History of the city of Mytishchi

By the way, then “Mytishchi” was pronounced differently, the emphasis was on the first syllable. The village received its name because of its purpose. Here they collected the “washed duty” from those who traveled along the Yauza River to Moscow. Later, the customs point was moved to the capital, and the settlement was given the name “Yauza Mytishche”.
In 1804, water supply was installed in the city. It connected the village with the capital. Such was the will of Catherine the Great. She issued a corresponding decree.
Later, a railway line was laid, a carriage factory was founded and a silk factory was opened. It became the first enterprise of this type in Russia.
After the Bolsheviks came to power, Mytishchi received city status (1935). The settlement began to grow. It included nearby villages and villages.
Those who wanted to settle in Moscow, but for some reason were unable to settle there, also settled here. Residents of Mytishchi consider themselves practically native Muscovites and make no difference between themselves and the capital’s residents.
Now it is a major cultural and scientific center of the country. Historical monuments and modern entertainment facilities are concentrated here. But still, the provincial atmosphere is fully preserved. It will be comfortable here for tourists with children. You definitely won't lose the young tomboys in the crowd.
