music, and its melodic sound can be heard in the farthest corners, as well as the fragrance of magnolia, as if complementing the sweet sounds.
During the day, the artificial lakes located throughout the park area, inviting with coolness, become attractive. They are home to several species of animals and birds, petting zoo pets; many of them are allowed to be petted, held and, of course, fed, which is especially entertaining for children.

To get to the park from the railway station, you just need to walk along Lenin Street or the coastal strip.
